I love the idea of playing a "fake" edgelord. Bro is trying his best to be dark and dangerous, but his dex isn't that high, and he's a young man so his voice occasionally cracks. He's undeniably good with a sword, but thats from being tutored at his wealthy families house and his precise form is the opposite of the street smart badass he's pretending to be.
leans on wall to brood: slips and falls

I love a reversal of an edgelord. That trope is brilliant and can be very funny. It sounds like you got personal experience with this one!

@@Blerdy_Disposition not the reverse edgelord specifically, but I make up a lot of characters. :)

Sad I listened to this thesis. Edge lords are assholes in a social setting. It works individually for Bateman or Batman.

I would not classify every brooding character automatically as edgelord. From all the characters I would only take Reaper from Overwatch and agree that he is an edgelord. In my opinion an edgelord is not just a misunderstood character, but someone who enjoys hurting others for the sake of hurting them. And most of your characters you listed don't do that. So sure, brooding characters can be interesting, edgelords are more than that and thus there is no excuse for edgelords.
