Cleaning The Moldiest Car Interior Ever! BMW E30 Interior Detailing Restoration
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 жов 2024
- We back! Today were detailing the interior of this moldy BMW E30. Quite possibly the nastiest interior I have ever cleaned and it just so happens to be my own car. I wanted to capture as many as the major steps as possible but of course not every single thing was recorded. However I think this videos sums up what it takes to tactical a moldy, nasty, car interior. From dissembling and removing the seats to safely neutralizing the mold and deep cleaning all the upholstery, this little E30 got a little but of everything. Even some repainted seat rails to try and aid a little rust issue. I had a lot of fun filing this video so if you would like more stuff like these please let me know! Regular uploads will be starting nice again! Its been a wild summer.

Awesome man! Glad you enjoyed it!
Same
@@ChromaticGarage What year is the BMW.
Same same 😉
@@robertbrolo486 the BMW E30 was made from 1983 to 1994. Usually you can tell more specific from which year if you can see the front. As there's two types. Pre- and post "face-lift" if you will. My guess is that it's from around 1991, so second generation E30. It looks just like mine on the inside. Except the steering wheel, which seems coming from the E36 if I'm not mistaken. But as said before, I don't know too much about the interior and thus the steering wheels.
moldy as it may be, the interior in that was pretty mint. Even the dash isn't cracked. Nice job!
Haha very true! The interior was actually one of the main reasons for buying this specific car. Floorboards are mint and everything is in great condition. Just need a new piece of foam for the driver seat.
Seen on 12/11/19...awesome job...looks beautiful! 😊 Would like to see the engine bay cleaned!😄
No ‘ heyy guysss welcome back to mu channel ‘ , just pure job . Well done 👏👏
nice job. makes me happy everytime i see someone taking care of their e30
Koray thank you! I agree, they need protecting haha. Gods children
Couldn't agree more! Love seeing E30's in great shape. Mine is from 1991 and 100% original. Nothing broken whatsoever. No rust either!
Fellow E30 owner here. This was very satisfying to watch, and I actually learned what I would need in the event I ever get mold in mine. I need to do mold removal on an E36 M3, so I’m taking what I learn here and applying it there.
Nice soundtrack. Quality workmanship. Bravo dude!
Glad you liked it Stephen! Thanks bro
Loved the angles you got and the car turned out awesome! One thing I’d recommend is a drill brush for sure
Stauffer Garage thanks man! I appreciate your comment. I had tried my softest white drill brush on the carpets but they were even too delicate for that. Should have took advantage of it on the seats for sure!
Also a huge shoutout to you for pioneering the current UA-cam detailing trend and literally having your thumbnail format blatantly copied everyday. Huge respect for the original my friend!
Hey stauffer garage
Dude mad respect for the amount of attention given to the tracks on the bottom of the seats...
Thanks buddy! Have a good week!
@@ChromaticGarage you too! I'll be doing so by watching more Chromatic vids 😎
Idk if you’ve looked into it before, but the Drill Brush attachments work wonders and save time/energy when agitating cleaners on carpet/upholstery. But still a killer vid man 👏🏿👌🏿 keep em comin
Haha oh man sorry for the late reply! I initially tried using a drill brush, a white soft one to be specific but it was tearing up the fibres! Would have been way easier!
Solid detail!
Two things I’d like your input on,
1) why did you just use multi-x on many of the hard panels and not a disinfectant? Does multi-x work like one?
2) using an extractor instead of steam can spread any live organisms. Have you had any issues from this method?
Once again solid results!
Good questions
Agree, gd ?s but not answered!
That looked like a hot water injection and extractor
I have a chief steamer and the extracring hose goes to vacuum and and then a diff one goes to the steamer. The injected water is HOT
You can see the water being injected and then sucked up. He didn't spray enough cleaner on it for that much liquid to come up. That hot water definitely did the job
Wow..... Now thats a Big Job~!!!! Nice to have you back!
Dan Morrissette haha little car big mess! Thanks Dan, hope you’re doing great!
Great Clean Man, finally a car detailer that doesn't market for the Lilly Brush
Haha heck yeah! I try not to market anything super hard now a days. Most products will give you similar results when just cleaning. Just gotta get to work!
Place, music, this Bmw, and last but not least your passion. Just amazing...✨🌲
Enjoyed this film thoroughly--many thanks!
Like a 318is owner I really enjoy this vid, the music, the angles, your dedication and a awesome details. I find you today and let me told that you've a new suscriptor from Spain. Many things you show us, I've been done in my E30 and can feel it that I really been there, THX a lot, greetings👍🏻😉
Had a 1987 318i, same color and wheels. Great memories, but it had a chronic misfire nobody could figure out. But that's because this was in 2002 - there was internet, but not nearly enough of it to find the answer!
Very cool! The power of the internet is pretty unbelievable, especially when it comes to figuring out these old Bavarian lads
Man….. how much you have improved on editing is mind blowing, great job
2:29 steering Wheel: stop water boarding me! Il give you their names!
