Cleaning The Moldiest Car Interior Ever! BMW E30 Interior Detailing Restoration

  • We back! Today were detailing the interior of this moldy BMW E30. Quite possibly the nastiest interior I have ever cleaned and it just so happens to be my own car. I wanted to capture as many as the major steps as possible but of course not every single thing was recorded. However I think this videos sums up what it takes to tactical a moldy, nasty, car interior. From dissembling and removing the seats to safely neutralizing the mold and deep cleaning all the upholstery, this little E30 got a little but of everything. Even some repainted seat rails to try and aid a little rust issue. I had a lot of fun filing this video so if you would like more stuff like these please let me know! Regular uploads will be starting nice again! Its been a wild summer.

      @@robertbrolo486 the BMW E30 was made from 1983 to 1994. Usually you can tell more specific from which year if you can see the front. As there's two types. Pre- and post "face-lift" if you will. My guess is that it's from around 1991, so second generation E30. It looks just like mine on the inside. Except the steering wheel, which seems coming from the E36 if I'm not mistaken. But as said before, I don't know too much about the interior and thus the steering wheels.

    moldy as it may be, the interior in that was pretty mint. Even the dash isn't cracked. Nice job!

      Haha very true! The interior was actually one of the main reasons for buying this specific car. Floorboards are mint and everything is in great condition. Just need a new piece of foam for the driver seat.

    Solid detail!
    Two things I’d like your input on,
    1) why did you just use multi-x on many of the hard panels and not a disinfectant? Does multi-x work like one?
    2) using an extractor instead of steam can spread any live organisms. Have you had any issues from this method?
    Once again solid results!

      I have a chief steamer and the extracring hose goes to vacuum and and then a diff one goes to the steamer. The injected water is HOT
      You can see the water being injected and then sucked up. He didn't spray enough cleaner on it for that much liquid to come up. That hot water definitely did the job

    Great video! I have a shop in MA and I like your process. Not to sound like a Karen but the only thing that make me cringe was when you sprayed all of the electronics (radio, climate controls, etc) it’s really easy for water to get inside those units and it can actually short them out. Trust me I know, I just had a BMW four series come in and the dual climate control module got shorted out because of “detailing chemicals that were sprayed on it.” According to the dealer. I always tell my guys to always always always spray the towel and then wipe those areas around any switches or infotainment screen, radios, etc. It cost me $2100!!! Usually I would’ve insisted on allowing me to have it fixed/replaced but he’s one of my best customers. He’s been a great customer since day one 13 years ago and it was his sons brand new car and it was super cold out so I just told him to get it fixed and I would take care of it.
    Long story short it’s something to think about. Keep up the great work!!

    Would this work for leather seats? I have a Suburban that has been sitting for almost 3 yrs that needs the interior cleaned very badly. It has pretty bad mold from a leaking windshield.

    I have that same brush. It's really stiff how long did it tack for you to break it in

      @ChromaticGarage  5 років тому +1

      Not too long! I usually let them soak in a bucket of water when I first get them, because you're right. Very stiff!

      It wasn't! Classic sunroof leak for these cars. That plus a crazy humid summer in a garage made it very very moldy haha

    Need an ozone generator when a car has that much mold in it. There is probably mold in the vents and evaporator coil. Not safe to breathe.

    • @ChromaticGarage
      @ChromaticGarage  5 років тому +1

      Ozone was used! I actually had made a separate video on it as it was a new machine but the audio files got lost. Definitely necessary for a detail like this!
