Tomassooooo For those that don't know, GB's Tom Stallard is currently McLaren's race engineer for Daniel Ricciardo, and formerly for Carlos Sainz Jr. One of the few Olympic/Paralympic athletes to be around in Formula 1
What I absolutely love about this sport is seeing all the effort written in their faces everytime they're rowing! You can tell it makes their arms tired. Hats off to my Canadian countrymen for winning the gold!
Everything hurts: arms, forearms, legs, gluts, back, shoulders and you feel your heart and lungs are going to explode. Arguably one of the most grueling, taxing, exhausting and demanding sports, if not the most.
It is literally the most exhausting sport imaginable. I did it for one summer and I play a lot of different sports and I couldn't believe the level of exhaustion and pretty much every muscle in your body. And I was a competitive swimmer. Not even a close comparison.
Lose silver by 0.23 of a seconed and you'd be pretty disappointed too... Also, rowing is a sport where you don't 'win' silver or bronze, you lose gold.
@@pantherablaxxx9930 it's with that attitude as a sportsperson that you would probably never win gold, you need to strive to be the best to be number 1 and only gold matters. To come 2nd is to come last.

The legs get tired too, that's where 70% of the power comes from.
lmao it’s not in the arms

It's cool to see how much the Canadian 8 just hooked into that race. No regrets!
Wonderful talented congratulations to all excellent contestants 👌
1k in only 2 mins 40 secs? That's crazy
And now Tom Stallard works as Oscar Piastri's race engineer
My uncle was in that boat :)
That’s my team ❤️
Que prova emocionante! Muito bom!!!
прошло 10 лет а эмоции зашкаливают!
The 1 and 8 seat in Canada’s boat are in the same side?
Yeah why not! 4 per side, pause at 0:33.
@@hucz my coach once told me that this is bad because that will cause the 8seat to catch on 1 seat’s last stroke
F1 fans here just to watch Tom Stallard?
Goat
ca c'est une belle course la ramerie canadienne enorme
USA didn't seem happy to win BRONZE. :/
jim h erg scores don’t mean anything if you can’t move a boat on water fast. Power to weight is also a big factor.
Who would be happy to win Bronze? They were there to win Gold

@@jamescasey611 I would be disappointed at first but hey! It's still 3rd place... in the Olympics! It's still something!

O' Canada 🇨🇦 beats defending 2004 Olympic Champion Team USA 🇺🇸 at Men's Eight Rowing in Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics!
Well done Canada
What a cool regatta.
This looks really fun
I’m not sur sure I would call it “fun” e
Where is Germany?
I think they were among the food poisoned.
Good question
@@seanwhitehall4652 Them too?. I had only heard about Mahe
@@seanwhitehall4652That’s a nasty way, to spend an Olympics.
Go China.
Where's the commentary?

Wow. 👍
Why does the US team the only team that has a blue boat?
I think they just paint it blue
Yeah it can be whatever color they want for the most part but it’s also a Hudson, while most of the other teams have empachers, which are yellow
Before watching this, I thought Canada’s only gold in Beijing was in horse jumping
Lmao wth
I didn’t watch, the Beijing/Berlin Olympics, either.
Good to compare each years fastest to see how all the gold medalists stack up
