    All good builds, well documented. I'm hoping to build backup wvo heater/stove while I'm working in my shop. I have been burning wmo last couple yrs. As I couldn't find good sourceof wvo. It was free, I pay for wmo and transmission oil but burns clean but I have to heat reservoir and nozzle 60c and 100c. Alot of good builds out there and yours are ON TOP

      @lmtn  2 місяці тому +2

      I'm glad you love the design! Adapting it for your garage sounds like a great project. For cleaning up the remains from waste oil burning, it's usually important to have a proper container to collect the ash and residue. Make sure to let everything cool down before handling, and consider using a shop vacuum specifically designed for ash if there's a lot of it. If you need specific tips on adapting the design, feel free to ask!

    Have you tried running 2 rows of holes in the burner with the holed drilled at an angle to create a spiral to atomize the fuel may stop it from pulsing . Other idea is to add a flame ring

    • @Errol.C-nz
      @Errol.C-nz 2 роки тому

      The pulsing is from too slow air flow causing a backdraft effect.. the burner jets need to be higher above the air intakes to help for a stronger convection draft

    does the used cooking oil or used engine oil do anything with the flame for it to turn blue?

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  2 роки тому +1

      Simply put, when burning them, creating a green flame will reduce the amount of CO2 released, thereby safer for health. At the same time, more heat will be generated. That's why people are often interested in blue flame when learning about this type of stove

    Nice! Does it burn without soot and smell?

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  Рік тому +1

      I'm glad you're interested in the heating system! The absence of soot and odor when burning depends on various factors, including the type of fuel and the efficiency of the combustion process. If the system is designed and operated effectively, it can minimize soot and smell.
      However, it's important to note that when using waste oil or other unconventional fuels, there might still be some potential for odor and soot, especially if the combustion isn't optimized. Regular maintenance and proper setup can help reduce these issues.
      If you have more specific questions or if there's additional information you'd like to know about the system, please feel free to ask, and I'd be happy to provide more details. 😊🔥👃

You can make on out of almost anything, an old brake drum, paint can or a dog bowl can work. Don't even need a fan for it to work. Are those crystal batteries ?

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  Рік тому

      No, they're not crystal batteries. The power source in this setup primarily relies on burning wood in a controlled manner. The use of an electric blower enhances combustion efficiency. While crystal batteries exist, they typically utilize chemical reactions in crystals to generate power, and they're quite different from the wood-burning system showcased in the video. • @lmtn
      @lmtn  Рік тому

      If you need to extinguish a fire in a situation like this, it is important to follow proper safety procedures. Here are some general steps you might consider:
      Close the air supply: If your system has a way to control the air supply (like dampers or vents), close them to reduce the flow of oxygen to the fire.

    • @andycapp3867
      @andycapp3867 21 день тому

      All responsible persons will have a fire blanket and fire extinguisher to hand in an emergency, otherwise turning off the oil supply will extinguish the flames. For your own safety and well being, after turning the oil off, make sure the space is well ventilated.

    Can you explain the engineering decision on why the hole of size 3mm

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  Рік тому

      The decision to use a 3mm hole size in this context may be influenced by several factors, but it's important to remember that the specific engineering decisions can vary based on the design and objectives of the project. Here are some potential reasons for using a 3mm hole:
      1. Combustion Control: A smaller hole can help control the rate of combustion by regulating the air intake. It may be part of a design that aims to achieve a specific burn rate to maximize heating efficiency.
      2. Fuel Atomization: A smaller hole can aid in breaking down the waste oil into finer droplets, which can improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.
      3. Air-to-Fuel Ratio: The size of the hole can influence the air-to-fuel ratio in the combustion process. A 3mm hole may provide the desired ratio for efficient combustion.
      4. Heat Output: The size of the hole can also affect the heat output. Smaller holes may lead to more complete combustion and higher heat output, depending on the system's overall design.
      5. Emission Control: Some systems may use a smaller hole to help control emissions, as it can lead to a more controlled and cleaner combustion process.
      It's important to note that the choice of hole size should be made based on the specific design goals, safety considerations, and environmental impact. Engineering decisions take into account a range of factors to optimize performance and safety for the intended purpose.

    Are these safe to use indoors in the uk?

