Hey guys, sorry I haven't been able to reply to some of the comments. Life is crazy right now.
For those having audio issues with sending and receiving audio between both PC's. I wrote an article on the current method I'm using.
I've played with physical mixers and programs like Voicemeeter, but this is the easiest and most cost effective method in the long run.
Dual PC Audio setup w/ no mixer:

For 6+ months… over 6!!! And I came across your video and figured it out!!! You my guy are just earned a sub and a like
Bro, I have been trying to figure out the Dual PC setup for MONTHS. I've watched so many videos to no avail. Finally i found yours, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Extremely helpful & straight to the point concisely. Checked out a few videos & this is the one.
Awesome tutorial. Thank you, i looked for a long time for a tutorial that minimized the impact on the gaming pc and was not able to find many - Mirroring the source is totally the right call. Thank you.
Took me to find a very small subscribers channel to find the perfect guide. Props to you!
Most people didn't care to specify "gaming pc" and "streaming pc" its very useful :)
Glad I could help Plushie! Thank you for watching.
That was clear, concise, and right to the point. Great Video.
Glad it could help OverEasy!
this is the best tutorial on YT for this setup. i always go back to this for reference
THANK YOU I LOOKED THROUGH SO MANY UNHELPFUL VIDEOS YOURS WAS RIGHT AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT
Thanks! I appreciate you giving it the time.
This was very good information thank you! I used this information also with the HD60 S+
Hey dude, thanks for making this short and to the point!
Thank you so much for that Great Tutorial Video 🤩🔥
Was about to give up, but you saved me my friend. Thank you I liked & subbed
Thanks man! Small streamer who had to reset the gaming PC. It's been years since I've had to change Elgato setup and could not figure how to get it to work for the life of me!
Glad I could help! Good to blow the dust off sometimes. =)
Great video, all this time i have been using obs on both pcs (by running obs full screen projector from the gaming pc and it uses gaming GPU as well) and this method easy and no additional stress on the gaming GPU. But i got no audio, luckily i was using Voicemeeter Banana in my previous setup and using it with your method fixed my no audio issue.
Awesome! Glad it could help. I'm using voicemeeter currently as well. The perfect combo imo. Especially since I bought a Korg midi controller to have physical sliders for each channel.
Thanks for watching
thank you , this helped and fixed my headache i appreciate you subbed to channel and grateful
!
Easy and quick . Thank you for the video .
Glad it helped!
You are amazing my man. Thank you!!
very helpful thank you and right to the point!!!
On to the point! Nice video ❤
YOU ARE THE GOAT FOR THIS THANK YOU SO MUCH
Lol no problem!
Dude. You’re a life saver…
This is the video. This was driving me nuts. Now I need a video on how to get my wireless headphones to work. All the sound from Warzone is going to my capture card. Warzone should have an option to pick two speakers/headphones voice chat device.
So voicemeeter might be what you need. I have a post on how you can split audio, one to ur headphones and to the capture card if needed.
dweebhub.com/how-to-split-audio-with-voicemeeter-potato/
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SIMPLE!!!!!!
No problem! Glad I could help =)
What a nightmare this was. My cumputer was always recognizing the capture card as my main monitor. I had to unplug it and plug it in over and over till I got it right. I am scared to reboot my computer now because I finally got it set up. Lol. You did a great job though. I liked and subscrided. 😁
Great video bro. You explained it as well as anyone could.
Hi this helped me. thank you sir 😍
That's awesome! Glad it could be of service *bows*
Great video, straight to the point without additional stories or ads, thank you. Does this method allow you to both record game sounds and your microphone from the gaming PC or, would you need to have your microphone (and e.g. Discord) set up on the streaming PC?
Hi! So when doing a dual PC setup like this, transferring audio between PC's requires additional steps.
1. A streaming mixer - assists sending audio to and from both computers, but expensive.
2. Voicemeeter potato - allows you to send audio between both PCs over your home Internet. But the mixers can be difficult to learn as a beginner.
3. No mixer method - basically using two 3.5mm cables to and from both PCs. Then using Elgato sound capture to route/slept audio.
I have videos on all three methods you could check out!
Quick question: Does this work with the original Elgato HD60?
Probably the easiest to follow tutorial I've seen so far though, which was really refreshing to watch!
