It does happen to mothers. I'm a mother experiencing the severe form of Parental Alienation. It's been 14 months since I had any kind of relationship with my daughter after a really good one.
He's not going overboard on the drama aspect of custody and divorce cases. I wasn't even married to my ex, but we have 2 kids together and he took me to court for no reason but vengeance. It cost both of us thousands of dollars and my sanity. I aged 20 years myself. I've never seen such hurt, drama, spitefulness, and negativity. WV is my home state, so he's right about that custody law. They do not care if it's the mother or father...it's both. I have more respect for Alec after hearing this. It's not easy for any of us. Parental alienation is VERY COMMON WHEN CO-PARENTING WITH A NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATHIC.
its not that they don't love them its that its a jealous, possessive and childish love coming from a person who is not fully functioning developmentally speaking.

They have been brainwashed. If they are cruel to you or are unusually elusive by text, phone, run,! They are now “flying Monkeys” and can be toxic to you. They will display the narcs attitude and there might be a reward in it for them. They have made a decision- they are “adults”. So just keep busy in your life until they make their own realization - if ever. This Happened to me. I plan to just go away, no announcement, and find some peace. After many kind gestures, I was treated with disrespect and given omissions of small and large plans. As though, I was no longer worthy to be in their circle and they enjoyed having secrets with my ex. Often a young spouse will be on the scene and could help or worsen the divide. So I’m going my own way......nothing can be done but anger and tears.She may never realize what she has done (Ex would love to hear you complain on this matter- don’t) and I have come to terms with that. I do have my moments - no mother/daughter were as close. I quit my career to raise her. I tell you, because I feel your frustration, but trying to win them back will unify them more. If you leave them alone, they might remember the good old days, and what is real, more quickly. IMHO. But honestly turn your attention elsewhere; may never happen if they’ve developed their own NPD. Best of luck, I truly hope I’m wrong, just sharing my experience.
This is done to mothers as well. I’m sorry for those who are enduring this with no idea of when and if reconciliation will ever happen. Anyone who does this to separate their former spouse from their children is absolutely a monster.

Of course 50/50 should be the default stance on sharing the custody of a child if both parents are responsible and present parents. What's the issue with it? In Sweden it's the law...
I do have an issue with 50/50 custody and that is solely based on whether that is best for the child. If 50/50 means the child is moving from one house to the other consistently, it can be very disruptive and unsettling. The custody arrangement should be focused on what is best for the child. It should not favour one parent over another and nor should it be divided evenly if that is not in the best interest of the child.
50/50 custody should be mandatory, period. If you allow a court to make a subjective decision about how much a parent wants to be involved in parenting, you invite corruption.
Oh my word. I judged him over that voicemail years ago and I was wrong. I had no idea. I realized just now that he might help to save my family. I’ve always loved and respected him as an actor. Now I really enjoy him and his humor. However, now he might be my newest role model and inspiration.
The ONLY reason that 50/50 custody (visitation included) should not be granted is after a COURT OF LAW adjudication of parental unfitness. Period. Anything else would equate to the state superseding it’s jurisdiction

The way I see it, he and his daughter were both victims of the mother's sick tyrannical games. His rights as a divorced father were violated continuously to the point where he lost his mind. She was manipulated into thinking that her dad is a bad man who doesn't care about her and told not to contact him. Basically the ex was trying to play them against each other. Hey everyone. I'm from England. I lost my daughters, 4 bed house, car, money and dignity due to false accusations made by my ex... I decided to leave her and BOOM! Accusations....solicitors helped, her friends helped her lies and I'm amazed ..... My daughters were 1 and 2.have been paying £530 a month for past 5 years, but now they call another man daddy. I promise I am an innocent man. Part of me is dead now, but in another way, I've been set free and very happy. I'm so thankful not for the GAL I wanted and spent 3g., Not much for my lawyer who left me when he took me right back n I didn't have her 10g paid back in 5 months, not mad that I spent my whole life savings but thankful to God for a judge who actually looked at our case.... 50/50 custody should be default position after the divorce not only for those who want, but for everybody, because it is in the child's best interest. It is not what the parents want, it is what the children need... and they need to be supported, loved and to spend time with both parents, regardless of what they both want. And, if somebody doesn't want to be in the children's life, with a possibility of neglecting it, he/she should be observed at first and than punished for his act. Nobody has a right to make children and than forget about them!

