I used to work maintenance for a hospital. We serviced our air handlers every month. We had some guys that put like 50 pumps every month. We messed up several motors. We started a program how many pumps and how often. Cured a lot of our problems. Thanks
I was always taught to gently spin the motor shaft while greasing bearings. I was taught that that ensures that the grease was distributed all throughout the bearing instead of just taking the easiest path to the exit, which doesn't necessarily pack the whole bearing
It's also nice to get in the habit of writing on the motor the bearing size and when you last replace them along with the grease specs for that motor. Easy to get turned around when you have a few dozen motors
Hi. How would you suggest cleaning a very greasy motor? It's an old motor with cloth covered wires. The stator, armature and windings are just caked with grease (it shares a housing with a geared grease filled transmission). I've heard to use mineral spirits or hot water and soap. Then heat an oven to about 100 degrees and let it dry out for several hours. I figure soap and water may be less aggressive on the old windings, but don't necessarily like the idea of using water. I have also seen brake cleaner used by some. Thanks!
Good clear how to video. The reason to Not mix grease types. Not all greases are chemically compatible mixing may cause the grease to dry and harden or the opposite the grease may liquify and puddle. In both cases the bearing can loose its well intended lubrication.
From the manufacturer of the grease, iv used the same grease in all motors for over 20 years from 1hp to the lower units of 200hp turbine motors and have never had a issue
hi another great video, you still sound like a bad running hit and miss engine, stop smoking, and clean up the buts off the floor it looks the rest area in a cancer ward? we don't to loose you?

I've rebuilt motors before the windings was full of grease. I do my motors like twice a year, great info,

Thanks for all the shop tips, please keep them coming.
Omg you SAVED MY ASS, I was thinking... oh god why are their 2 locations. Oh one is the drain and the other is the flap, second to last.

Good tips all around man, but the gun tip spins for a reason! :) might fix that “tight fitting” issue :) thanks for the upload

Never had a motor with an actual zerk fitting on it.. always have to remove the bearings to grease em or are meant for oil..
It’s not common on smaller motors for sure
How can you find out grease specs?

Great informational video . Thank you 🙏
Your welcome, thanks for watching
shouldn't you do that running the motor???
Iv never done it with the motor running and never had a single issue, I’ll spin them by hand a little while doing it
Thanks for this educational video
Nice, thanks for the tips.

Have you ever made any friends by shaming them? Have you ever had a positive influence on anyone by shaming them? Maybe consider this?
