That's part of the fun of falling down the RDJ rabbit hole, he's got so much material you'll never run out. He's like the Buckethead of electronic music.
There is nothing on this green and blue planet of ours that can make me feel things like Richard's genius can. Nothing... it's all accompanied by him... Going to my favorite place on earth for the first time? Needs AFX. Holding my first child for the first time in my life? Needs AFX. Everything needs a bit of AFX, all the time.
If you haven't heard this one dropped in Sandwell District's (LEGENDARY) set at Sub Club you don't know what's good. After 2 hours of pounding no-holds-barred dark techno loops and live 909 programming they slow this down to about 130 and this closer just completely destroys the place... I actually wrecked my car stereo once cause I had it so loud when 2:45 comes in! (worth every penny too might I add.)
I haven't listened to the Analord series in a while. I just rediscovered this song, and it may be one of my favorite songs by him now. He has such a large amount of tracks released, including his posts on Soundcloud. It's easy to put all the tracks he released on shuffle and have less than 48 hours of songs. He released more than 600 songs.
I think imo it's because when he does music he is more experimenting ideas and musical complex situation rather than just improvising ! the man's been doing sound synthesis since long time too.
Damn... 10 years ago already ... I remember its release date, like when does James come with something new.. And here it was that analord box, bit above my budget but slowly i bough them al.
i would have been outraged if anyone even suggested touching or modified this piece of genius.... but I heard Erol Alkan play it recently on a radio show.... all he did was change to BPM from 140.11 to 122.00.... i'm not saying its better but fuk me sideways it just sounds unreal just give it a listen... if your a skeptical old fart and think na - so am i!
+Voodoo Child meh. a taaad too slow. but everything I have of RDJ, I slow down or speed up or change the pitch CONSTANTLY because I prefer it a particular way. I noticed it this morning listening to computer controlled instruments. I was like the pitch is just too sharp to me so I slowed it down a few percent and it was right on.
it is a beautiful and deep meaning on your part. I don't know why I answer a comment from 3 years ago xD, it feels a bit sad as time passes. This track for me means many things, and that I just discovered, aphex twin, afx (the same person, but different projects) make me feel many emotions and remember times in my short life. I don't know if you're going to read it, but I hope you're doing well in your life.
@@NocturnalTorch6411 im still here, thanks for commenting. and yes my life has definitely gotten better since i wrote that thesis about this track. i still stand by it and it will forever have that daunting sound to me. i love the sound of it. i hope your life is going well also
@@WynwOodNigga Thank you, I didn't think you were going to answer, and yes, this music is beautiful, I'm going through bad times, but I have faith that everything will turn out well.
Probably the most effective dance floor track from the Analords series. Everything is great: intro introducing one of my favourite sequences ever, frantic and original drums kick in to get everybody moving, beautifully detuned pads, another synth layer to accentuate the main theme a bit, and then that very dissonant and tense build-up that breaks down into just the main theme, and when those drums come back again I always get a stupid grin on my face. But beside all that, what I just can't wrap my head around is how good the main sequence is. Just an 8 bar loop, the first 4 bars are a bit typical from what you would expect to hear from dancefloor bassline, but then it surprises with a variation with some higher notes on bar 5 and then the descending notes in the 7th bar of the loop. Just small details to make a loop more interesting, but somehow it always impresses me every time I hear it.
Ah I love this. About 18 years ago James Zabiela released 4 incredible mixes for free and there were a couple of Analord tracks on there, including this. It sounds incredible as a climax in a set and perfect for Zabiela's 'robotic' sound at the time.
These are so good but the titles are so weird so I end up forgetting them and always browse through random ones whenever I want to listen to one again.
@qwert4327able I don't know about that. I love all of the Apex releases, and his first releases as The Dice Man and Polygon Window are amazing as well. Its all just different flavors of the same artist.
