    Tropic Thunder was filmed on my Island of Kauai in Hawaii. Known as “The Garden Island”, we are the go to place anytime Hollywood wants to film any Jungle Scenes for a Movie. King Kong (1976), South Pacific, Jumanji, all the Jurassic Parks, The Descendants, Soul Surfer, North, North Shore, Flight of the Intruder, Dinosaur, Fantasy Island (TV Series), Six Days Seven Nights, Lilo & Stitch, Jungle Cruise, F9, and a ton more!
    I remember when Tropic Thunder was here filming. They rented my new Box Truck to use in the movie as a “Film Crew” Vehicle. They painted it up for the Movie and when they returned it, they had to paint it back to it’s original color.
    I mean, to the minute of detail of factory finish. I was like, you guys don’t HAVE TO do that. Close enough was fine. But they were willing to spend a lot of money to return my truck better than new! So from then on, I never wondered again why they use up Millions of Dollars to Film a Movie! 🤷‍♂️
    I also got to meet Nick Nolte! And let me tell you! His hair and rough look in the movie was NOT done by the makeup department… it was ALREADY Movie Perfect ! 😅

    Is it really “playing blackface” if you are playing an actor who is doing (medically achieved) blackface, and everyone around but him realizes this is a horribly ludicrous and insensitive way for the ostentatious character actor to show what an unaware asshole he is?

      @samgott8689 3 роки тому +14

      Well, I mean, yeah, it does matter. If it were just RDJ playing blackface and none of the context were there, it actually would be pretty horrible. What Kirk Lazarus is doing is super messed up, therefore, RDJ playing him is hilarious. I love how the “for 400 years speech” comes in the context of him copping a beef about Alpa making a bunch of Aussie jokes. He goes from offended about Australian jokes to offended about “the N-word” in the same conversation. Brilliant.

    Shocks me every time I watch it and see Ben Stiller Directed/Co-Wrote and Produced it. He's Not the funniest in it, but thank god he decided to do it because it is an absolute classic that ive watched at least ten times. And RDJ is a treasure. He is perfect in the role and Obviously his season on SNL made him a comedic genius.... Oh and there is a woman in this movie, Stillers wife(exwife?), the girl from Dodgeball is in the clip of Simple Jack. Just the perfect amount of woman in it, about 20 seconds....

    When mcghouney signals to the copter and road runner runs into the forest…
    The panda murder and wearing the skin..
    I’m not mentioning the obvious hilarious moments - the gems.
