Looking for a replacement on my sim rig (non-motion) that currently has a GT Omega Pro seat.
My areas for improvement that I am looking for is 1) comfort...need lumbar support and some better bottom padding. 2) better air cooling
Any suggestions?
I mean those seats are amazing I have them myself in my track car. I also like sim racing, i wish i had a rig for it, but i cant justify spending that much on a legit bucket seat for it.
Another great video Barry, I don"t know if you have noticed but it looks like the lower mount for your actuators is loose, I can see it moving around in the video. As far as I know it is not supposed to move.
No worries. What you are seeing is the bar that the actuators mount to moving as it should. The bar itself is mounted to rubber chassis mounts. They are in turn, mounted to the Stage 4 chassis. So you see the bar moving, which it is supposed to do in this design.

You can remove all of the padding and use the shell only for a foam bead seat kit ; )

+Sim Racing Garage MK-1 or Bald spot sports both in Indy will even rent you the vacuum pump and hot knife when you buy a kit.
I have a champ car tub so I had no choice, but since I learned how to do it pretty good, I ended up making inserts for my Sparco seat also.
It's fun stuff to play around with!

inspired by you I recently purchased a brand new set of Sparco Aluminium Side Seat Brackets
(SQ004903) like the ones that you have here. When they arrived they had a heap of scratch marks and imperfections on them. I returned them only to receive a replacement set (factory sealed) that are no way near perfect either!!!
I have never been so let down by purchasing something that has arrived in this condition. The postage packing seemed adequate, so I'm wondering if yours arrived clean when they first arrived?

Sorry to hear about your dramas with the purchase. Mine arrived in new condition factory sealed. Luck of the draw I guess.

Hey Berry! Where did you get your seatbelt tensioner system from (the springs that hold the seatbelt)? Im looking everywhere for it, and cant find anything... Great Review, as always! :)
This is a custom setup. I used some idea's from other folks rigs and put it together to work on mine. I fabricated the both aluminum brackets. Hit me up at: barry@simracinggarage.com. And I can send you some pictures of the brackets and the springs I used. Also the belts and where I put the mounting points on the seat frame.

Curious if your going to try the rear buttkickers on the seat mounts rather than from the back of the rig?
Those are full size Buttkicker LFE's. The internal piston weighs 5 lbs on it's own, with a total weight of 11 lbs. That would be adding 22 lbs to the seat weight. I would not want to add this mass to the seat mover assembly. They would also be a bit much to bear if they were that close to the driver. I have them located where I felt it would be best to replicate the suspension effects for the very large and heavy chassis that the Stage 4 chassis is.

I get what your saying with the weight just thought it would be an interesting test.
I use two of the same Butt-kickers on a non motion Cobra seat. It is certainly possibly to enjoy their excellent depth and energy with a sensible amount of wattage and them more directly mounted. Just like the "Concert" model is designed to fit to a drum stool.
It may not be want you want to do but I can assure others the detail and energy especially from the stereo operation of curbs from Suspension Bumps & Textures is excellent and much more immersive. I personally enjoy it but see little point of tactile energy or excessive wattage going to waste into parts of the frame you wont likely feel it anyways.

I would love a formula-style seat mainly for comfort but also for immersion when im driving the lmps and even gt3s. These regular bucket seats just look unneccessarily soft and will most likely heat my body even more when racing.

Those are AMAZING seats. I was looking at them for a long time (for my real car) but could not justify the price. I ended up just settling for the sparco sprint. They fit better in my car, but are nowhere near the quality of the evo. That rubber material is very nice and the cloth on the lower end seats will rip fairly easy.

Hey Barry, I'm new to the PC world and sim racing. I've been watching a lot of videos and it seems like your reviews seem very analytical. I'm looking to build a sim rig and i was wondering if you could possibly give me a list of parts honestly, that would provide accurate realism that you could recommend or use personally because of your being thorough in your review. if not would there be any way you could point me in the right direction. i know this is a big question but the perspective of someone with as much experience is infinitely valuable. Well, that is a big question. There are so many options. And they all depend on your particular wants and needs. This really isn't the proper forum to discuss this at length. But if you "private message" me through my channel, then we can go over some options depending on what you think you want.

What make are the two struts attached to you seat to make it move and how does the seat swivel?

Barry, just a short question for mounting! My seat just arrived and I don't know which bolt size I need? Are they M8? Which bolt length would be needed? Thanks so much. Best regards Joe
I'm using M8, 1.25 pitch bolts for the side mounting holes. Bolt length is 25mm and I am using a 2mm washer on that. My seat brackets are thicker than most at 6mm.

Thanks great help. I got it done and I got 2 M8x30mm bolts for the front with 2mm washers on each side and 2 M8x40mm bolts in the back because I had to equalize the front and back by 20mm on each side in the back. Now it fits great.
Hey Barry, may I ask you about the width of your hips? The Sparco seats seem to be very small. I measure 36cm for my hip. So the Evo II might work, but I'm not sure and I don't have the possibility to test the seat I advance. Thnx
15". The seat fits me like a glove. Really enjoy it.
Sim Racing Garag wow, 15" are 38cm and it fits. Interesting :) because Sparco says the width is 33cm, inside the cousins. It's pretty confusing to me. I thought the Evo II could work and now you're telling me that you fit into the normal version :)
The padding in the seat compresses when sat upon. Sparco's measurement includes the padding.
Now I got the Evo II, my hip is ~14" and the seat it is almost to wide. Since I dont have motion rig its ok. Got to think about it perhaps and change it to an EVO standard seat
Hello i will want to know if seat model s adapts in any racing simulator me i have a rsat ss1 or the seat is tearing if i buy this seat is what it will adapt because on the site of the seller there is no Technical sheet
If your simulator has mounting holes for seat brackets, then this seat should work.
The problem I have with the Sparco Evo (and similar seats in this price range) is the premium you pay for FIA approval. FIA approval entails that the seat pass strict crash test guidelines, incorporate fire retardant materials, etc. I would also assume that seat manufactures must pay the FIA a fair amount for the testing to receive this approval - which of course is passed on to the consumer. These sorts of features are completely pointless for sim racing, and in my opinion a terrible waste of money. Most sim racers would be far better served with something like the Corbeau FX1. It's very similar to the Sparco Evo quality wise, but not FIA approved and as a result less than half the price at $320 - they also make a micro-suede version for $400. Once again, the Sparco Evo is certainly a great seat, but personally, I would never pay a $480 premium for a shiny sticker and a bunch of safety features that serve no purpose in sim racing. Nonetheless, I'm glad you're enjoying the seat Berry, and thank you very much for the (as usual) detailed review.

What a waste of a nice fia certified seat just to play a computer game...