No Joy, it’s not mostly the women. Alienation happens in 50/50 custody too. It matters who is the narcissist. Who is the one with anger, bitterness, and hatred in their heart. It was the same in the marriage and it’s the same in the divorce and for the remainder of the narcissists life. They will do anything it takes to alienate their children from the other parent. No matter the cost to their own children.

The Courts seriously need to get out of the 60’s-70’s mentality, and award 50/50 parenting rights when there is absolutely no reason not to! I hate how my bipolar ex-wife can abandon our child, move across the Country for a whole year only to reappear for “summer holidays”, and Literally kidnap him! I had to get a Lawyer involved, go to Court and it cost me $25000.00 to get a miserable “shared parenting” ruling where I have to pay her $700.00 a month in child support even though she never paid me anything and I now can’t do anything that costs money with my Son..because I give it all to her! Talk about fucked-up!
I have 6 kids I haven’t seen in two years. The Guardian Ad Litem and the therapist testified to parental alienation to no avail. By the time the courts see the problem it’s too late. The worst part is the relationships with the children can be fixed by something as simple as the alienating parent saying to kids that loving the other parent is okay. They just won’t. Pathogenic parenting is the accepted phrase now I believe.

Yes Mother suffer from it too to keep your children from the other parent is abuse no matter how you cut it shape it or form it is abuse. Anytime a child is used to get back at the other parent because of what a parent feels about the other one is simply distasteful. Children need both of their parents to live to understand love and to have strong bonding relationships it is not the other parent's job to take a child out of its mother or Father's life it is a sad sad case for all parties especially the children
ALEC your right! My kids where told that I was almost dead, that I left them because I was a junky. It was crazy. Expert was paid off, Judges paid off, etc.... it was so bad that once I put everything together with documented proof, it’s been very hard for me to believe that people would go to such extend for no other reason but power. My now adult children will not talk to me because they are too scared of me. My ex husband & his new wife & his entire family maliciously conspired & planned out destroying me mentally. I personally feel it’s the Judges responsibility & when someone breaks the law they should do something but they don’t. They completely discriminated, stereotyped me to the point that I feel victimized & my civil rights taken away all because of perjury & false testimony from 1 man who lost his license 2 months later & the courts did nothing. They have ruined my life & many others. PAS is abuse & needs to be recognized as such. It added PTSD to my list of health conditions. I am living everyday with a living death of my children. Every single day... that’s very overwhelming to me & scary. I don’t want to die! But look at my future of pain! The problem I had concerning 50/50 is that my ex refused to even consider 50/50. He was not willing to share anything with me. Most people with personality disorders like this are not going to agree on 50/50 I’m afraid. The only way would be some type kind of guideline the courts ruled by. I’m not a doctor okay. But I’ve been researching this since 1995 after a chat with Dr. Richard Gardener. I was very fortunate to met Dr. Gardener. He was the only person that could relate to what I was talking about & was a brilliant person. Thank you for speaking out Alec & making people aware! Was going through the same PAS nightmare for 7 years, actually in the same courtroom with Mr. Baldwin on several occasions. A highly volatile, dangerous situation that the court ending up orchestrating is actually the basis for an upcoming film called What Tigers Do. Absolutely brutal.

