- HAWTHORN half-back Changkuoth Jiath is heading to Qatar during the Christmas break to spend time at a world leading sports medicine practice in a bid to put his injury headaches behind him.
Jiath will spend five days in early January completing a block at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, before returning to resume pre-season when the Hawks report back for training in the new year.
Veteran Hawthorn head physio Andrew Lambart, who will mark 20 years at the club next season, has a long association with Aspetar and will accompany Jiath to the Middle East.
The defender will undergo a biomechanics assessment and an injury prevention program to help boost his chances of staying on the park in 2024.
Jiath completed a comprehensive off-season under the guidance of Hawks rehabilitation coordinator Jack Price and has been a major focus for high performance manager Peter Burge since he returned to the club for a second stint last pre-season.

great video, plenty of things were obviously left out, but CJ is going to be an impact player in 2024, a lot of things learned there will be applied to many other players into the future..

It would be a good idea to bring these specific exercises etc back to Hawthorn. No? If Hawthorn players can stay fit, be injury free, be consistently very good, they could win the premiership. I absolutely hate, hate the idea that 'oh let's aim for top 8 etc'. if you believe you want to be 8th or 7th you'll be that. If you believe you can win the premiership you will. Obviously one game at a time. Every premiership point matters. Everyone outside Hawthorn will write Hawthorn off. They always have. Too old too this, too that. Stay focused ignore the press. The good and the bad news. Ignore it all. Focus! Believe! We have the best young talent since 1983. Pump Iron. Go Hawks. The Mean Machine is back! CJ deserves to be injury free for now on. He'll be a Superstar if he can be injury free. What an athlete. It's been to keep giving the tackles than receiving them - Leigh Matthews. (Who hardly got injured).
