      Transit doesnt work for everyone. Many people "work on the road". Anyone will always use the medium of transportation that suits them the best at that given moment. That's how the real world works.

      @@bmw803 thats why we built transit for people who can take transit, freeing up highways for people who need to drive. all studies indicate building more highways increases traffic by encouraging car-dependency and clogging up streets.

    a better idea would be to build under the electric corridor, maybe even take the transmission lines under ground and updated with new tech.
    like a belt across Toronto. the top of the highway could be parks and re forested. easier to build because there is no structures above the electric corridor. you can also add flood control there too.

    • @pacman3556
      @pacman3556 2 роки тому +2

      they have something similar to that for long stretches in Scarborough. There is a narrow bike/ pedestrian paved pathway (about the width of a one car lane) down the side of the corridor for people to bike, walk and exercise. Then the rest of the corridor that used to be cut grass is being put back to meadow lands. There are large areas marked off "no cut zone/ meadow zone". It is still relatively new so it is still a lot of tall grasses, flowers and shrubs but you can see trees starting to fill in. Soon it will be a mix of small forest and meadow.

    We pay way more than enough in taxes that we should be building roads and highways that are free to use. Half the price of gas is taxes that is supposed to be used to build our infrastructure including highways.
    At the same time we need better transit. If you live anywhere outside the downtown core you can't travel anywhere reliably or quickly without a car. Better subways would help with relief on our highways.

      Airplane Plus Train Guy expressways built in Manila above ground that are made of concrete are possible because they last longer due to only have one type of temperature. Cold and hot throughout the year causes degregation to concrete hence why the Gardiner is in the shape it is now. In some areas, it is good to have roads built above, others underground would be more sufficient.
