Thanks, my father's club car is doing the exact same thing as demonstrated in your video. I diagnosed it to the starter generator, but our local dealer was suggesting something else (without having seen the cart).
Its really hard to suggest a repair without diagnosing the issue first. When someone says their cart won't start and asks what it could be, its very difficult to pinpoint a solution. Best thing to do is start with the easy stuff, like battery connections, voltage and polarity. These are the most common issues. Next, check for a blown fuse. Typically its a 10 amp fuse that controls the entire cart's electrical system. I usually jump to the solenoid next and see if it has power where it should. Sometimes these will click but not make electrical contact to start the starter/generator. If it doesn't, I check all the micro switches and key switch for voltage and continuity. Sometimes a corroded wire or connector is the cause of many issues.
Thanks for that, Kevin. Those were pretty much the same steps I went through to diagnose the starter generator. Prior to this latest issue, the cart has been having some trouble starting. It would just crank forever before finally starting, especially when it was cold. Once warmed up, seemed to start ok, usually. I suspect the starter generator has been borderline for some time, and sounds like it is a very likely cause of the difficult starting problems. It finally had enough of the long cranking and failed. Thanks for all the videos, I watched quite a few.

I'm running into an issue with my 89 DS where I press the gas pedal down and it's like there's a delay. it starts and the cart moves just fine, there is just a delay almost as if I have to floor it to get it going from a stop.
How do I know which direction my engine runs. New starter generator says clockwise SE where do I put the wires.

Hello,I have 02 club cart that wont start I just had the brushes changed sometimes the motor will turn over but there is no spark jumping the solenoid turns the motor over.hope U can help thanks
It sounds like you have a bad rev limiter or ignition coil. Possible there's a bad micro switch.

Replaced starter/generator on my 95 club car DS. Watched your video to diagnose problem. Replaced and now it’s not doing anything. Won’t turn over at all. Battery is 1 year old and fully charged. The original was a Hitaci GSB 07-04A. Amazon showed that model so I ordered. What I received was Dynamo Generator model 15421N. Is that the correct part?? What else could be the problem?

I have a 85 club car gas will not charge so watch come to figure out voltage reg so put new one on wasnt the problem so put new starter generator on still same issue where to next I checked all wire all are good

If my solenoid works and i replaced my starter and it still intermittently doest crank what else could it be??
Ended up being my solenoid. No voltage across large terminals during no crank.
When I changed my starter the cart no longer goes very fast. Literally about 3 mph is all. When I put the cart in service mode it is the same. It's like the throttle doesn't respond to pressing the pedal. If I reach down to the carburetor and push the throttle with my finger it will rev up. What could be the issue?
A cable has gotten disconnected or is being pinched. There are 2 cables on Club Cars, one from the control box or accelerator pedal that runs to the governor on the transaxle. The other cable runs from the transaxle to the carburetor. I'm willing to bet that the one from the transaxle to the carb is being pinched under the starter/generator.

Do a compression test. It should be over 120PSI. If its lower than 100PSI, adjust the valve lash.
So I’m curious, I have a 2014 club car turf that is spinning ccw so I’m driving in reverse. I’m thinking now maybe someone just wired this starter generator wrong?
A 4-stroke engines cannot run in reverse so I'm thinking they put a different transaxle or engine in the cart.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts ya I think it has the newer rear end and and older fe350. It’s a 14 club car turf 1 and the drive and reverse is flipped so I’ve had rpm issues. I believe I’m driving in the reverse gears. Is there any reccomendations you have to get a little more speed with how it’s set up without changing to an older rear end?
Not really. Your stuck with it unless you swap the transaxle or engine. If you are driving faster in reverse than forward, then its definitely setup wrong. The Turf I was geared lower than standard carts so they are slow but are torque monsters.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts ok thanks for your input, so as far as you know 97 and up club cars should all spin cw right? Mine goes about 8mph and the rpm’s sound normal, if I bump the govenor up to make the cart go 12 or so it just sounds to me like it’s screaming pretty good

I know they started using hydraulic valve lifters in those engines but I cannot remember when off the top of my head. If you have hydraulic lifters, there will be no adjustment for the valves.
