So obviously there are a lot more locations for potential installs. Any ideas already in the works? That living room in particular opens up so many possibilities with the Cambridge already there.
No ideas for anything, what's up now is really all that I envisioned after I got the feedback from the parents awhile back "We don't want all those fans". Originally it sounded like I could have free reign and I pictured fans in every place where there's currently a light, plus more, but then I had to scale that vision back. It took some pushing to get this far, I don't foresee being able to add locations in the living or family rooms any time soon. The one thing I'd still maybe like to push for is a fan where the dining chandelier is at, but we'll see. It sounded like maybe they just wanted a new chandelier there, after I did the hallway lights.
I can completely relate, I have wanted to put a fan in my parents living room for as long as I can remember and my mom has always said no. Anywhere that there is already a box I would just try it and see if they liked it or objected, but I draw the line when it requires cutting drywall
See now, I dont get the white Original in the sunroom. With that wood trim I need something wood bladed. But the swag kit looks great. Maybe it'd make more sense to me if it was an older version with 4 blades, let me know if you want to borrow one.
Basically everything in there besides the trim is monochromatic white, the white maintained the airiness without becoming heavy, especially since it's a 52" fan in a smaller space. As usual, you echo the process I went through entirely. I did debate putting wood blades on the white motor, but I think that'd just be way too much. And ChAndrew would self-implode and die if he saw it. 😂 Maybe I'll try it still, whenever someone else thinks differently it gets me thinking in another direction too. It really has to be a white motor though, there's no other relevant finish or color in there to play with. I also debated on the 4 blade factor, but this room feels quintessentially 90s to me, and I felt the 5 blade factor was actually essential.
Ignoring what you said about 90s, what you need is the Matthew O'Neill original. White with wood blades and a trumpet canopy. Adaptair would be even better
If you have a set of wood blades that match the trim that would have theoretically come on a 90s 5 blade original you could try those but otherwise if you're married to 5 blade then you're right it has to be all white
Personally I want to see a 4 blade only motor there, and I think horseshoe brackets would be my favorite for this porch even though they are my least favorite overall on a 52 inch fan
I am trying to get to the place where I can use my NIB, Slumber Quiet, rare flywheel, etc fans without feeling guilty. My shop landlord taught me a valuable lesson. He restores classic cars and hot rods dating back to the 30s, and drives one to work every day. The first time I saw him, I was like, OMG, what if you get in an accident? What if a rock hits it? He said, no one can enjoy it if it stays in my garage. They were made to be driven. That's when I started doing 12 Wings installs, etc etc. Even though I've lost some fans that way, I have no regrets. I've also lost fans to storage i.e. flooding, falling boxes, etc. Enjoy them. If something breaks or fails, fix it if you can, or pack it away broken. Or part it out. All better than packed away working.
That's the point I'm getting to here, I wanted to put up whatever worked regardless of pretty much anything. It's my parents' home to enjoy and I wanted to add to it with whatever I could. Like the Slumber, if it goes out, whatever. I can do three speed and I don't care. The NIB stuff, nothing's happening to it here, I can always dust it off and put it away again. I put that Orchid from Casablanca up downstairs, they sent it to me, I might as well be enjoying it. That's why I wanted a big display, so I can swap stuff out all the time and keep it fresh and put up stuff I wouldn't normally use.
It's 44". Upon filming I realized I'd never actually measured and didn't want to say the wrong thing. I was on time constraint so I couldn't stop to measure it at the time. It really doesn't look much different, I don't know Homestead sizes very well and would've guessed it was 48" or 50", so I'm glad I didn't take a guess on video.
Interesting, it looks bigger than 44-inch, but to my knowledge Homestead never offered an option between 44 and 52 so I really wasn't sure what it was. It actually looks good
I missed this one. It's not an exact match to anything, but it plays well off the bronzy lamps in the adjacent family room and also ties back nicely to the slate appliances in the kitchen. There's also a slight gold undertone which really goes with the cabinet hardware, it's an ideal finish for this location.
Not much other than the aged brass cabinet hardware, I edited my reply to include that, don't know if you saw. The appliances are GE Slate, so like basically a darker gray steel if you're unfamiliar.
Yep, I think so. WAY back in planning stages, before I'd done the bedrooms, I considered my matte black Artisan, but I brought it in there to just look at the finishes together and didn't love it. Too dark really, compared to the other metals. An antique pewter would probably do alright, with the appliances considered. Going in a different direction, the current aged brass trend would actually suit it as well, but the fan selection in that area is kinda limited.
I did mine today (by the way), but unfortunately I don't have time to upload it, because there's a Livestream going on, and I imported the file on one of the laptops upstairs (before that livestream began) and I'm on the desktop computer right now.
these are the fans i want you to do a remake of: 1. casablanca halogen star 2. hunter nouveau art 3. moss wf series 4. casablanca panama halo 5. craftmade constantina 6. craftmade crescent 7. brushed nickle hunter original 8. hampton bay st. claire 9. Thomas variable speed 10. casablanca utopian 11. hunter vista 12. brass banana fan 13. brown banana fan 14. key largo chapparel
I still do not have a ceiling fan in my house because I'm allergic and my doctor recommends using an AC instead of a fan because of dust accumulation and it's bad for my health, blah, blah, blah. But anyways, I found a store in another city that sells these fans. Unfortunately they're extremely expensive and not 220v. It's weird because in my country, some states use 110v and others, 220v, a nightmare for us. But my house is going to have a Hunter fan someday, haha. Happy #NCFD!
That said a SQ fan isnt very useful, I would put it on a wall control or remote and set the SQ to high. Most of your parents guests wont mess with the control.
I've debated on that, the conclusion I've come down to is that it doesn't matter. They have the space, but they don't have guests. Their life procedures prevent them from really having people over to stay in the house, the only person who will likely ever stay in that room is my sister and she figures out how to work stuff if she has to.
I hear you. Like I said in the video, my mom has those 99019 remotes down so she uses the Premium in different ways all the time, and it's great since she doesn't even have to move from the table. When I've done other stuff, anything from Inteli•Touch to pull chains, she won't touch it.
Yes that story tickled me. Too bad you couldn't start her off on something fanimation or even something from your phone like fan sync or whatever Hunters is called.
Nina is a very technically Savvy woman. One of the things that impressed me when we were dating is she usually knew more about something like setting up a router or wireless printer than I did. She has always assembled her own IKEA furniture. Etc. She even has her own lighting tricks that I've adopted and a much smaller lamp collection. Not to mention the story of her removing her ceiling fan and the floor to her room when she was a teenager. All of that said, she refuses to mess with an E fan controls aren't remotes, I think because she's scared of messing up one of my collectible things. I wrote a detailed outline for how to operate the fans in the condo, I posted it on Facebook recently for amusement if you haven't seen it. It did no good. In the condo she operated exactly one fan and that was the air shadow in the bedroom. In our new place she has operated the island fans in the bedroom, the TriStar in her makeup room, and the air shadow in the dining area. I told her I was going to turn everything off when I left and asked if she thought she would use any of the fans. She said maybe the one in the living room. We will see
you should always have all of your fans on your display on display on low speed when you film fans like whoisthisguy724 runs all of his fans on his display on low all the time when he is filming fans
They're not visible when I'm filming in the studio area, so I don't really see what difference it makes other than they'd produce a lot of extra background noise.
It's a lift system to aid in transferring my mom around in the space, and in and out of bed, since she's wheelchair-bound. It covers basically the entire bedroom and part of the bathroom, thus why standard ceiling fans were absolutely not an option in either room since they'd be in the way of the lift.
One of my favorite videos ever! you have such stunning fans!
i love that little cambridge at the doorway.
I'm really happy with the progress you've made in the past several months, and love what you've chosen to install!!! :)
I normally dont like Panamas, 5 blade fans, or white and brass, but I love EVERYTHING about that install. Actually, I want that Panama.
Dan ''Spiffy'' Neuman W/AB is actually really rare
That's a beautiful house!
I forgot about this video I haven’t watched it since it came out 7 years ago also my favorite fan in this house is the premium and the homestead

