This was so freaking cool! I never thought of checking the flight details button to see what type of seats are available in first or business class. As always, I love your presentation! You make it easy for us to follow and learn❤️
Great video. Any idea what the upgrades cost from Boston? Also can we book using miles and then upgrade it or we need to buy in cash? Thank you for the help!
You can book using miles and upgrade, but its the same thing as buying the first class seat from the start. For Boston its the same 25,000 or 50,000 miles options
@@ChaseYokoyama Thanks Chase I’m a life long Miami Dolphins fan and I’m taking your advice on my next trip to south Florida to attend a game flying economy section for 10 hours is quite a challenge.
Thanks for the tip. I have a friend that upgrades a lot using HA miles. I've never flown "first class" on HA, but found a lie-flat seat (on the A330 aircraft) from LAS-HNL for only 40K miles, which is normally 80K. Some regular main cabin seats required more miles than my 40K lie-flat seat.
@ChaseYokoyama Thanks! It won't be until November. I won't get to enjoy any meal service since it's the 1am flight. I also saw first class for 40K miles for 9am, but I wasn't gonna flying back home 2 days early just for that. Hopefully I can win big 🎰 so I can afford first class on future flights.
1st class on Hawaiian for only 25k points is legit!! Will be really interesting to see how the new Hawaiian + Alaska partnership works out. Definitely could make Hawaiian Miles more valuable to be able to transfer to Alaska & book things like Japan Airlines Business. Great video & overview on this First Class redemption Chase!
We shall see! Surely they will keep the customers in mind and make this merger better for the passengers and not to get more profit at the cost of us, right? 🥲
Can you upgrade with dollars rather than with points? I like your idea on how to save money with a first class upgrade but I don't currently have Hawaiian Airlines points or American Express points.
If i remember correctly, buying with points economy + upgrade the points with cash would just be the same price as buying the biz / first class seat with points straight up. So it is actually better to pay with cash then upgrade with points.
Thx for the video! A few points. 1. How many miles did you earn by purchasing the Econ tix? Even if this doesn’t change the value calculation for purchasing the tix and upgrading it appears to be another benefit of this hybrid approach. 2. With the recent Hawaiian & Alaska Airlines merger, I’m seeing a lot of speculation about whether Amex will end the transfer option to Hawaiian. Any thoughts? 3. Always great to fly in First or Business but I was recently on Hawaiian flights from Seoul to Hon then Hon to SFO. The staff were all pretty nice and attentive but the food service was really mediocre. Hopefully Alaska influences Hawaiian to improve its food prep quality. How was the food on the Dreamliner? Thx!
1. I earned 1,790 Amex points by using my Amex Platinum 2. Personally I have no idea so I would not send over Amex points just yet just because of speculation. 3. I haven't flown the regular business class on Hawaiian in a while. But the dreamliner food was decent! I definitely LOVED the pound cake dessert.
PHX as one of only two airports with the nice HA suites is interesting. I have flown PHX-HNL but only on American, on the A321neo, which does not even have lie flats in First.
not sure if im getting your question correct but how did you get the $1,228? But no I would not pay cash prices for any biz flight right now, but I would pay some cash and points to get those same seats.
You forgot to mention the fact that these deals are only available when the moon is full and scorpio is retrograde in Uranus on odd numbered days of leap years. Good luck.
Right now they’re gonna keep the miles programs separate. But later this month they’ll allow you to transfer miles between Alaska and Hawaiian 1:1. And then by mid-2025 they’re aiming to merge them into 1 points/miles program.

Hawaii is not a part of the United States. Hawaii is illegally occupied by America. We never relinquished our inherent sovereignty. No treaty, no jurisdiction. Prove me wrong & show me the treaty.

you can, but it would cost the same as buying the first class seat outright with cash.
Thanks for the info! Can you do this if you buy the economy flight with points? Or does it have to be cash?

Thank you for the tips! Any possible way to do this with JetBlue?
Unfortunately there are no ways to use points to upgrade to JetBlue Mint.
How far out are you doing this?
This one I did 9 days in advance

ya apparently they looking into expanding to JFK next if i remember correctly.
Does it matter if you buy Main Cabin Basic or Main Cabin?
its gotta be Main Cabin. 👍🏽 the basic version doesn't allow for upgrades
At 1.1c per amex point, you're paying $1228 in cash and points for a roundtrip. You can routinely find round trip LAX-HNL in economy for
not sure if im getting your question correct but how did you get the $1,228? But no I would not pay cash prices for any biz flight right now, but I would pay some cash and points to get those same seats.
@@ChaseYokoyama cash price + redeemable value in MR points = $1228 for a roundtrip
will this ugrade work with a basic economy ticket?
no, it has to be the regular economy seat
You forgot to mention the fact that these deals are only available when the moon is full and scorpio is retrograde in Uranus on odd numbered days of leap years. Good luck.
lmao love that username 😂
Omg I paid 30k points to fly to Norway, Portugal, and New Zealand.
is that economy? But economy or not, that sounds like a hell of a deal. Unless you flew on a bird
You don’t mention what I feel is the best way to get points and that’s to buy them! Right now for example you can buy 50,000 miles for $625!
You're right. sometimes buying points is the move!
OMG 😳
😱
Wonder if anything changes with Alaska airline combining with Hawaiian airline 😳
i am very curious as well. 😬 anxious to see what happens to their loyalty programs
@@ChaseYokoyamait seems to be a great merge! They just announced changes today 😊

this method is totally posted on the Hawaiian Airlines website lol
it sure is! i didn't say it wasn't tho. plus hopefully this video can reach people that would not have seen it by digging through their website 🤷🏽♂️
Of course you forgot to record the conversation😂😂
well thankfully i recorded the more important one where I confirmed the upgrade for 25k points. next time i'll remember to record all the convos