Apologies for the late reply, the concepts should be the same as long as the inputs/outputs are the same.
Only thing to watch out for the hd60, is you may run into a delay.
hello sir do you know if using a usb 2.0 port on the mobo will work? Im using an old workstation as a streaming pc and it doesnt have any 3.0 ports unless I buy a pcie card for those ports. I followed all your steps to a T and once I get to obs I get hit with the black screen even after changing the settings you mentioned. I will try changing my usb type c cable and hdmi cable to see if those are the problem before I assume its the 3.0. Thanks again for the video! Edit: It did need a 3.0 port for it to work! works now!
Thank you man this help me so god dam much life saver 🙏
How did you managed to get the same audio on obs and on gaming pc as well?
Hi Zed, in order to hear audio from both PC's on the gaming PC (so you can hear gameplay AND any alerts from the stream PC), you'll need to use one of the following methods.
- Use a stream mixer: GoXLR, Elgato Wave, Beacn Mix Create etc..(Most expensive)
- VoiceMeeter Potato: Using a function built in called VBAN. Sends audio between both PC's over your home network. (DonationWare)
- Install 3.5MM cables w/ Ground loop isolators going to and from both rigs. Then using Elgato Sound Capture to route audio. (For both cables and ground loop isolators, cost me around $25-30)
- NDI: Sends audio over your home network (Free)
Hope this helps!
Thank you I will try today this 👍
hey man! i’ve got this issue where my capturecard is flickering on obs have you got any fix for this?
hello! one little question.. i cant find the capture card on the OBS. Says ( Device elgato screen link).
clean and speady tx
Hey great video but my elgato hd 60 in playback is showing on my gaming pc and not my streaming pc ... i plugged it in just how you said , you think you know why ? or how i can manage to get it to show on my streamin pc?
Good job
so i would need to run to cords from gaming gpu to monitor one from gpu other going thru elgato?
i see have 2 pc and but im asking if both can use 4 montior each pc??
Thank you
Holy shit! Thank you 🙏🏾
No problem! Glad to help
Have you been able to get GSYNC to work? I'm new to dual pc setups.. Should I even bother using GSYNC?
So you dont need to ad an hdmi cable to the out port on the SD60?
hey dude good video only thing is should the audio be connected on streaming pc or gaming pc?
Which audio? The desktop audio and game play audio should be routed throught the HDMI to the capture card. from there to the stream PC. all other audio you would need to use something like Voicemeeter, a streaming mixer (like a GoXLR), or the method I have done on one of my other videos.
This did fix the video not showing properly on the Streaming PC. But I still have no audio, any clue how to get the audio to feed properly? I have the HDMI setup correctly but its never picking up audio unless I switch my audio devices to the HD60 on the Gaming PC. If I open Playback devices like you did on the Streaming PC, HD60 does no even show up on the list. Any suggestions?
we’re u able to fix it?
Will this method cause your gaming monitor to run at 60hz because you’re cloning the 2 together?
THANK YOU
Hi man, great video!
Unfortunately on OBS it doesn't receive the audio imputs, therefore the stream is silent; do you have any idea on how to solve it or what might be the issue?
Thanks!
Did you ever find a way around this?
hi bro thans you so so much this video is it s super
NP man! Glad I could be of assistance!
omg thank you
So, 2 questions. I still can use my DP cable to y monitor and play at 1440p 240hz, but the streaming PC will only output at 1080p 60fps, without issue? 2nd, I do not have a GOXLR or Mixer interface right now. I was going to download and setup Voicemeter Banana to virtually route my audio. Do I still need to do this with the El Gato? I don't want my voice delayed and I definitely need to able to hear alerts when I am on Twitch. Any info would be great. thank you
Hey Evasive sorry for the late reply! In case you havent found a good answer for this yet.
Q. I still can use my DP cable to y monitor and play at 1440p 240hz, but the streaming PC will only output at 1080p 60fps, without issue?
A. Solely depends on the cap card, I upgraded to a HD60X and I have a lot more options. Variable refresh rate, 1440P support, etc..
Q. I was going to download and setup Voicemeter Banana to virtually route my audio. Do I still need to do this with the El Gato?
A. Posted a VoiceMeetrer guide not to long ago, would suggest check that out =). I prefer to use the the cap cards audio via HDMI over VoiceMeeter, purely preference.
