- This is my first experience to the Event... in Namalsk DayZ Edit: Informed it's called EVR/Psionic Storm. I had no clue this was going to happen, and I'm told it is a rare event!

I love how you had experienced this while a random strolled up on you and was also completely clueless about what was going on
One thing I love about Namalsk is the reactions of DayZ players who have never played STALKER games, so they don't know know what a Psionic Emission is and what the visuals of one are.
In STALKER though, Emissions are far more deadly.
Being caught in the open will kill you (you need to find appropriate solid shelter). If you live, the game will roll map-wide RNG on whether exposed NPCs outright die or turn into brain-fried gun-carrying zombies. Anomaly fields will change their structure. Random anomalies will get scattered around the map. Mutant aggression and activity will explode for a short while after the Emission.
These are all the original sounds from the Mission for this map in Arma 2
Originally they are from the STALKER games, but Sumrak did an amazing job fitting them into Namalsk's gameplay.

@@DigitalHi5 Sometimes when you are in buildings you can hear people walking around above you or things getting knocked over. It's a really creepy map especially for those who never played it on Arma 2.

I was legit freaked out for a long while. I'm glad the guy didn't kill, I was so scared out of my mind I didn't hear him coming at all.
Stalker Anamoly emissions are cooler. Insanely loud and intense sounds for the whole storm.

This is as far as I understand.
On the island of Namalsk was found some artifact that was discovered could create a wormhole to another planet.
A private company started to experiment on this technology. These experiments were causing some problems in the rest of the world I guess, though I don’t know what kind of problems. But a combined NATO/Russian force surrounded the island and ordered the company to cease the experiments. Due to the company not complying they chose to launch a nuke on the artifact site. When the nuke hit, the wormhole was open and the vast majority of the blow was taken on the other side of the portal but the site was destroyed. The destruction of the site didn’t however destroyed the portal which remained open, it just severely destabilised it. So every now and then the portal overloads in it’s attempt to realign and the discharge of this energy is what causes the anomaly storm that affect the whole island.
So it's a event that can happen at anytime but its rare?
The rareness I think is knowing when it'll happen.. I honestly don't know though.. I played 5 hours last night and did not experience it.

The first couple of times you experience this event it's scary and kind of fun but after a time it's nothing but annoying. I absolutely hate it.
I enjoy the additional challenge it adds. I'd rather survive the elements vs oh great, spawn killed in Vorkuta again..
@@DigitalHi5 there's your mistake. Do not go to vorkuta unless you need meds from the hospital. go to jalovisko, its got better food spawns anyway.
Is this vanilla or a modded server?
Namalsk is a unofficial map, so all servers are a modded server.. it is created by the head map designer though.

It's inspired from the game STALKER.
Namalsk has inspiration from a few awesome games. HalfLife Easter eggs can be found in a few locations.

Not really.. it can be bad at times... but it has a lot of survival aspects that actually make it a challenge. A lot of time it's about adventure and teaming up to survive.
