You kinda stack them down. Can place stuff on different heights based on how high you look. And after reloading the game, they rotate to that position. These seem to stay on the beds, but other items can spawn on the floor instead despite stacking them properly.
There are a bunch of mods that can be applied via the Thunderstore mod manager or whatever it is called. You can check a guide to see how the application works. Lategame Upgrades is one useful mod.

Not that I know of. Most of the cool stuff comes from the Lategame Upgrades mod that allows you to purchase such things.
