After that, I plugged the stick into my Aspire 5 A515-45(-R81U), pressed fn and esc and while holding that, turned my computer on. The fan started spinning around 15sec later, after around 5 minutes, the update finished and my computer shut down. I removed the stick and started it like always. It took around 30 seconds on the first start until I got a picture.

I have a Nitro 5 AN515-55. Having this same issue after upgrading bios from 2.03 > 2.06 and it failed midway. The .fd files available to me dont seem to be doing this? What can I do?

try to run the .exe file from another pc, when the pc gives you error, do not close the program, but go to C: / users / youraccount / appdata / local / temp, now find the temporary folder of the exe, inside it , there will be the .fd file
mine has no fd file even in the temp folder with error message displayed. this is for a newer laptop. There is a bin file in there and I am wondering if it could be the same?

Alternative method from web: The Solution: Clearly, you require another functioning laptop to create the USB Crisis Disk. The following is what worked for me: 1. Plug in the USB stick (I was using an old 512 MB Mini Cruzer USB stick) 2. Select the Fast Format option and click Start. Then click Next. 3. Click Format and then Exit to complete the operation. 4. Download latest BIOS update from Acer website for your particular model (Acer Aspire 5349). In my case it was v.1.0.8 5. Extract the zip file. Go to folder called Windows and extract ZQR.fd from the ZQR_108W.exe file using Universal Extractor v1.6.1 or 7-Zip v9.20 6. Download the Phoenix/Insyde Tool v2.50. Unzip the file and run PhoenixTool.exe. Then in this program where it says "Original BIOS" load the ZQR.fd file to figure out whether you need to rename the ZQR.fd file to something else (ie. I have seen .BIN, .WPH and .ROM out there on the internet which can get super confusing!). In my case, the PhoenixTool.exe told me to leave my file name as ZQR.fd. This is your first file to copy over to the USB stick. 7. Then download WINCRISIS v.1.0.0.4. Unzip the files and copy the following files onto the USB stick: MINIDOS.SYS, PHLASH16.EXE, and BIOS.WPH To be clear and to recap, the only files that should be on your USB stick are: ZQR.fd, MINIDOS.SYS, PHLASH16.EXE, and BIOS.WPH. No other files or folders should be present. 8. Next, make sure your Acer Aspire 5349 laptop with the corrupted BIOS is powered off and unplugged (I had my laptop battery inserted). I inserted my USB in the left USB slot on the laptop (ie. I had 2 on the right also, not sure if it matters which one you use!) 9. Next, to cause the laptop to enter the BIOS Recovery Mode hold down the Fn + Esc keys and plug in the AC power. Continue holding the Fn + Esc keys and press the Power button. Continue holding the Fn + Esc keys for approximately 5 sec. The blue AC power light on the laptop should start blinking and the USB stick will light up which will hopefully indicate your BIOS is being recovered. The computer will reboot once and allow you to start using your laptop again! The recovery took about 2-3 min in my case.

edit if you have the same problem with your Nitro 5 an515-57, you can use this tutorial just extract the bios and you can found the .fd files, there's 3 .fd files you should use the GH5XGx64_TI.fd. after that you can hold Fn+Esc and Power button for 10-15 seconds, the charge led will light after that the laptop will restart, you can click the power button again and the laptop will Recovery by itself (it takes 1-2 minutes) sorry for my bad english

got a problem. my current model, acer aspire esi 531 c2ye doesnt go to that blinking step. the files i copied was dom122.fd and h2offt.exe (i couldnt find insydeflash.exe) the laptop wont go to the blinking stage. and yes i was updating the bios but my line cut which made this monstrosity. any helps? thank you

in the dos folder, change the extension of the file JE40124, rename JE40124.rom in JE40124.fd and copy to usb drive formatted in fat32. If it doens't work, try to rename the other file JE40124.wph in JE40124.fd. and copy to usb drive formatted in fat32. Fn+Esc and click on power on. :)

It was containing multiple fd file with name like this, "z8v_multi.fd, z8v2_multi.fd, z8v3_multi.fd, etc" what I notice is that my BIOS is using the z8v2 version as it's listed on the bios itself. But I don't know the correct step to flash it via fn+esc button, I've tried your method, copy all files method, criswin method by copyin 3 file from their folder + the fd file from the extracted bios. I've tried clearing CMOS, twice, tried connecting to external monitor via HDMI, none of that working. I already fixed it, I noticed the Acer logo when I turned on the laptop, the bios firmware disabled the backlight of the monitor. I used flashlight to see the the display xD.

Hi, mate I had similar problem when I was putting together my laptop. After 5 years happened to me again.
Downloaded bios 2.21 did what I did ears a go and same what You did and hmmm fan on full speed for 20-30 ? minutes and still going and nothing happens when years a go it worked after seconds...
Are you sure your problem is bios?

if you have the same problem with your Nitro 5 an515-57, you can use this tutorial just extract the bios and you can found the .fd files, there's 3 .fd files you should use the GH5XGx64_TI.fd. after that you can hold Fn+Esc and Power button for 10-15 seconds, the charge led will light after that the laptop will restart, you can click the power button again and the laptop will Recovery by itself (it takes 1-2 minutes)

hi so when i follow the steps for my acer nitro 5 an515-53 in my windows folder there is no insydefladsh or .fd extension files. all there is in the windows folder is a .exe File. can I do it with just that?
I don’t think this guide is compatible with your notebook, use a programmer for writing bios

Hi, the mode is the same of the video, my guide doesn’t work for any models. Maybe you need a programmer and .bin file of your bios and write with programmer

got a problem. my current model, acer aspire esi 531 c2ye doesnt go to that blinking step.
the files i copied was dom122.fd and h2offt.exe (i couldnt find insydeflash.exe)
the laptop wont go to the blinking stage. and yes i was updating the bios but my line cut which made this monstrosity.

I have Acer inspirion 4755g laptop and it looks like bios error. I wanna restore. unfortunately, i can not find *.tf file. I just found *.rom and *.WPH file from DOS folder. what I do now?
in the dos folder, change the extension of the file JE40124, rename JE40124.rom in JE40124.fd and copy to usb drive formatted in fat32. If it doens't work, try to rename the other file JE40124.wph in JE40124.fd. and copy to usb drive formatted in fat32. Fn+Esc and click on power on. :)

It was containing multiple fd file with name like this, "z8v_multi.fd, z8v2_multi.fd, z8v3_multi.fd, etc" what I notice is that my BIOS is using the z8v2 version as it's listed on the bios itself. But I don't know the correct step to flash it via fn+esc button, I've tried your method, copy all files method, criswin method by copyin 3 file from their folder + the fd file from the extracted bios. I've tried clearing CMOS, twice, tried connecting to external monitor via HDMI, none of that working. I'm currently stuck at no display laptop, I feel like it's all matter to finding the correct way to somehow make my laptop read the bios file in the flashdisk. I'm broke atm & can't really just afford a new laptop that easily right now, any help that can pinpoint me to the correct step would be very appreciated.

Use the 7zip and open the only executable file pressing ctrl-pgdown then extract the files somewhere

Try with another usb, formatted FAT32, don’t forget to insert .fd file (important), insert into another USB port.

I accidentally flashed a wrong bios firmware today, and my laptop's keyboard is not working. Unfortunately my external keyboard doesn't have Fn key :/

I already fixed it, I noticed the Acer logo when I turned on the laptop, the bios firmware disabled the backlight of the monitor. I used flashlight to see the the display xD.
