I am a Salamanders player as well. Rocking the partybus is one of my favourite Center pieces. Land Raider Redeemer with two squads inside: 1. Vulkan with Company Heroes for good objective Holding and buffing shooting. 2. Adrax and a Lieutnant with 6 Bladeguards. Depending on the Detachment the Lt mostly gets a nice enhancement to further boost the Unit. Great for doing damage and fighting over middle objectives. The Partybus is always fun and opponents usually hate it, which makes me happy 😊
No they spent a long time just being terrible. But now I am so glad they are good. They look awesome and I already had 2 collecting dust and making me sigh that that they weren't being used.
As a collector who loves land raiders (I have a standard one, a Redeemer, a Crusader, a Proteus and soon to be painted Prometheus) this video makes me want to learn to play and run a Landraider army!!
I just built a chaos version last week. Reminded me of when the kit came out in 3rd edition. Fantastic kit for it age and I remember the old derpy land raiders. What a step up. I thought I was in middle school again 😆
A Land Raider carrying a full unit of Blood Angels Bladeguard with a Judiciar has been my go-to blender against hordes. It just destroys even enemy elite units like Ork Nobs and only struggles against tough stuff... and that's what the Land Raider is there to help with.
Judiciar doesn't attach to death company though. Do you mean chaplain? I'm running a LRR with a unit of DC on foot with a chaplain leading them and a 6 man of blade guard with a Lt and captain into some orks next weekend. Should be fun.
@@Theendisnear_ok if you look at the death company in the app or anywhere else it's not listed under abilitys but the tab right below it that says if a chaplain model in your army can be attached to a tactical squad, it can be attached to this unit instead. So yea they can
I've had a fair amount of success taking a full Bladegaurd squad led by a Bladegaurd Ancient and Marneus Calgar in any Land Raider variant (Marneus counts as 2 but that still works out to 11 for transport capacity). They're quite a formidable blender to anything holding an objective and all of their buffs synergize extremely well together and love being taken by something that gets them to midfield safe and fast
The Land Raider was the first mini I bought with my own money (I was given the 3rd edition starter box). It was a beautiful mini and I really wish I still had it. I should go track one down…
I've been running a Land Raider in my World Eaters since the beginning of 10th and it adds a surprising amount of versatility to the army. It also helps give Eightbound some much needed survivability.
That unit can kill literally anything in the game. The only thing I can think of that wouldn't die immediately in one turn from average dice is a fulling loaded krieg squad with marshal and command squad and attaches... but only because of the number of bodies, and even then, with the exploding 5s vow with Helbrecht they'd still might get wiped.
I know the logic is to put something tremendously valuable in a Land Raider, but as a Chaos player, I like to think a little... heretically. I see great potential in putting Legionaries in there with a Sorcerer, using the Land Raider to reach an objective you want taken. Giving the Legionaries the Mark of Slaanesh (Sustained Hits 1 on 5+) and Chainswords/Heavy melee weapons, combined with their "Veterans of the Long War" ability, you have a capable close combat threat. You then have the Land Raider for screening as well as its guns to make up for the Legionaries lack of shooting. As a further defensive measure, the Sorcerer gives them -1 to enemy shooting, with potential cover from the LR too. This could be a superb way to lock down a particular objective after taking it from an opponent. If you really have the points to sink into the army for whatever reason, it never hurts to bring a Warpsmith. Aside from healing the Land Raider, and gaining Lone Operative, making _himself_ hard to shoot, he also improves the To Hit rolls for the LR. And as the transport has to take the same Mark of Chaos, and would therefore have to take Slaanesh too, we get this odd scenario where the LR shoots on a 2+ and hits 6 times on 3+, with Sustained Hits 1 5+ in melee. As for the Warpsmith, it does make you wonder how nasty his Exalted weapon/Warp hammer is with a Mark of Slaanesh...
I think one advantage for taking a land raider in a custodes list is that it gives the army another option for some ranged anti-armour firepower, something that as a faction they severely lack and punching into vehicles despite their incredible combat stats isn't always reliable. It also gives the ability to stick a unit in it that you absolutely need to get deep into enemy territory and do some work, without the worry of having viable deepstrike locations, or having the unit getting whittled down by armies that have reliable ways of removing custodes with shooting. I'm currently tinkering with having one Caladius with arachnus and one raider with a deathball unit of either allarus, guardians or wardens with a character in it that can get up the field to cause problems for the opponent as soon as possible. Having additional transport capabilities for only an additional 25pts makes it a more attractive proposition for me over taking a second Caladius for when coming up against armies that rely heavily on high toughness monsters or vehicles. More options and more flexibility is more good.