OMG DOOR CAMBRIDGE I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy National Ceiling Fan Day and happy birthday to you! #NCFD

Did not think I would like the Orchid but I LOVE it in that corner!
Can you do an update video (If it's outdated)?
There have not been enough changes for a new video to be made.
What size blades are on that Homestead? It looks normal.
It's 44". Upon filming I realized I'd never actually measured and didn't want to say the wrong thing. I was on time constraint so I couldn't stop to measure it at the time. Premium looks great. If the bronze matches other metal there's nothing I would do different there.

Vintage Fans & More any other metals in the kitchen or dinette? What color are the appliances?
Not much other than the aged brass cabinet hardware, I edited my reply to include that, don't know if you saw. The appliances are GE Slate, so like basically a darker gray steel if you're unfamiliar.
So the closest common fan color would be iron or matte black. This probably fits as well as anything.
What would you replace the slumber quiet Panama with?
I don't know. Haven't thought about it since I don't plan on changing it as of now.
I would recommend just another Panama. They aren’t bad fans.
I don't have any Panamas cooler than what's already there, so I don't think I'll be changing it.
I did mine today (by the way), but unfortunately I don't have time to upload it, because there's a Livestream going on, and I imported the file on one of the laptops upstairs (before that livestream began) and I'm on the desktop computer right now.
Happy NCFD!
Well you are welcome to any of my originals so long as you pay shipping or we hand them off in person.
Whats that track thing in the master bedroom/master bathroom?
It's a lift system to help transfer my mom around. She is wheelchair-bound.

Understood. Now that I've gone to putting every fan on a remote I likely won't go back. The fans get much more practical use this way
I hear you. Like I said in the video, my mom has those 99019 remotes down so she uses the Premium in different ways all the time, and it's great since she doesn't even have to move from the table. When I've done other stuff, anything from Inteli•Touch to pull chains, she won't touch it.

do you have any verde fans cole ?
I have a Delta II. I think that's it.
Vintage Fans & More i think that hunter vista is verde, is it ?
The only Vista I have is Iron.
Vintage Fans & More oh ok it mightve looked verde in that video

HAPPY NATIONAL CEILING FAN DAY

I don't think that reply went in the right place I suck at doing this from my phone I'm old the end
I got it up on UA-cam Cole, check it out. :) #NCFD
What was that track looking thing in the master bedroom?
