Fun fact : for the tsar bomba they only used half of the energy they were meant to use. The projected was built around a 100 megatons bomb
They scaled it back so the plane dropping it had a 50/50 chance to make it back. Also heard it could potentially contaminate our atmosphere or something
@@mast3rchief536 because it could've possibly spread fallout to Moscow if it detonated at full power.
@@mast3rchief536 If they left it as it was they wouldn't have to worry about the plane making it back because the plane would be too overloaded to even get airborne. XD
Said the Russians, because they would never lie or spread propaganda….
The truly terrorizing part is that the power of the bomb was huge in 1961 also like you said it was toned down.
And in my mind I can't stop thinking of what power we can unleash today with a modern nuke built to surpass this one...

A lot of people ask what they should do in the event of a nuclear strike. The US Civil Defence recommendation is to quickly move to about 20,000 ft above sea level, then scatter over a wide area.
As atomic ash, got it
Where would that be?
Lol hahahaha
A fate worse than death? Surviving the initial blast some how. Because nobody is coming to rescue you. The radiation after the blast will be too high. You only hope is to walk out of the danger zone because odds are any vehicles in the area won't operate due to EMP generated by the burst. And if you have injuries sustained from the blast or debris, it is even worse.
All you can do is try to walk in a single direction and hope that you reach whatever parameter the government sets up.

We're a lot less sensitive to that now than we were half a century ago.
The GZ fireball for all of those is much (much) smaller. There is a natural limit on the size of the fireball which is partly why they stopped building them bigger (weapon weight also).
The burned out areas are accurate for the intense heat effect which is created though. Anyone in those areas exposed to the weapon will burn to death. Those inside even concrete buildings will be ok though after about ten miles of the biggest bombs. It’s still hell’s picnic for the entire metro area