The Big D’Taylor 😂😂😂 I have been waiting for this comment since I was editing the video. Some say the camera adds ten pounds. Apparently it’s 10 extra sprays for me
Adolph and Hans did it. It was Adolph and Hans! :-)
a MASTER at his Craft !! no other words to describe it !
I'd look under all those orange spots on the carpet and under lining, could be the start of some rust that you could neutralize before it gets bad. Especially near that throttle pedal
Jake2 yessir! I actually fixed a small rust spot under the pedal before this video. Unfortunately the carpet is stained. Looking for some OEM mats to hopefully cover it up! Thanks for lookin our though!
I must say, you did an incredible job on this car!
I'll be doing the same with my 2005 wrx. It's gonna be a good winter proiect. Can't wait to get started.
This is awesome. Currently dealing with a mold cleanup on my JDM Miata (leaky softtop, replacing it) and taking some pointers from this. Great work
I have recently subscribed and really enjoy the videos! Precision is always nice to see! Keep them coming.
Wesley Amick awesome! Thanks Wesley, I appreciate that!✌️
Who would thumbs down this Great job man
Great video! What could be a very stressful situation, you turned into an encouraging and inspiring project! Thank you.👍💪🏽🙏
17:49 👌👌👌👌 thats the best part
AGREED!
Great video! I have a shop in MA and I like your process. Not to sound like a Karen but the only thing that make me cringe was when you sprayed all of the electronics (radio, climate controls, etc) it’s really easy for water to get inside those units and it can actually short them out. Trust me I know, I just had a BMW four series come in and the dual climate control module got shorted out because of “detailing chemicals that were sprayed on it.” According to the dealer. I always tell my guys to always always always spray the towel and then wipe those areas around any switches or infotainment screen, radios, etc. It cost me $2100!!! Usually I would’ve insisted on allowing me to have it fixed/replaced but he’s one of my best customers. He’s been a great customer since day one 13 years ago and it was his sons brand new car and it was super cold out so I just told him to get it fixed and I would take care of it.
Long story short it’s something to think about. Keep up the great work!!
Got one going all in with engine replacement harness wiring interior etc.. just bought two VERY moldy e30 drop tops and this interior is a cake walk compared to the shit I’m about to do so getting some inspiration thanks for the vid
What a great magic work on this beautiful car I hope we see more from this car 👍👍👍👍
do some "before and after" at the end pls :) amazing job well done ^^
Great video and I like your selection of music. It matched the work you were doing. Very well done.
Very good video, well done!👍🏼 Greetings from Germany🇩🇪
He's bacccccck!
About time gheeeeeeeeez!
@@ChromaticGarage nah you've just been busy making that summertime detailing money💰💰💰
To this very UA-camr
I dont care if you hate the car
But the more you drive, you will love it
So please do not make the mistake of selling it
Love your style man! The music, the format. Fantastic!
Thanks Anthony! I appreciate it! Have an awesome week!
how can you not fall in love with an e30?
i want one so badly☹
You'll get one man! And you'll absolutely love it!
VERY COOL job ... nice I also like d way u record and edited ..
What did you do about the mold spores in the vents though?
AMAZING job, wow!! That e30 is in great condition, just really dirty tbh. The interior is sooo clean😫😬
Love you hot
@@oldsharke2840 lol thank you
Ayyyyyyy! Here we go with another great video!
Michael Middendorp haha thanks buddy! Hope all is well!
Nice Detailing and nice car :) greetings from Germany
Thank you my friend! Love Germany! Hope all is well!✌️
what product do you clean the cockpit of the vehicle with? carpro multi x or gyeon quartz tar ?
Hey buddy, I appreciate your job. You really make it but one think that I want to mention isthe rust on the pedals are the main problem for all of the e30s. Absolutely the bottom of the carpet is full of rust. I advise you to remove the carpet before starting detail for these old school cars because this problem makes serious injuries for our old cars.
Forsure man! This car was garage haha. It say in a field for a very long time. I ended up taking the interior out as it was in very good condition compared to the rest of the car
Thanks very much for your detailed video
Fantastic video! Good job 👏👏
One advice is try not to spray directly in to the speedometer. The product can go behind the Glas and make marks that is pain/hard to remove!
The detailing brush you are using, is that the Chemical Guys interior brush?
Nice color grading on the video to make it unique ! 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Iam a new sub, love this video and i appreciate that you give info, on the products you used, that help you, brought that machine back to its former glory!
Sa change maintenant elle est vraiment belle
Thank you! She's the best!
Great video I now have hope for my bmw however the mold is in the leather seats I’m wondering if I can use the same products?
Two weeks ago that was me restoring a 2007 Vauxhall Corsa that I bought for my wife who's learning to drive. The interior was absolutely disgusting. The seats were reasonable though. Spent 6 hours on it. Really enjoyed the process. I just some time now to dress it with 303 😉. Great video!
Haha that’s awesome man! Love a major turn around like that. Thanks for watching!
