Holy shit... the work that went into this.... WOW!
Holy crab! EytschPi himself commented on my video! Nice :)
Of course, imho your reviews are best-of-the-best, no doubt about that. How many weeks took you to complete all those tests? Monumental amount of work for a youtube channel, this is a pro level review way beyond the wildest dreams of any gear magazine.
Thanks! It actually took about an hour and a half to film each test. But I played it in my head over and over for months trying to find the right approach for each one. Many ideas didn't work first but eventually I found solutions to all topics I wanted to cover. Actually, it worked as soon as I put everything into practical context, like stiffness
Next on the agenda: Guitar Cables? Also, do you think that is would be safe to say that investing in Long (high capacity), but sturdy cables AND a good Buffer will solve most of the problems?
Maybe :) something like that. I guess it really depends on how you gonna use it. For recording i'd better go for a short cable, like 1.5 meters or something. For live, chances are, no one in the audience will hear any difference. I'd go for wireless anyway :) But long cable + buffer is a good question. I'll make some tests!
This is exactly how all reviews should be done, with real data. Outstanding video!
This is without a doubt the most scientific and helpful review of any musical gear ever done..... Well done sir! very very helpful!
Probably one of the most important videos for pedal lovers.
Dude this has to be one of the greatest test for gear I've ever watched thank you so much
Thanks so much. I've been trying to sort through a lot of this. It really helps seeing all these different features examined.
This is a really awesome video, thank you for your work and passion!
Great job! Excellent work and very helpful. I've been making my own cable for quite some time and will use some your tests to check them out. Thanks!
Wow, very very impressive comparison, and way more in-depth than I expected.
Extremely well done. You deserve an applause!
This was a good video Max. It was very informative and an eye opener for sure. Those DiMarzio cables were quite a shocker to see in addition to the Lava cables.
Thanks a lot! Really helpful test and one of the best reviews I've seen in some time!
Wow! Excellent testing. Hats off to this. The hard work is noticed and appreciated by all.
You are pure class. Thank you for the huge work you put into this.
Just wanted to say I was not expecting the direction of this video nor such detailed info. The effort you took is more than appreciated. Thank you, Max.
Simply amazing! Thank you so much. The amount of work you put on this should be greatly appreciated!
Dude! I’m late to see this video, but thank you so much for putting in all this work. I’m in the process of deciding what cables to switch to & this was the most helpful thing anywhere on the internet!
Most thorough and succinct patch cable analysis to date, thank you for making life easier for the rest of us
I cannot believe all the work that this involved! Seriously, thank you for this info and being an asset to our community!!
This was an amazing test! Thanks so much for putting it together for the world, including me!
This is an incredible video, I’m so thankful that you put the time and effort into making this a very logical and in depth review instead of using some random words to try and compare them like other youtubers might. You did an amazing job, you deserve more views
Incredible work lad! Without doubt the best review of gear I have ever seen! Simply outstanding 😎
That was a great and timely video for me as i was considering buying some patch cables. Thank you very much.
I love your data based approach. Your spreadsheet is super helpful.
This is one of the best videos ever related to guitar and sound improvement!! This is how to do a review, thanks for taking the time. You have a new subscriber. Greetings from Mexico!!
What a great comparison. Thanks for the effort!
Wow. Thank you and Sharla for the time and effort. Really saved me a bunch of time reading reviews. Admittedly had to FF to the conclusion.
Was so surprised re the Lava and Mogami results.
Subscribed!
The amount of work you did in this video is amazing!
Wow, just wow. This the best video on patch cables in history. You might be a world record holder!
I have seen this video about 20 times, thank you very much for doing this Max Solo, many of us were anxious for a video comparison of guitar cables> 1m
Great comparisson. I'm from Brazil and your videos blows my mind!
That's the most serious dedication to reach the holy grail of tones I've seen!
Thank you for this great saga! You are really good at this! Very scientific and accurate! Appreciated.
Very thorough and useful. I’ve been looking into getting new patch cables and this was in valuable for seeing which ones to avoid or consider. I really liked the ergonomics of flat cables but it seems that they Can get more noise do to less isolation. I’m going to go back over the lists and determine what’s the best balance of profile, and flexibility versus noise. You just saved a lot of people I ton off frustrated purchasing and re-purchasing. Thanks!