I don't want my voice delayed and I definitely need to able to hear alerts when I am on Twitch.
-VoiceMeeter can do this with very minimal delay.
I am having an issue hope you can help. I can’t get my main monitor to clone/duplicate desk top. When I do it it still stays the same. The elgato stays as a separate monitor. Nothing happens. I am running windows 11 if that makes a difference. I can see the elgato capture on my streaming pc but it’s just a desktop. Not sure why it won’t clone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
So from there you need to open OBS on your gaming PC. Right click on the preview window and mirror the OBS preview to the elgato.
Hope that works!
For some reasong its extremely laggy in obs and also I went to see in the hd60s properties and the volume was fine yet I still cant hear anything from obs on my laptop
i had one problem, how come when i alt tab from full screen games i lag when im cloning my screen?
thank you. I may try this once I get back home. I have capture card and I have problem to transferring audio to my streaming laptop. tried pass through HDMI but I had to take audio from my streaming laptop. There is a small delay to the audio which I couldn't tolerate lol.
You can off set audio delay in OBS so it matches your capture card, should be in the advanced audio properties in the mixer.
Audio won't be sent back to the gaming PC though. You'll need a streaming mixer, voicemeeter, or use 3.5 aux cables to send audio between PC's.
If your laptop doesn't have a 3.5 jack you could always try an audio splitter from Amazon. Just food for thought.
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 bro, you are awesome. Thank you for the input. Will figure it out with your suggestion.
Merci tu ma résolu un problème d'affichage
Nividia Panel only shows the Hd60 S and not my monitor with it any ideas as to why?
will that work to record DRM video?
Hey man when I tab out of my game is displays my screen but not my fullscreen game I tab in works on main monitor but doesn’t display on the streaming pc when gsme is fullscreen
Any Reason why i'm just getting a black screen? and no game play or anything from the Gaming PC to the Streaming PC
I'm having issues with the streaming PC where I select the capture card in OBS and nothing is showing up. I did what you requested to do and still its not detecting. Anything I can do?
Hi ATC, could be a couple of things:
-select a custom resolution and frame rate instead of leaving it default.
-try a different HDMI cable. I had that issue with an older HMDI going into the capture card.
-try a different USB C cable, if ur using one different from what came in the box.
-On the streaming PC, make sure you're plugged into a USB 3.0 port.
Let me know if any of these worked.
I’m confused, if I connect the capture card the way you show then what do I do with the out port? If I don’t have an output then the game pc display won’t show on the monitor
It will show with the usb c
why doesnt my capture card show up in my nvidia control pannel it doesnt show on my gaming or streaming pc
Hi, I tried using the tutorial but my HD60s doesn’t show up on obs
once i set up the elgato to my stream pc it shows my main monitor on my gaming pc but the second i click back onto my game the whole recording screen goes black
so what do you do if the change system sounds isnt actually picking up the hd60s
yeah neither is mine
Is this possible with amd graphics card?
Awesome tutorial! I noticed that I have to have my hertz at 60 on both my gaming pc output to monitor and capture card. If I had my gaming output to monitor at 144 and the capture card output to 60hz, It would show green static on my laptop. Idk if this is something you ran into?
Hi Jesse, green static is a new one to me!
What kind of specs is the laptop packed with? and is the laptop the streaming pc?
I have the same problem, green static, on the notebook I do live.
Same green static on my streaming Pc maybe because of the hertz that Hd60 can capture is there a fix on this?
@@jetrotv919
I discovered that the static problem is because the hd60s capture card only goes up to 120 Hertz and if your monitor is at 144Hertz or higher, you would have to leave the resolution of the game pc locked at 120 Hertz.
@@BarretoFps Thanks mate ill try that and update here hopefully it'll work.
Everything works except I only get audio when I choose elgato as sound output but I need it to be my headphones
Okay, but the webcam? If I put the webcam on obs the signal comes later than the gameplay
having an issue where my gameplay is laggy/skipping when trying to use the full screen within OBS how do i fix it
If you are experiencing lag it usually falls into 1 of 2 categories: Render Lag, Encoding Lag.
Check your resource monitor inside of OBS, usually its either you're CPU is being overworked or your bitrate is too high and your ISP cant keep up.