Wow! Great job!
Great work!!
Thanks Gerardo!
i love your channel. 🤘 please post more videos weekly.
Thank you! Starting to get back into the groove of things. New video tomorrow at 7AM EST!
Приятное зрелище и музыка. Спасибо за видео.
Thanks for watching!
I love that interior
Idk why, but when he removed the mirror on the headline, I expected to see myself 😂😂😂 but didn’t, idk why 😂
Hahaha sorry I couldn't deliver! Thanks for watching!
I’d invest in a drill brush attachment and a steam cleaner. Not a professional myself but subscribe to a lot of detailing channels.
I would have kept the mask on when cleaning the seats as the mould spores can become airbourne and you’d have breathed them in which isn’t good for you.
Super bien ! Magnifique !
J'ai regardé avec plaisir !
J'aime bien regarder votre travail !!
Vous êtes en Europe ?
Pour nettoyer comme ça, c'est cout combien ?
Thank you! I am in Canada. This would cost about $400CAD
@@ChromaticGarage Thank you, sorry that is not in France)
Dope edits bro
OTRookie thanks buddy!
Nice work.
Thank you Dale!
you did that my bro
This video makes me wanna buy an E30 just for detail it :D
Haha not a bad idea Juraj!
Amazing video!! One question, what machine are you using to dry the carpets?
the thing that not a lot of detailers understand is that when getting rid of mold you barely use any water otherwise there’s no point the mold will just come back.
Very true Robert! Unless you can ensure proper drying but most detail shops will not. Thanks for watching!
Nice little detail that
Thank you!
Great quality detail and editing!
This car is really nice. Nice job 👍
Thank you my friend! Hope all is well!
BMW has nice carpet even if old E30.
Definitely! Love the pile of vintage BMW carpets
Would love to see a full engine detail...
You got it Axel! Give me a couple of weeks!
Awesome video
Walter Gray thank you Walter!🙏
Good morning,
What is the product for mould?
Thank you very much.
Very nice job 👍
Really good job 👍
Thanks buddy!
i have an early model e30 with mold i have to try and clean. i already have a game plan for all of the carpet and vinyl areas, but my biggest concern is with my leather seats. any suggestions on how to make sure they are completely cleaned/disinfected without (further) compromising the integrity of the leather?
Job well done brother! I'm still looking for proper interior detailing. Started with polishing cars two years ago but looking to do more!
So satisfying video!Thats clean dude!I have one question where can I find one of these dryes you got?(13:55)
These chemicals and sprays won’t mess up the dash lights or anything ? Makes me nervous with the amount you spray at some parts
What a great job, how many days did you take to finish it all (just the interior)??
Thanks Saulo! This is one of my personal cars so I was just working on it when work wasn't busy. I think it took 3 days. maybe about 2 hours each day!
Hi.
Is this ordinary water vacuum cleaner? If it's not, can i use ordinary vacuum cleaner?
Thank you.
What is the best solution to clean off the mold on door and dashboard? Thanks
Hi Chromatic Auto Detailing, what is the name of those two blue devices that you use to dry the interior of the car and also the seats????
Would this work for leather seats? I have a Suburban that has been sitting for almost 3 yrs that needs the interior cleaned very badly. It has pretty bad mold from a leaking windshield.
Perfect work !
Thanks Lukasz!
Can you tell me the the names of all the songs you’re playing in this video? I love instrumentals when I work on cars. These are perfect ones
Sorry man! This is so old I dont have the names of the songs.
Anybody like the video b4 it even starts?!? Cuz I DOOOO! Def my go to channel right now. 💪🏽
Your videos look awesome!!!
What camera and audio gear are you using?
nice video and good job.
I have that same brush. It's really stiff how long did it tack for you to break it in
Not too long! I usually let them soak in a bucket of water when I first get them, because you're right. Very stiff!
What was that blue machine you used ? Was it for Drying ?
Yessir! Its called an air mover. They use them for commercial carpet cleanings a lot. Dries it so fast!
under all this dirt is a beauty 😍 (Im at beginning of the video)
Jakov 15 thanks for watching buddy!
....you are doing God's work.
was it in a flood?great job bring it back to life.very relaxing for sure.
It wasn't! Classic sunroof leak for these cars. That plus a crazy humid summer in a garage made it very very moldy haha
15:26 attention to detail holy moly, great job man! ^^
Haha thank you buddy!
I miss my 1988 Silver e30 with the houndstooth interior. Sadly had to leave her behind when i moved from San Diego to NY
This is the iconic Yuppy mobile...
How long was the drying process for your carpets and seats?
About an hour with the dryers on everything. Was a pretty hot day when doing it. Low humidity tooooo
Good work !
GOOD DOK
THANK YOU!
Need an ozone generator when a car has that much mold in it. There is probably mold in the vents and evaporator coil. Not safe to breathe.
Ozone was used! I actually had made a separate video on it as it was a new machine but the audio files got lost. Definitely necessary for a detail like this!