There are parents (Father/Mother/Child) . The family unit does not include lawyers social workers mental health professions etc. who view the human family as a source of income instead of wearing steel toes
Jam not a fan of Alec Baldwin because I am a Trump fan but Alec is right about parental alienation and made great points here. And for his voice mail comments to his daughter that the mother used against him to me is a sign that he is telling the truth. He was really wrong to act that way and not the way to deal with the invevitable frustration you get over your child's disrespect and most of all the mothers manipulation and brainwashing. That was his biggest mistake and his ex wife capitalized on it to prove to her daughter that her father is a terrific blue guy. Alec has terrible politics and a temper but his daughter should no way be alienated from him and his side of the family that should be part of her life too

I think the important thing here is that 50/50 custody is a good start point. If it kicks off from this standpoint in a confrontational situation it gives the judge somewhere to start.
Beverly Hanson, 50/50 rarely works out *IF* one of the parents a) can't control themselves like Baldwin couldn't and b) if the other parent constantly bad mouths the other parent then, that parent proves that he/she is exactly what the bad mouthing was about like Baldwin did. Younger children cannot make up their own minds. Imagine being a child and having to live with a foul mouthed parent like Baldwin.
Parental alienation is child abuse. Both the child and and alienated/ targeted parent suffer great consequences including severe depression. My son is now 27 and I am and have always been his loving and kind mom. His step dad brainwashed him and he has cut out my entire family based on lies. I was advised to let him go especially because he has done so many hurtful things to me but I have learned recently as I learned about parental alienation that I need to never give up hope. I think my Ex and his clan are pure evil. I can not believe how much hurt and damage this man has caused my children and myself. Shame on all these evil people who are hurting their own children the most. The court’s absolutely need to be more educated. This is nothing that’s going to get fixed in our lifetime. I’m a mother who’s father has alienated my son from me to make my life a living hell as he said. He did and does I have practically no relationship with my child and pay child support. The cops won’t do a think the law does nothing. I’m not an unfit parent I love my child and care for him never harmed my child the only thing that happened was that I had no one to help me care for my child while I worked and went to school therefore the court took my child and gave him to his mentally sexually abusive father and deemed me an unfit parent. Instead of helping me take care of my child they took him away and mentally murdered me out of my child’s life.

It does happen its invisible brainwash of the kids against the non custodial parent. The dad can pay child support but yet is kept from a developing relationship mentally with the child. when one parent vents there bad thoughts about the one who is non custodial yeh the child is long term effected into adulthood in that they never call that parent up or visit. I married man who loved his kids but the mom sort of did that parental alianation on him now there dad is sort of ill but none of those kids come to visit him. Esp older one. He sort sad about it but also yeh as stepmom i am also get some of that alienation.

Only today I have decided to let go. This is not cutting myself off but a realisation and acceptance that it takes two to co-parent. I cannot control another persons mindset. Parental alienation should be a crime. I’ve not given up but taken a step back. I am always here for my daughter if she wants to reach out and have expressed this on many occasions. I’ve fought for 14 years and gone above and beyond what’s in my power to try and be a father. And yes, I pay maintenance. I am a cash machine and nothing more. I sought a DNA test to prove she was mine (after mother denied that I was the father), circa 50 court appearances over 7 years, 32 contact orders - all worth shit. Non-compliance is the order of the day because these evil people know they can get away with it and this is a very profitable industry. As a parent and an adult child of alienation and an alienated parent currently with whom my alienating mother is aiding my ec husband 100% The simplest form of this is ; at birth you have rights to your children. To spend time with, teach, take care of ect. There are certain processes that should take a effect in one having their rights removed ... Period. Don't want it to be hard on your children? Sit down with your ex and work it out and be an example that they will have in the event they grow up and need one. Move closer to each other. Get along. Forgive one another, focus on your child and pay attention to make sure they know they don't have to choose. Move closer accept what is whatever it takes to make their lives more simple. It's not about you or your ex spouse ... While my ex husband feels he has won by gaining control over our child ... Our child has indeed been the one to lose. He already is. This offense should be criminal. It should be punishable by law but instead it isn't enforced in the least. It's a shame how horribly corrupt our justice system is. I am getting prepared to try to make it law that it is considered a criminal offense with mandatory jail time.