I know I’m a year late. Trying to do this now. Doesn’t show up as a second monitor. Then also when trying the sound settings, it doesn’t list the capture card as a playback device
i cant stream fullscreen game the elgato becomes black screen on stream when the game is fullscreen
I tried adding a monitor this am and switched from clone display and when I went back to clone my obs shows my stream desktop not my gaming desktop. I sure hope this vid gets me back on track so I can stream tonight :/
I have a question. When you use Elgato Stream Capture HD S can you play in 2k and then record in Full HD?
If using the HD60s yes you should be able to. Just play at 2k, then set the base canvas resolution in OBS to 1080p with no downscale filter.
As long as your screen is a standard 16:9 aspect ratio, it should work.
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 not working
mine didn't show up on streaming pc only on gaming pc i cloned it and everything. i only see obs virtual camera and elgati screen link
Good evening, for me everything works, but I have no sound on the streaming pc. I also use VoiceMeeter Potato. How to do ? thank you
Thanks Foxy, for Voicemeeter you're going to want to look into voicemeeters VBAN function. Haven't had the time to make a tutorial for it yet but its on the list.
Basically you can send audio from the game pc to the stream pc via ethernet.
You could also check my pinned comment, which has a tutorial i wrote for an easier audio solution.
Is there any way I can just have it capture a window? I don't want my whole screen captured.
And how can i use my mic from my gaming pc on obs on the streaming pc?????
I have a couple other guides regarding different methods of routing audio for dual PC setups. Either voicemeeter potato, a streaming mixer, or NDI would be what your looking for. I have another method using aux cables and some elgato software as well...not perfect but it's a cheap and easy solution
I play in 1440p but when I do this my monitor gets stuck in 1080p do I need the 4K capture card if I play in 1440p?
Sounds like you might have cloned your capture card instead of the monitor.
Hi, I’m new to the whole streaming thing and I was looking to do a stream as well. I’m just confused, so I take my gaming PC HDMI and plug it into the elgato (in port) then I plug in the USB-C cable from the elgato into the streaming PC. Done.. now I have a black screen and nothings connecting. I can’t use my gaming PC cause there’s nothing plugged into the main monitor….
The tutorial seem pretty clear, but I’m just confused on how you’re using the gaming PC and monitor… Where is the source coming from? Because my only HDMI port is currently plugged into the elgato
Depends on your GPU, my 1080 had two HDMI ports. My 3080 only has 1, I prefer using a display cable for my main monitor since I play at higher refresh rates.
For black screens, could be either the HDMI cable or USB-C cable not being of high enough quality. Elgato products are picky like this.
For audio, it's gonna require either a streaming mixer or an audio outing program to send audio between both PCs
im having trouble with my capture card locking my gaming pc at 60hz...
Can’t use hdr when I clone its work just won’t support hdr and everything looks horrible without it
I did all the steps but it shows a black screen on the streaming pc on obs
What’s the purpose of haveing to have a 3.0 usb as the usb can’t get the audio to come through I haven’t tried the duplicate option yet I would set it up through my gameing pc obs and then capture it too my stream pc
Are you doing a single or dual PC setup?
The audio is passed through the HDMI cable, which is shown in the NVIDIA Control Panel in "Display -> Setup digital Audio".
Then the USB 3.0 cable transfers whatever is fed into the capture card, being both video and audio.
If you found an alternative work around thats great! Audio is always the biggest hurdle thanks to Windows 😋
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 yeah not quite yet lol still trying to get it to work my audio on my gameing pic is going through my razer headphonws
im still struggling with audio, i am able to get my audio to transfer over from the gaming to the streaming, but how do i get to also hear my audio on my gaming. im stuck in an issue i have never been in before
Hi meatball, sorry you are having these issues. Sending audio between both PC's can be kind of tricky, but I wrote an article about it.
Tried finding the easiest most cost efficient method, check this out:
dweebhub.com/how-to-setup-dual-pc-audio-no-mixer/
This is the current setup I'm using while I shop mixers for testing.
yo bro, i got rtx 3090 for main pc and want to record my gameplay smoothly like yours in this video, my question is what spec pc for my second pc just for capturing my main pc for 4k 60 fps with elgato or evga x1r?
I'm currently rocking a Ryzen 7 5800x and a GTX 1060 3gb for my streaming PC.
