So, you need the tool to remove the crank but not to install it?

You can use it to install the interior door handles, but it is not needed for any of the window cranks. By just putting the tool upside down on the clip (so, put the tool on the head of the clip, not the tangs), you can use it to press down on the clip and lock into place.
Alternatively, you can use just a thin flathead screwdriver to push the clip down onto the shaft and it'll lock in place on it's own.
The tool helps remove the clips, but, in my experience, has never pushed them completely outright on it's own. I have always needed to use a hooked pick to fish the clip out. Definitely has been more of a gimmick tool in my experience, but countless youtube commenters have stated otherwise, so take it with a grain of salt.
      Hope that helps!

@@marissasimos Thanks for taking the time to write all that.
Good to see you're getting back to your Mustang.

Are you using the longer or shorter tang clips?

@@dannycastaneda1974 I used the longer tang clips as I didn’t have any fitment or interference issues with them- on the off chance I need to take the handles off again (which with my luck is highly likely) the longer tang springs should be easier to access and remove.

The spring goes under the door panel.