Thanks for doing the work. I’ll be putting in an order for a few of these tomorrow.
This is incredible. First time viewer. Made me sub. Great humor and scientific passion.
Dude, great job, we need more people like you doing their job!
Dude . You kicked ASS with this video! Wow! Incredible insight on how some "High End" cables SUCK on noise etc ..you're my hero for doing this test! You ROCK! Greetings from Hollywood California!
Very interesting and well-produced video. I run two pedalboards (one for line-in and the other for my amp's effects loop), so of course I've got some pretty long chains. That said, I especially enjoyed the "fan test" tip... Absolutely brilliant, thank you! 💯
This video and accompany pdf are a great resource. Thanks for making them!
You are an absolute hero for doing this. Hats off
Now this is some pretty hard work ! Thanks for taking the time to do such things. This deserves much more views.
I will go with Ernie Ball 6 inch cable since they come in a 3x pack for a good price where I live.
Yep, those are neat!
The real giveaway was the information and testing done for this video. Thank you for doing this!
This is just incredible work, Max! Easy to follow tests and results and you even included your documentation for download. Thank you so much! I will definitely be rethinking my EBS cables now! I was really excited about those Ibanez PA series.
Nick Humphrey hey, thanks for feedback. I figured it's really important how cables are used, not only the quality of isolation. Before overdrive or basically any gain stage isolation is essential. But once the signal passed that point, isolation is not that critical and EBS and others will do just fine most of the times
Nice! Thanks
Thanks for this video, man! Really useful and awesome!
Thanks for the great tests.
this is one of the best review I've ever seen anywhere. a whole new level!
Very good test! Next, I'd like to see you do one on 1/4"-to--1/4" studio or instrument interconnect cables ( -since just about every musician and recording enthusiast uses them ) and there aren't many tests of them on UA-cam. However, this time I'd like to actually HEAR what music sounds like through the cables ( -in addition to the measurements ). Overall, great job! Really enjoyed watching this video.
This was soooo nerdy (in a good way) and scientific! Awesome test, UA-cam needs more of you, man!
Инженерный рай)
Hey, thanks! Working on it :)
Great job! Audio engineering taken to the next level!
Very interesting and detailled comparison test. I'd like to see how the EBS High Performance compare since they came out after your test (2019).
Brilliant! Congrats on the tough work!!!
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for this! Just what I was after.. Finally someone has done this.. and talk about doing it "thorough".. Making my choice so much simpler and reliable, so I need not feel insecure.. And for so long people have said the cable don't matter, in this way or that way.. I guess that argument is settled too.. :))
THANK YOU!!
Hey. Thanks for feedback!
Great work - Good to avoid rip-offs by cable companies and good to know how to reduce noise. Wish could give it more thumbs up than 1.
with just one video (this video),. you made me subscribe. well done reviewed. excelent work. im sure you put a lot effort into this.
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for doing all this! Now if only those Ibanez cables were available in the USA :(
Great focus - I will return when I like atcual resuts for musical equipment - This channel did much better than others
This is the patch cable bible. Holy shit...Thank you very much for the enormous work done.
You're a true legend for doing all this!
Thanks :)
Fantastic review! Great job!
You got a sub from me for your excellent work. No opinions just hard data. Always the best technique.
Отличный эксперимент! Спасибо!
A great work for humanity, man! :-) Thanks so much!!
GREAT TIMING! Just found this video and your channel and this is the info I needed right now. I just purchased my first analog synth, the Behringer Model D. I’ve been producing Drum & Bass and electronic music in Reason & Ableton for 17+ years but I’m totally new to physical analog gear.
Since the Model D is semi-modular and I have plans to build DIY synth modules and purchase a Neutron very soon, I’ve been reading articles and asking for advice on quality yet inexpensive patch cables to purchase.
I was leaning towards modular addict which had patch cables for $0.99 for 6” straight plugs and goes up about $0.05 per cables length thereafter. Then about $3.00 for starting price for stackable cables. No idea the actual brand because I just found the website yesterday.