One problem is the alienator creates situations to elicit behaviour in the living parent which outsiders fail to understand. So if they testify against the loving parent and for the alienator, the loving parent is fucked

I have one brother who communicates with but no longer sees 3 out of his 4 children because of this very thing. One daughter has come to live with him only because the mother kicked her out of the house. Another brother has been tempted to give up custody of his two sons because the mother makes life so difficult for him. Kudos to Alec for bringing public attention to this issue.

PAM Helper 50/50 custody doesn't always mean the child move back and forth. It MEANS the other parent is equally involved in the parenting , decision making and support and should spend as much time with the child(ren) as the "custodial/prime residence" parent. It also means that both parents are mature and responsible working together despite the separation/divorce issues and not allow the child(ren) to take advantage of the situation and manipulate both parents lol. But then again, if this works then the family law lawyers and judges don't get paid in such cases...
+Palmina D'Alessandro Schools don't treat non-custodial parent as a parent. I have heard so many times: "Oh, we gave that to the parent ( Not me)." or..." I don't have to speak with you.... I talked with the parent" or..." We're not set up for that.... You can get that from the parent".... duh, if we got along we wouldn't have gotten a divorce... I can not count on receiving any thing from the other parent... and I shouldn't have to..... The system loves to tout: "In the best interest of the child" but that is clearly not the case. .....

Of course 50/50 should be the default stance on sharing the custody of a child if both parents are responsible and present parents. What's the issue with it? In Sweden it's the law...
I do have an issue with 50/50 custody and that is solely based on whether that is best for the child. If 50/50 means the child is moving from one house to the other consistently, it can be very disruptive and unsettling. The custody arrangement should be focused on what is best for the child. It should not favour one parent over another and nor should it be divided evenly if that is not in the best interest of the child.

I'm an alienated mom who was fausly arrested twice to never see my kids again in 19 years since July 18th and 27th, my birthday in 2005. My ex soldier husband used our teenagers to lie to the police to never see them again since. The way I see it, he and his daughter were both victims of the mother's sick tyrannical games. His rights as a divorced father were violated continuously to the point where he lost his mind. Hey everyone. I'm from England. I lost my daughters, 4 bed house, car, money and dignity due to false accusations made by my ex... I decided to leave her and BOOM! Accusations....solicitors helped, her friends helped her lies and I'm amazed ..... My daughters were 1 and 2.have been paying £530 a month for past 5 years, but now they call another man daddy. I promise I am an innocent man. Part of me is dead now, but in another way, I've been set free and very happy. I just hope they don't replicate their mothers behaviour as they will go through broken relationships and will be broken inside. GOd I pray they will see through it and not become it.
Shared custody ruined my life exactly like he said doing it to reduce my input and me essentially.. I'm so thankful not for the GAL I wanted and spent 3g., Not much for my lawyer who left me when he took me right back n I didn't have her 10g paid back in 5 months, not mad that I spent my whole life savings but thankful to God for a judge who actually looked at our case.... 50/50 custody should be default position after the divorce not only for those who want, but for everybody, because it is in the child's best interest. It is not what the parents want, it is what the children need... and they need to be supported, loved and to spend time with both parents, regardless of what they both want. And, if somebody doesn't want to be in the children's life, with a possibility of neglecting it, he/she should be observed at first and than punished for his act. Nobody has a right to make children and than forget about them!

I had to get a Lawyer involved, go to Court and it cost me $25000.00 to get a miserable “shared parenting” ruling where I have to pay her $700.00 a month in child support even though she never paid me anything and I now can’t do anything that costs money with my Son..because I give it all to her!

