Honestly. As a woman. I had depression from not being able to speak. Now I basically say everything on my mind and what I feel like eating. I try to feel the kind of food I am hungry for. Pizza, pasta, rice, chicken, steak, salad, burgers, and desserts. I also express any and every kind of feeling for food and emotions. I learned that from overcoming my depression
The popular stereotype is for guys to hate it when women do that. But there are men who will actually engage with you in the sort of conversation. I know because that's how me and my wife communicate.

Outside relationships, not mine direct, often. It is a skill that many should exercise. I am still a shy person and have to push myself to speak and push past the anxiety and fear. It is a mental hurdle. It's good to hear how open you and your wife are, I'm sure you both will be happy together for a long time 😊

As for the feelings, I have lots of unexplainable ones. There was once I cried after listening to an instrumental music which sounded sad, and I used to not cry quickly.
What's funny is in my marriage it's actually the opposite when it comes to food. I love food and eating in restaurants. He doesn't care about food and doesn't like restaurants. Mom and Dad make the decisions, and even then it's usually Dad's final say. The kids, especially the daughters, don't get an opinion. This continues on even into adulthood -- women get asked on dates but don't get to pick where we go for dinner. The man decides. In my case, Mom cooked most nights and if you didn't want to eat what she made, you didn't eat. You didn't get the option of having leftovers or saying "no". So as an adult, coming into the world of "where do you want to go for dinner", I usually have no idea. I'm not used to making this particular choice, so it's usually difficult. I'm 37 now and STILL get hung up on the question. I'm still learning to figure out what I'm feeling and what I want -- because I never had the choice before.