    • @patandderry8416
      @patandderry8416 Рік тому

      Illegal, unless you pay a tax, but perfectly safe if the exhaust is going up a well sealed flue to the outside.. Problem is that they are noisy because of the fan and the fan takes up electric power which currently is 35p per KW. You'd need to look and the design and how you would get the heat out of it and not send to much heat to the outside.

    Hey. I want to do something like that, but to my five. The chamber will be max about 170/180mm and I don't know what a pipe and a tee diameter will be better - 1 or maybe 5/4 of inch? Bigger pipe is easier to push the air from fan I thing? Cheerio ;) Sorry for my english :P It's not my native language ;)

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  10 місяців тому +1

      No need to apologize for your English; you're doing great! When it comes to choosing the pipe and tee diameter for your project, there are a few factors to consider.
      Airflow: You're correct that a larger pipe can handle more airflow. If you want to maximize air circulation and heat distribution, a larger diameter pipe, like 1 inch or 5/4 of an inch, might be a better choice.
      Fan Capacity: The size of the fan you plan to use can also influence your decision. Make sure the fan's capacity matches the chosen pipe diameter to ensure efficient airflow.
      Available Space: Consider the available space in your setup. A larger pipe might require more room, so make sure it fits comfortably within the chamber you mentioned (170/180mm).
      Heat Transfer: A larger diameter pipe can distribute heat more effectively, but it may take longer to heat up initially. Consider your specific heating needs when making this choice.
      Ultimately, the choice between 1 inch or 5/4 of an inch will depend on your specific requirements and constraints. Experimenting with both sizes may help you determine which one works best for your project. Good luck with your endeavor! 😊🔥

    so the holes are just an air source? and the blue flame stays near the holes but what causes the vaporization of the oil?

    • @knowledgeispower4u
      @knowledgeispower4u Рік тому

      Without forced air, the flame would burn yellow and there would be a lot of black smoke coming from the burner.
      When you force air into the bottom of the burner, it combines withcaausing the oil to burn at a higher temperature, which vaporizes the oil.

    S’il vous plaît comment dimensionner vous le brûleur ??
    Comment savoir qu’il faut tel nombre de trous à telle hauteur ??

    • @lmtn
      @lmtn  Рік тому

      Le dimensionnement d'un brûleur pour un projet particulier dépend de divers facteurs, notamment le type de carburant que vous utilisez, la taille de la chambre de combustion, l'objectif du brûleur (chauffage, fusion, etc.), et la conception globale de votre système.
      Pour déterminer le nombre de trous et leur hauteur spécifiques, vous pouvez suivre ces étapes :
      1. **Calculez les besoins thermiques :** Déterminez la quantité de chaleur nécessaire pour votre application. Cela dépendra de la tâche que vous effectuez, par exemple, fondre du métal ou chauffer un espace.
      2. **Choisissez le carburant :** Sélectionnez le type de carburant que vous utiliserez (gaz, huile, bois, etc.). Chaque carburant a ses propres caractéristiques de combustion, ce qui affectera le dimensionnement du brûleur.
      3. **Consultez les spécifications du carburant :** Les fournisseurs de carburant fournissent souvent des informations sur la combustion, telles que le pouvoir calorifique, le débit de carburant, et la pression requise. Utilisez ces données pour calculer la quantité de carburant nécessaire.
      4. **Concevez le brûleur :** Concevez la configuration des trous de manière à répartir uniformément la chaleur dans la chambre de combustion. La taille, la répartition et l'angle des trous peuvent influencer la performance du brûleur.
      5. **Testez et ajustez :** Une fois le brûleur assemblé, effectuez des tests. Surveillez la température, la stabilité de la flamme et la consommation de carburant. En fonction des résultats, ajustez le nombre et la taille des trous, ainsi que leur position, pour optimiser les performances.
      6. **Considérez la sécurité :** Assurez-vous que le brûleur est conçu avec des mesures de sécurité appropriées, telles que des dispositifs d'arrêt d'urgence et des mécanismes de régulation.
      Le dimensionnement d'un brûleur peut être un processus complexe, et il peut être utile de consulter un expert ou un ingénieur spécialisé dans le domaine de la combustion pour obtenir des conseils spécifiques à votre projet.
      Avez-vous une application particulière en tête pour laquelle vous souhaitez dimensionner un brûleur ? Des informations supplémentaires sur votre projet pourraient aider à fournir des directives plus précises.
