So there you have it. In Florida you have to contend with so many environmental, economic and governmental anomalies who in their right mind would live there?
I live in Port Charlotte on a canal and I have tons of those buggers. I walked out in my yard about an hour ago and got bit ZEVO is a better body spray for insects. Better and stuff with deet. This year is worse with more invasive or problematic insects. A bit of knowledge for everyone. Promote Dragonflies and Damsel flies. One Dragonfly can eat 100 mosquitos away. Put fresh basil in bird baths, small cisterns (if you have them) and in drinking water for chickens and other birds, It prevents skeeter breeding, and Noseeums don't seem to like it either.
We have them in San Diego. You sit out in the evening and the next morning bites ans severe itching all over the ankles. They seem to never go higher than ankles. And the name is correct because you no see um and no feel um until the next day.
I was right there and it was a nightmare, even when I sprayed all my body and head they were inside my car and everywhere. But they were friendly hugging all others who did not have spray, lol.
That’s not good news. What a bummer! We had already planned for over a year to visit Sanibel in a couple of months. I’m very allergic to bug bites and always look like I contract measles all over my body, especially on my legs!!! We wonder how bad are they going to be then? 😢
@@vancolucci5949 my first time there we were loading the boat as fast as we could, being eaten alive, the kids were having to wear mosquito hats with nets, and when we finally leaped into the truck we realized it was also full of them, so the ride was windows down at 60 mph for the first few miles😂😂😂needless to say we now get in before a half hour befor sunset and its manageable
@@vancolucci5949 I will admit, for sheer raw natural beauty it is a breathtaking place to explore, some of the most amazing driftwood Ive ever seen is in that river and its creeks, highly recommend it for anyone who wants to see what wild Florida has looked like for tens of thousands of years or more. I have a video on my channel called "waccasassa recon" that shows a lot of it from the water, cheers!
Wings with teeth.
Skin So Soft works very well to keep those things away!

Once the sunsets I am inside! And you gotta wait at least a good half hour after sun rise

@@SurfCityBill I live near a lake si maybe that's part of it.
We have no see ums in Michigan too, definitely no salt water in the Great Lakes
I was born and raised in Miami Dade. We called them sand flies. So we have developed a 21st century nomenclature for an old problem. Congrats! 🙄
For years this species did not exist, now all of a sudden we're getting an explanation for them 😕

Well, just plan it so you're not there between May through November. When it gets cooler, it dies down a lot.
You may want to go to Vegas instead
Despite what people say they are year round
The solution is B.T. It’s cheap and effective and safe to all creatures but larva.
come visit the Waccasassa River at sunset and youll long for Sanibel lol
Thank you but no, thank you, Waccasassa River. Just from reading it already gives me the itches. 😂