All the recordings I do are done with NVENC via my 1060 3gb, but she barely makes the cut for 1080p recordings.
I haven't ventured into 4k recordings yet, although I can imagine any RTX card 2000 series or higher should be able to do it adequately.
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 alright i got it thatnks bro !
What can I do if my elgato capture do not appear on the change systems sounds ?
Appears con recording but not in playback
thanks!!! But I have a question. mine looks so choppy! how do I fix that?
That's way too simple of a question to answer. Is it rendering lag? Encoding lag? Dropped frames? Screen tearing?
Need to do a root cause on ur setup to see what exactly is causing the issue. One of the best parts of streaming! 😄
I figured it out and I feel so stupid... I put the usb in the wrong port! Thank you for your vid and response@@dweebhubtutorials4893
would using my i5 chromebook work as a 2nd pc?
That might be a tough sell man, Chromebooks aren't really meant for encoding, but ya could try!
My God ! Save me !!! thaaaankss !!!
Glad I could help
The issuen im having is, my capture device (HD60s) doesn't show up in the playback tab. it does in the recording tab though
Sorry for the late reply to this. Is this regarding the gaming or streaming PC?
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 i have this issue as well it’s on my streaming pc that my capture card is not detecting on either playback or recording
I also have this issue
I use display port for my monitors, can i still use an elgato capture card?
You might need an DP to HDMI converter, but I dont see why not!
I have an issue where the disply is only like 30 fps on my streanming pc
Hi Carson, is this within OBS?
hello my hd60s cannot capture the game :( i followed ur video but nothings happen in my hd60s
If you have issues with the setup. Please make sure you have drivers installed for both pcs
Ya know I never thought about this! Sure enough Elgato does allow you to download just the drivers:
help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027961152-Elgato-Gaming-Hardware-Drivers
Any idea why I get the screen tears on my streaming monitor obs?
That means your gaming pc is sending a raw video signal with a refresh rate higher than what the capture card is capable of handling. I have another video showing one of the more common methods for getting rid of screen tearing, but depending on the card.....your success may vary.
Thanks for watching!
Having a green static screen and audio does not feed in may streaming pc can you help me thanks
For audio, there are a couple methods for sending and receiving audio to and from both rigs.
You'll either have to buy a streaming mixer, like a GoXLR or Elgato Wave. Or the $20-30 option I made a video about called "dual PC audio no mixer".
For the green screen and static, could be so many things. Drivers, bad or older HDMI cable, the stream PC's specs. Hard to tell without more info
@@dweebhubtutorials4893 I bought a Audio interface Maono Caster lite Aum200 but still no avail :(
I am doing everything exactly as described. I have a display port going from my gaming pc to my main monitor. I have the usb type cable going from my elgato hd60s to my streaming pc to a usb 3 port. Then i try to hook the hdmi from the in part of the elgato beside the usb c slot to my gaming pc. As soon as I hook the hdmi from the elgato in to any of the hdmi ports on my gaming pc from my graphics card it shuts off shows a screen but won’t let me do anything. Just shows 1 my wallpaper or 2 black and no port detected. Anyone else run into this?
Change your primary monitor
I'm still having issues where on the Video Capture Device, I click and select the Game Capture HD60 S+ for the Device, and it still shows black
Hi Tumult, is the USB C cable plugged into a USB 3.0 slot? If it's plugged into a 2.0, that could be why the stream PC recognizes it but doesn't display video.
Could be that or the cable if it's one that didn't come with the hd60s
I tried to fallow this tutorial. But for some reason, my elgato doesnt show up on the nvidia control panel or anything. It works, i can get video to OBS and everything, but no sound. And because i cant see the elgato as a driver, i cant fix any issues. If you can do video with more detail and step by step on what needs to be done on both streaming and gaming device, that would be awesome.
im having the same issue and i think its becuase atleast for me it pops up as a webcam and doesnt allow for playback options and i tried the elgato sound control on both but i cant seem to get it even with that stuff unless i missed something let me know if you find some thing out
@@Ramsesamonra if you want high fps than no you lose so much fps even with ndi!
The way you did it is better. Doing it thus way will force your game to be at 60fps, if you use obs to duplicate the screen you can keep your gaming monitor at 144hz or whatever it is and stream at 60fps still.
