Thanks SO mich for posting this whole interview. I really personally prefer the Last Sparrow style interview where you just sit down, talk, film the whole thing in one take and post it unedited and seeing Gunnar that way is awesome. Been following him on IG for years and it's great to see snd hear him. I've always admired his tattoos and kind of wanted one, and now I actually might make some effort to do so. Hopefully he won't mind me asking for a small one , no Roman numerals lol
This hit every point and struggle I've been having - I've over come a lot to push through and keep grinding. I'm glad I listened to this. I must be doing something right if I'm listening to this while drawing up for my appointment at the shop on Christmas day at 2AM for my appointment tomorrow. 😂
I knew this guy was going to say reiki lol. I mean this with as little aggression as possible but this guy didn’t kill his ego he repackaged it in a very peak 2019 psedo enlightened meme.
noleenole sounded to me like he at the least, had a moment of clarity that helped him with his view of his self. He said he was searching for ego death but didn’t claim to fully achieve it
if we as tattooers stop thinking this thing we do is for us and comprehend we are here for the client, we wont have the stress and anxiety that most of todays tattooers suffer from. just sit in your chair and do tattoos, that thing that you were inspired by in the first place. tattooers find themselves in an unfamiliar place when their generation stops getting tattooed and they dont relate to the younger generation getting tattooed. and if we need to be appreciated for our art we should paint a picture on canvas. people were never meant to be a canvas for our work, people are looking to identify themselves, we as tattooers help them identify with self.
@@nerdalert2782 i happen to have a passion for the tattoo world its been what i am for the last 25 years im sure that my approach is going to raise eyebrows but sometimes you have to kick people in the shin to get their attention. i have delt with all these issues, stress anxiety depression and want to help young tattooers comprehend the world they have chosen to live in.
@@andrewstortz its only a problem if you make it a problem. their are plenty of tattooers doing great things that have been doing just what i explained in the post before for 50 years, 60 years. these anxieties come from something you were sold about what we do that doesnt exist. artist want to be appreciated for their work, but we arent doing work for us, its for the client, the appreciation should come from being able to help others define themselves, its much more gratifying. most tattooers really arent great artist but they are appreciated for what they do in skin because it fulfills a need in the client. if you want to be appreciated as a great artist paint a great picture.
I certainly agree with your point, but I think most people’s anxiety is born not just from the job. The stress of work can amplify that sort of thing, and that’s what we are talking about here. Talk to you next week. 🙌
