To add context to the Comoros flag: The four stripes added represent the islands of the archipelago, just like the four stars. Yellow for Mohéli, white for Mayotte, red for Anjouan and blue for Grande Comore. Mayotte is a French overseas department but are claimed by the Comoros as theirs. The reason why Mayotte remains French is because the island rejected independence twice in 1974 and 1976. And in 2009, the island voted in favor of becoming a department. Mayotte has a stronger link to France than the rest of the Comoros because they were French for far longer, as it became French in 1841, who repopulated it and made the island a sugar island. The others became French in 1886. The design of the flag of Georgia dates back to the 12th century as a coin of the King David the Builder with it was discovered in late 2021. It also appeared as the flag of Tbilisi on a 14th century map by Domenico and Francesco Pizzigano. The Kingdom of Georgia lasted from 1008 to 1490. After the fight for independence from the Soviets, the flag was used in the early 2000s by the main opposition party, the United National Movement led by Mikheil Saakashvili, as a symbol of popular resistance to Shevardnadze's rule (a rule marked by rampant corruption) as well as a symbol of the Rose Revolution. So when Shevardnadze resigned and Saakashvili won in a snap election, he endorsed the flag.

Turkmenistan is one of my favorite flags because while I typically like a simpler flag, I make an exception for certain flags that look cool because of it being more complex, and Turkmenistan is one of them. There are five stars on the Turkmen flag to represent both the five regions of the country (Ahal, Lebap, Mary, Balkan, and Daşoguz) and the Five Pillars of Islam. A carpet is on the hoist side to signify the historic Turkmen carpet industry. There are five different designs for the five major Turkmen tribes, which from top to bottom are the Teke, Yomut, Saryk, Chowdur, and Ersari. The olive branches at the bottom were added in 1997 to represent peace as Turkmenistan became a neutral country in 1995. And regarding the East Timor/Timor Leste flag, even though the official flag is supposed to have a slanted star, an interesting fact is the flag flown during the independence ceremony in 2002 had a straight star despite the clear specifications and also had an aspect ratio of 1:2. The East Timor flag was designed by Natalino Leitão (who died when Indonesia invaded) was based off the flag of Fretilin which was the dominant party at the time of their original independence in 1975, and it has been assumed that the flag was also inspired by Cuba and Mozambique as Fretilin had sympathies for FRELIMO and their fight for Mozambique independence from Portugal, and Che Guevara.

That‘s not 100 % true. The official flag of Martinique is still the flag of France. They just get a new regional flag since 2023, which they are using for sports or cultural events.
The video is about countries, Martinique isn’t one but an overseas department of France. It could introduce a new flag every day but wouldn’t be featured in a video like this
Great video! I didn't know about a lot of these! Small correction when it comes to the flag of South Sudan: The flag shown in the video was never the official flag. The star is not tilted and the cerulean blue is actually cyan (think Saint-Lucia). The flag you've shown is an incorrect variation widely believed to be the official flag until this year due to photographs of flags in South Sudan being very ambiguous (if I remember right)! A few months ago, the government made it clear which version of the flag is the correct one. I think that announcement was made early this year, but it might have happened after the video released.
Nice video :) I'd like to add that the eighth star added to the Venezuelan flag symbolizing Guayana province is representative of the 2nd time Venezuela declared independence, not the 1st. It's kind of a bummer that it's not referring to the original First Republic in my opinion :/
Wrong, that's 51. In 2023, South sudan's blue color turned light blue and the star is rotated back to normal. In 2023, Vatican City's keys are different. In December 22nd 2023, Kyrgyzstan's sin is different. In December 8th 2024, Syria's flag just reverted (1932-1958 and 1961-1963), but the aspect radio is changed to 3 by 5.) So it's 51.
Montenegro actually did something in 2006 that was like a red on top light blue in middle and white on bottom but THEN changed it to the current in 2007

In 2023, South Sudan and Kyrgyzstan changed their flags too
Edit: Syria will probably change their flag too
I’m exited for this
nobody: Afghanistan *changes flag everytime*
Me: bruh it's Afghanistan again
When I was a kid i saw the green flag, i never understood what it was but now 8 years later I finally know
This is a very good video, can't wait to see more national flag changes from the either the 1900s or just the decades of the 90s specifically the 80s or 90s
Edit: decades of the 1900s
Very cool
Do evolution of flags since 1980-2000
I can "From this to this" all day
Loved this video! Would love to see the flag changes from every 25 years like 1975-2000 and 1950-1975. Also small note Lesotho is pronounced Lih-soo-too, you don’t pronounce the th like usual and the o’s sound like they do in the word too or two.
Nice
Plz do Level Up Indonesia. Sirvijaya Empire (correct me if my spelling is wrong), Majapahit Empire, Dutch East Indies and Indonesia.
Can you upload all changes to national flags in the 20th century? I don't know if you can do it.
This year the french overseas department of martinique changed its flag
That‘s not 100 % true. The official flag of Martinique is still the flag of France. They just get a new regional flag since 2023, which they are using for sports or cultural events.
The video is about countries, Martinique isn’t one but an overseas department of France. It could introduce a new flag every day but wouldn’t be featured in a video like this
In 2023 Recently Martinique 🇲🇶 Changed Its Flag
Nas daily: The world is loosing colour
Me: Because countries are decreasing saturation from their flags
Great video! I didn't know about a lot of these!
Small correction when it comes to the flag of South Sudan: The flag shown in the video was never the official flag. The star is not tilted and the cerulean blue is actually cyan (think Saint-Lucia). The flag you've shown is an incorrect variation widely believed to be the official flag until this year due to photographs of flags in South Sudan being very ambiguous (if I remember right)! A few months ago, the government made it clear which version of the flag is the correct one. I think that announcement was made early this year, but it might have happened after the video released.
Good video
Ah yes, my country literally gaining indipendence is not mentioned
Which country¿?
Kosovo?

I never knew South Sudan is only 19 days older than me!
Nice video :)
I'd like to add that the eighth star added to the Venezuelan flag symbolizing Guayana province is representative of the 2nd time Venezuela declared independence, not the 1st. It's kind of a bummer that it's not referring to the original First Republic in my opinion :/
45, most French who are aware of the change (there was no comm on that topic) don't understand why it was changed.
I knew georgia is a colony of the German empire
Wrong, that's 51.
In 2023, South sudan's blue color turned light blue and the star is rotated back to normal.
In 2023, Vatican City's keys are different.
In December 22nd 2023, Kyrgyzstan's sin is different.
In December 8th 2024, Syria's flag just reverted (1932-1958 and 1961-1963), but the aspect radio is changed to 3 by 5.) So it's 51.

@Jcubhold I'm sorry but you need to learn English. I'm the first comment on this video, Not the newest.
I don’t know if this counts but Martinique changed their flag in February this year
Martinique is an overseas department of France, not a country, that’s why it wasn’t included.
That"s why i love Geography!
Montenegro actually did something in 2006 that was like a red on top light blue in middle and white on bottom but THEN changed it to the current in 2007
Sad Kosovo noises
Not a country. Cry for it.
Do you live in 2007
He only showed the countries recognized by the UN.