Let’s see how I feel about those after your video. Because the only other name I recognized was ‘Hosa’ from seeing them on Amazon for about $20 for 6 x 6” cables. Then ‘Tendrils’ were recommended to me as quality cables as well, but those are roughly $13 per cable... kind of expensive for me starting out, and in using these only for synths; no pedals for me.
Cheers!
-H.B.
Super helpful video, Max.
Hey dude loved this video so much! Have you considered doing this same thing but with instrument cables? It'd be so cool to see how they compare in these tests.
Fantastic makes it easier to make a decision now. Thank you.
Awesome work!! Best test video on UA-cam, really helpful and I really like the overall PDF file, big like and thank you so much this test video, keep it up!!! :)))
great research, i wish there were more people actually knowing what they do!
really great and intelligent test man! very very useful!
WOW! Incredible video! Thank you so much!
Вот это работа! Спасибо, Макс! Вопросов не осталось :-)
Отлично! Правда у меня ещё остались вопросы. Ответы в одной из следующих серий :)
I would say that you, sir, have a high score of -49.5db. That is, no noise! Just real information. Thank you for all your good work. You are my guiding light for patch cables!
Awesome!! Thanks so much for this amazing video!
Excellent video, great job!
I must say you are the best tester on UA-cam.
Mit Abstand der beste
Thanks :)
Thanks for the work!
well i found today your youtube channel and i guess i'm spending my "day-off" watching your vids ... lol ... great videos! just loving it ... could you do the same tests for guitar cables ... i trying to reduce my noise as much as possible ... :) thank you so much for your info's that teach me so much ... thank you ... from Portugal....
Hey. Thanks for your feedback. I'll be doing more videos on cables. I've already got some samples, just need to find time to film
This is a very useful video. I am going to need some new cables.
hmm, I was researching electric wire to rebuild my car loom... glad I stumbled upon your video though. Great in depth testing.. cheers
Now put that effort into making your own at home to add to the comparison, how cheap you can build it and how well it performs.
Incredible video, thanks mannnn!!!
This was a really great review and very scientific. The only one I've seen of its kind, going above and beyond. Could you do a review like this but with XLRs to see the difference between different XLR cables?
I might do some more cable videos but nothing is planned for XLRs
Thanks for this video,very informative..
This is amazing, thank you so much!
Thanks for the effort...!
Super helpful and informative. Thanks 🤙
Praise be to you. This was so informative.
Best review for patch cables!!!
Very Helpful. Thanks
Awesome work!
Amazing work
Very interesting video. I make my own patch cables using Van Damme Pro instrument cable and pancake jacks.
Great video and comparison, thanks! I will have to say though I own flat cables (EBS and Rockboard) and never had a sound issue neither on stage nor at home. On the other hand 3 of my sommer cables broke for no reason. And my old planet waves cables always seemed to push themselves out of the jack. So I will still go for the flat ones, simply because they are saving the most space and thus making your pedalboard easy to organize.
Nice to hear! I am planning on doing my first board using EBS PG patches only. These test seemed to only show that if you run cables with other noise on top on them or hit them with a fan that they would suck. I don't plan on doing either of those.
@@FreckleFoxShow Amen
Wow, this is great info. Thanks.
Wow, really enjoyed this shit. Now I know that I wasn’t wrong looking for those Ernie ball cables
Vow, this was amazing. Finally some measurement behind the claims. The downside is, I will have to sell a bunch of my EBS, Rockboard patch cables. But I am glad to do so because my pedalboard noise is a bit too much.
Thank you, you put a lot of time, and even more important, knowledge, into this review.
Glad it was helpful!
What a "BIG" work!
Congrats!
Great video. Thank you!!!
Thank you ! A huge work but for a good cause, better sounds :-)
Muy buen video
Termine escogiendo los ernie ball por la calidad y el precio.
Great video and extremely helpful!! Cant believe the amount of work that must have taken! Thanks!! I rather enjoyed the heavy metal music.. my ears thank you :) Would be awesome if you did the same with guitar lead cables :D