My buddy plans on using one for a delivery system for Trajaan and pals. Just run it up the board and dump them on an objective for rerolling wound goodness. Then the thing just sits there and craps out 4 lascannon shots a turn.
@@Wildcat425B i'm gonna be trying it with a 5 man allarus unit with a captain with the mortal wounds on charge enhancement in my next game and see how it does. Giving some threat vs any characters, monsters or vehicles that are a little too exposed. The good thing is if it has decent mid-board presence it can choose to sit and dump shots or move to bolster either flank if it seems to need it.
Personally them being good doesn’t matter to me; as long as the redeemer can continue to transport aggressors I’ll use them for the sole reason of finally being able to transport Flamestorm aggressors in the Flamestorm tank
It’s also just really iconic. I do also want to say the Land Raider proteus is not any differently shaped than the 40K Land Raider its almost the exact same size, off maybe by 1-2mm
I also might use a Redeemer to transport a unit of Blade Guard and a Lieutenant with a Storm Shield. That would be a great combo to take and hold an objective. I think that is close to a 2,000 point list right there.
In a custodes army it's good as long as your are planning on only playing index's units and not FW since the land raider is basically the only unit with big guns when not playing FW's units.
I feel you over emphasise the need to get aggressive and charge out of it. I like to put squads of dev centurions in mine and is a massive boon to have those guys add in extra firepower. Also, ironstorm crusader or phobos with tech marines boosting them with lethal and extra defence can have them blender anything very reliably.
I feel like the Crusader might do quite well in Firestorm as the extra +1 Strength makes a big difference with the Hurricane Bolters. Also putting combos like 3x Eradicators + 3x Assault Centurions inside makes shooting at the Raider a scary prospect due to the Burning Vengeance strat. I recently got into Salamanders (Adrax + Bladeguard is great!) and I'm trying to put together one of each variant so I can play around with them and see which works best.
So glad you made this video! I’ve been trying to find a couple of Land Raiders for a couple of months now, but they’ve been sold out everywhere. I’m sure they’ll be super easy to find now. 😂
Public service announcement: if you’re going to get your first Landraider and buy the old kit, get some rubber bands. This kit sucks. You can use the 30k kit which is much nicer and has dual lascannons for WYSIWG, it’s just slightly smaller though. Assemble the inner walls and glue them to the lower body. Dont glue on the roof. Rubber band that and do not glue on the outer walls yet. Once that’s dry, dry fit the top and outer walls. See all the gaps? Carefully glue on the outer armor and add the tracks while dry fitting the top as you go. It’s easy for the outer armor to slide too far into the inner walls and your roof won’t fit in. If you want to swap the weapon sponsons, don’t use the lower piece that holds the sponson. Go look at the 30k LR, see how the weapons hang? It’s super easy to magnetize your lascannons, hurricane bolters, and flamers just using magnets on the vertical shaft that holds them without needed the bottom support. 5x2mm magnets will hold them just fine, I promise.
When I play Grey Knights, I run a Land Raider mostly because 4 lascannons is about as good of an anti-tank unit as you'll get in GKs. The fact that it can help slingshot a Paladin squad forward is icing on the cake.
While this kit certainly holds up looks wise, people new to the hobby should be aware that it is prone to warping. To get a good fit on some of the parts can take a good amount of sanding or gap filling.
I completely love running my LR in my world eaters, I definitely prefer it over the rhino just for the fire support it has and being able to hop out and charge which they really want to do
Honestly, the basic Land Raider really isn't a great investment for your army while the Spartan Assault Tank is useable in 10th Edition. The Spartan model is the same price as several of the Land Raider variants you mentioned, and only costs 65 more points than that standard Land Raider. For that very minor increase in points cost, you get a much punchier tank with superior Wounds, better OC, and more than double the carrying capacity (28 Astartes/Tacticus models versus the base-model Land Raider's 12).
@@andrewadamski8547 Ah, really? Didn't know that since I've never played competitive. Why aren't they allowed when other HH vehicles and vehicle variants appear to be fine?
