ABOUT SONGLAND
"Songland" serves as a destination for music's biggest stars to find their next hit. The series is an authentic peek into the process of songwriting and provides one winner per episode the opportunity to have their song released by chart-topping artists. Season 2 guest recording artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady A, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher. Four songwriters will perform their original tracks in front of the guest artist and three of the most successful producers in music - Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and four-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer) and Shane McAnally (three-time Grammy-winning songwriter and producer). In the end, a winner will be chosen and their song will be recorded and released for a global audience.

I love the way Ester, Ryan and Shane collaborate pre-rewrite so naturally. And each artist is obviously enjoying participating with three of the best in music. Best musical show on television.

I liked the perspective that Usher brought. Felt like he was a fourth member of the Songland panel! He really saw something in this song and it turned out so good.

I think this was really the first of all the episodes so far where none of the songwriters were strong, I noticed that. However, I think a disservice was done to the original spirit of this song, I liked the feel of his raw version.
@@juleshills Yeah, that's one of the best things about new talent. At least we get the best of three versions... Raw, polished, sometimes over polished!

Really need to bring this show back!!!!!!! All these new shows in 2022 for singing are just not up to par with this show was doing. The true songwriters is where it's at and we need to come back to recognize them. NBC bring it back and bring it back hard'cause the new Snoop Dogg show is really lame and American Idol is on my absolute nerve

Not gonna lie, I like where this song was going more than I like the final version. The chord progression really gave this song character, I like backing percussion, more than the more trap-like version that Usher did. I also kind of like the stream of consciousness-flowing that this song had. The magical-tribal feel that this had was awesome. Usher's final version made it a little more conventional.
I agree. I wish the final version kept more of the original coolness but I get that Usher felt he needed to tweak it to his style I guess.
@@adoRebelstyle however, it kind of doesn't make sense because it went from unique to sounding like everything else on the radio. PLUS, some of the ideas they came up with about "spending pesos" and stuff was so cool, it would have made it more of a banger than the unimaginative move of putting Tyga on for 16 bars.

This originally was my least favorite song of the 4 songs, but man, Ester did her thang!!! And Usher made it even better!!!

Oh gosh, the beat is astoundinly good, the lyrycs are so corny . E.g. "I need you like I need water " could not have been more of a cliche

It's interesting how polarizing this song is. I actually like it. I think a better product would have been something closer to what Ester and Usher came up with at the end of this segment with the "spending pesos" etc. As it stands right now, the lyrics are a little "Chainsmokers" meets "LANY" but I feel like the rap-singy part that Ester did was dope. The lyrics needed work but I liked the backing track with the "bongo" sound and the ambient noise over it. Then during the "ooohhh oooohh" part, I love how the beat turned a bit "Trappy." I think the finished version with TYGA just became generic and boring.
I listened to Usher’s version and absolutely hated it! I like this song exactly like this! Its supposed to be a chilled song and Usher sharted all over it. He shouldn’t have chosen it. I’m mad because I can never get this version - ever again.
