Paul Gilbert is an amazing guitar player who doesn't come across as full of himself, but a human who makes mistakes. He explains how he is not the typical flamenco player and plays this just as well. He is not ashamed to break the rules and proceeds to impress the hell out of us playing it the way only he can. Just watched him play a J.S.Bach number on a different video with his signature Ibanez guitar. Must watch. Awesome.
Agree man. In contrast to others here who only knew how to negatively criticize, Paul actually humbles himself when he played this beautiful art of solo. He didn't say "THIS IS FLAMENCO" . He says "Like Flamenco" , "I decided to name it Flamenco due to my inability to play Flamenco". He is telling us that he's trying his best. Yet, to me the solo he's done isn't really that far from spanish and or flamenco.
Of course it isn't to the standard of Paco De Lucia - Paco was a FLAMENCO GUITARST. Paul Gilbert is a ROCK GUITARIST. This isn't his craft, and it isn't artistically perfect, yet he makes it his own, giving it value. THAT is amazing.
This style is really a different instrument altogether and it doesn't matter how good you are the difference is too much when you listen to the real guys and even unbelievable guitarists like Paul Gilbert.

In a mere technical and theory level, Rock is one of the weakest genres, when you compare it to Jazz, Classical, Flamenco, or hell even Metal. Prog Rock is a different story, which is what Paul is. I don’t think there’s anything better than other. In music, I value almost all of it. I like variety, I don’t really focus much on what is better, I just try to enjoy them all for what they are

There are different languages....I'm Spanish and I play both, and Flamenco is really very difficult,but if a Flamingo guitar player try to play an electric guitar,propably can be very difficult to him too