@@izzydarkhart4144 Yeah, I learned that shortly after posting. I've only ever played casual games among friends, never by strict competition rules, so it just never came up.
The crusader isn't as bad as it seems, it and the redeemer get 2in more move than the standard LR, and the hurricane bolters specifically get twin linked, same as the assault cannon. The flamers on the redeemer however don't get that bonus, meaning you're going to be landing way more hits with the crusader, and in firestorm especially the reroll wounds give it an advantage that doesn't set it that far behind the redeemer, making it honestly more cost effective for points
Definitely took a hot minute before I could find one at a reasonable price...now I gotta wait for an opening in my schedule to assemble it...and magnetize it.
I've been waiting something like 15 years for Chaos to get their own Land Raider variant along the lines of the Crusader/ Redeemer. Nurgle toxic flamers, Tzeentch inferno Hurricanes, quad Blastmasters for Slaanesh (mine already has those, but they have to run as Lascannons). It seems especially appropriate these days as Firstborn stuff is increasingly seen more in Chaos forces than in Loyalist ones.
IT's good to see a tank I have seen nearly double in ££ over the years finally have the rules to match it - if memory serves me right, these tanks have NEVER been worth it.
I use a redemer to deploy a Deathwing Knight + Captain + optional second character straight onto a target on an objective, avoids the risky 9' charge from a deep strike. The overwatch threat is monstruous
I really, REALLY hope when the inevitable grey knight update comes (probably next edition), they'll make a plastic banisher and make it mainline codex (and actually good) with some now sided mounted heavy psicanon options.
I ran this combo to great effect in my last game, Vulkan Hestan with 10 infernus in a redeemer. They hop out, Vulkan selects a target and all flamer/melts get re-roll wounds including the redeemers flame/melta guns. I also used the immolation protocols strat for extra death 🔥☠️ 🔥
I’ve had success running 10 Assault Intercessors with Tigirius to throw them on a contested objective I was happy the Redeemer didn’t get nerfed in the last dataslate
I just realised the Crusader and Redeemer also have the grenade keyword. Maybe not so meaningful, but still nice, that the grenade launcher is represented.
I've really been enjoying the land raider in csm transpoting legionaries. Been trying them with Lucius and a Master of Executions, they do a crazy amount of work, and being marked slaanesh isnt too terrible for the land raider. They are just too tough for some armies to touch I've found.
So I'll argue their place in anvil as turn 1 I've dropped off good shooting or melee units to skirmish on the midfield and then the land raider sat still delivering very consistent las cannon fire
I've tried running Helbrecht and a 10-man brick of Sword Brethren in a Land Raider Crusader. It's a lot of points (especially now after the balance) but everything in front of it died immediately.
In 9e, I didn’t own any Land Raiders. Since 10e launched, I owned one of every Land Raider. They’re a must for melee armies to charge out and kill everything in their path.
I have a proteus as a vhaos lsnd raider for iron warriors and it is insanely reliable, i don't think i've had any games where it fails to get it's troops into the thick of the fighting. Whether the troops survive beyond that is much less certain however
We in the USA system have heard rumors for milennia of such transport patterns being discovered. But actually being able to source one has been almost impossible it seems as soon as a forge world produces them are instantly gone. Luckily I was able to make contact with a rogue trader who has agreed to smuggle back to our home system for inspection and possible reproduction.
I feel like for TS the land raider's cost is high, considering you kinda loses of one or two cabal point since you'll be forced to let go a sorcerer or squad of rubric for the cost VS a cheaper rhino.
Lost my 2 flamers for the land raider so only got the crusadzr variant. Hopefully i can pick some up in a bitz store or use something else and get the magnets in
The land raider redeemer is fantastic for my Salamanders since I can transport a 6 man squad of bladeguard, Adrax, A lieutenant, and a 3 man squad of eradicators. It's pricy but it is worth the points to me
I think the Land Raider in tenth is going to make it easier for me to play my DeathWing. I just picked up the DeathWing Assault box at a local store , definitely interested in transporting my DeathWing Knights in one. Thanks for making videos at warp speed pace. I don't know how you find the time to sleep. Great Video.
Played mine against the Blink termies, and it kicked butt. Center of the table and if something got close fazapple! 14 wounds with God cannons against his dread, it wasn't pretty. Landraiders rule.
