  • Thanks to AKITO BOOTS for letting us visit, check him out:

    In the city formerly known as Saigon, Trung Le has built his expertise as the city's only hand welter: one dedicated to preserving and promoting the old fashioned way of making boots.
    And we're talking "16th century old fashioned": the Goodyear welt machine was invented in the 1860s to replace the centuries-old hand welt process, but certain dedicated bootmakers continue to use the painstaking old ways because of the superior durability, sure, but also to forge a stronger bond between craftsman, boot, and customer.
    That could be you! You should buy some of his boots! Or at least watch the video. Have you watched it yet?

    I am Vietnamese and love boots. This video fills my heart with joy. Mr Trung is obviously an outstanding man and makes me feel proud of my heritage. Keep craft alive. Artisans deserve and will always be supported by me any my dollar!

    Last December, I was lucky enough to visit Trung in his new shop. We chatted a ton about boots and did a fitting for a new pair of MTO boondockers. He's truly a wonderful man!

    In this AI advanced tech era we are living in, it is inspiring and even comforting to listen to a craftsman who loves his trade.

      @@suitrBJ actually I usually try to sound less Australian when talking to someone whose second language is English - Australian accent is harder to understand haha,

    1:53 I'd say the french conquest of vietnam ended when Uncle Ho chi ming declared indipendance in 1945, or with japanese kicked them out. you probably didnt ask any vietnamese lol

    • @Stridewise

      @ wait are you saying I should have listened to a Vietnamese person or I shouldn’t have, you’re already contradicting yourself already

    • @rogerr.8507
      @rogerr.8507 5 днів тому

      @Stridewise I'd like to say that you didn't address the innacuracy/error because you only wanted to call the audience names. It's not impossible to find a vietnamese to say anything and you want to hold on to just that. I'll also call you a liar and say no vietnamese said that if you insist

    • @Stridewise
      @Stridewise  5 днів тому

      @ you said i should have asked a vietnamese person, i told you i did, then you said i shouldn't have believed him, and now there's just nowhere to go here
