- The Pittsburgh Steelers saw Cam Heyward arrive at OTAs Tuesday, where he spoke with Pittsburgh media about his current contract status with the team. Chris Carter and Alan Saunders discuss what Heyward said, and whether the three-year extension wants is the right new contact extension for Omar Khan and the Steelers.
Also, the Steelers' receivers are tired of hearing about how the team needs a trade. And that's led Calvin Austin to have a chip on his shoulder to prove he's ready to be the team's No. 2 receiver. But can he prove to the team he's ready for the role so that they don't need to trade for Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel or Courtland Sutton?

Cam’s our 2nd best DL this year but next year he might be our 3rd or 4th. So, how much would he be worth then?

@@chrisjohnson4796 Benton is probably better than him right now.. And if we get a rookie in the first or second round next year, they’ll probably be better too.. And even if they’re not there’s no way he’ll be 20 mill better at 37 years old.

Cam at $16.4/yr is ranked #19 for pay amongst DT's. That sounds very reasonable to pay that in 2025 & 2026 as he'll be at least a top-15 DT (But not top-5 thru 2026).
Top-5 $$pay in 2024-26 will be $30+Million/yr 😮. $16.4 would be a bargain, but sounds like he wants closer to Top-5 money 🤑
Of course he could play until 37-38 but how much will his play be worth?

No he is not. He is worth not another dollar. Time to move on after the season. He's lucky they don't cut him for this season and that the Steelers have no replacement for him currently.

Cam was injured last year. Injuries happen. The two years prior to last he had double digit sacks both seasons. Now you want to just cut him? Waiting until next offseason to extend him. Fine. Cut him? Just not very bright my guy.

@@jpreacher66 I was just trying to be nice saying hes worth 8 million. I would love to see Cam either retire or get traded. Cam wants a 3 year/60+million$ contract. He won't get that anywhere. Cam is greedy deluisional. And I think Keannu Benton is a great replacement for Cam. If the Steelers give Cam anywhere near what he wants, it will be nothing more than an act of loyalty from the organization.

I’ve read one of Cam’s contact demands is to give Connor an extension as part of the deal. I think that is a deal breaker. Shouldn’t be so readily blackmailed. The contact isn’t about his brother and Cam should let his brother earn his extension like every other player.