My only critique of the video is that Element Games don't actually provide a discount on the Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer kit, they sell for the same price as GW
Even in HH land raiders are kind of king as far as any vehicle you should be bringing. Rhinos are fine. But a lot of people in general just prefer the versatile aspect of it. Yes in HH AT weapons hit like a dump truck. But it's still considered worth the risk. Not dirt cheap like a rhino, which dies to a wet fart. Or too expensive like a spartan.
Absolutely loved watching this, but at the same time it pains me because the GW seems to have forgotten to restock them in the US. I've been waiting since November of '22, and definitely not paying the inflated 2nd hand prices.
Just starting 40k and was thinking of getting the crusader, is this safe to do and still allowed to use in game? Or is it gojng to be refreshed soon etc? Thanks

I've really been enjoying the land raider in csm transpoting legionaries. Been trying them with Lucius and a Master of Executions, they do a crazy amount of work, and being marked slaanesh isnt too terrible for the land raider.
They are just too tough for some armies to touch I've found.
Thousand sin use it as a gun platform as their bolters are much improved
I love that Land Raider song "Land raider, raider of land" 😜 by miniscape
😅
Love em so much I've done a painting on everyone of em relating to their type, can we use Prometheus types in 10th?.
God dam, i just bought one yesterday :D the man knows my dreams 🎉🎉🎉 thank you 😊😊
I would love to see the LR Prometheus back in regular games. It adds a variant for dealing with horde armies.
I love the Land Raider! It's soooo good this edition... And Tank shock is VERY GOOD lol
This is what i've been saying on my channel for a year now! Feels good, they havn't been useable since 7th edition.
I have a proteus as a vhaos lsnd raider for iron warriors and it is insanely reliable, i don't think i've had any games where it fails to get it's troops into the thick of the fighting.
Whether the troops survive beyond that is much less certain however
In terms of design the Land Raider Excelsior clears the competition easily
Thanks for the video
We in the USA system have heard rumors for milennia of such transport patterns being discovered. But actually being able to source one has been almost impossible it seems as soon as a forge world produces them are instantly gone. Luckily I was able to make contact with a rogue trader who has agreed to smuggle back to our home system for inspection and possible reproduction.
We live in a sector my friend that is made up of 50 different systems.
Thank you for introducing me to Fenris Workshop. My wallet will cry less now
I remember when the LR Terminus came out. Sooo many Las guns. Good times.
Hopefully i can pick some up in a bitz store or use something else and get the magnets in
Finally got my first win in 40K and used a Land Raider for the first time! Definitely a lot of fun having the murder clown car!
The CSM one is great, have 3 in a line with Abaddon behind, either pop his invuln or rerole aura and just march up the board.
I dont Think his invuln aura includes vehicles
@@feytertom but the 30 Legionnaires inside will
@feytertom Saying that I think it'd probably end up being better to have him inside to begin with or in front.
The land raider redeemer is fantastic for my Salamanders since I can transport a 6 man squad of bladeguard, Adrax, A lieutenant, and a 3 man squad of eradicators. It's pricy but it is worth the points to me
"Lamb raiders" courtesy of auto CC.
Now I'm hungry, thanks.
Plot twist, Auspex Tactics is the Omnissiah.
Played mine against the Blink termies, and it kicked butt. Center of the table and if something got close fazapple! 14 wounds with God cannons against his dread, it wasn't pretty. Landraiders rule.
The biggest use for the land raider in Custodes is getting Allarus into melee
Watch out. They'll nerf LRs into the dirt, next.
My only critique of the video is that Element Games don't actually provide a discount on the Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer kit, they sell for the same price as GW
Funny thing in 9th is they were tweaking rules constantly, and the only reason they didn't add Assault Ramp was to sell more Primaris tanks!
Worth noting that both the Redeemer and Crusader also move faster than the regular Raider (12" vs 10")!
I miss the Terminus Ultra variant. 3 overchargable twin lascannons and 2 extra sponson lascannons are really good anti-armor on such a durable unit
How a repulsor executioner is still cheaper than a Land Raider boggles my mind!
Land Raider, raider of land
Land Raider, you know it can!
And it'd called a landraider because it named after ....
Thanks
Hoping to see Gorkanauts and stompas get good too.
Why no Spartan Assault APC but included Proteus?
my 15-yr old self’s glue fuckery immediately eliminated the front ramp functionality on my only crusader. My black templars punch their way out.
With an enhancement, you can deepstrike with the land raider too.
Love mine in my custodes army