I have 6 kids I haven’t seen in two years. The Guardian Ad Litem and the therapist testified to parental alienation to no avail. By the time the courts see the problem it’s too late. The worst part is the relationships with the children can be fixed by something as simple as the alienating parent saying to kids that loving the other parent is okay. They just won’t. Pathogenic parenting is the accepted phrase now I believe.

Anytime a child is used to get back at the other parent because of what a parent feels about the other one is simply distasteful. ALEC your right! My kids where told that I was almost dead, that I left them because I was a junky. It was crazy. Expert was paid off, Judges paid off, etc.... it was so bad that once I put everything together with documented proof, it’s been very hard for me to believe that people would go to such extend for no other reason but power.
My now adult children will not talk to me because they are too scared of me. My ex husband & his new wife & his entire family maliciously conspired & planned out destroying me mentally. I personally feel it’s the Judges responsibility & when someone breaks the law they should do something but they don’t. They completely discriminated, stereotyped me to the point that I feel victimized & my civil rights taken away all because of perjury & false testimony from 1 man who lost his license 2 months later & the courts did nothing. They have ruined my life & many others. PAS is abuse & needs to be recognized as such. It added PTSD to my list of health conditions. I am living everyday with a living death of my children. Every single day... that’s very overwhelming to me & scary. I don’t want to die! But look at my future of pain!
The problem I had concerning 50/50 is that my ex refused to even consider 50/50. He was not willing to share anything with me. Most people with personality disorders like this are not going to agree on 50/50 I’m afraid. The only way would be some type kind of guideline the courts ruled by. I’m not a doctor okay. But I’ve been researching this since 1995 after a chat with Dr. Richard Gardener. I was very fortunate to met Dr. Gardener. He was the only person that could relate to what I was talking about & was a brilliant person.

Jam not a fan of Alec Baldwin because I am a Trump fan but Alec is right about parental alienation and made great points here. And for his voice mail comments to his daughter that the mother used against him to me is a sign that he is telling the truth. He was really wrong to act that way and not the way to deal with the invevitable frustration you get over your child's disrespect and most of all the mothers manipulation and brainwashing. That was his biggest mistake and his ex wife capitalized on it to prove to her daughter that her father is a terrific blue guy. Alec has terrible politics and a temper but his daughter should no way be alienated from him and his side of the family that should be part of her life too

I think the important thing here is that 50/50 custody is a good start point. If it kicks off from this standpoint in a confrontational situation it gives the judge somewhere to start.
Beverly Hanson, 50/50 rarely works out *IF* one of the parents a) can't control themselves like Baldwin couldn't and b) if the other parent constantly bad mouths the other parent then, that parent proves that he/she is exactly what the bad mouthing was about like Baldwin did. Parental alienation is child abuse. Both the child and and alienated/ targeted parent suffer great consequences including severe depression. My son is now 27 and I am and have always been his loving and kind mom. His step dad brainwashed him and he has cut out my entire family based on lies. I was advised to let him go especially because he has done so many hurtful things to me but I have learned recently as I learned about parental alienation that I need to never give up hope. I think my Ex and his clan are pure evil. I can not believe how much hurt and damage this man has caused my children and myself. Shame on all these evil people who are hurting their own children the most. The court’s absolutely need to be more educated. I can not believe the depth of the manipulation with my son and that he does not recognize it. I send my 🙏 to all the parents and children (both young and grown).
This is nothing that’s going to get fixed in our lifetime. I’m a mother who’s father has alienated my son from me to make my life a living hell as he said. He did and does I have practically no relationship with my child and pay child support. The cops won’t do a think the law does nothing. I’m not an unfit parent I love my child and care for him never harmed my child the only thing that happened was that I had no one to help me care for my child while I worked and went to school therefore the court took my child and gave him to his mentally sexually abusive father and deemed me an unfit parent. Instead of helping me take care of my child they took him away and mentally murdered me out of my child’s life.

The dad can pay child support but yet is kept from a developing relationship mentally with the child. when one parent vents there bad thoughts about the one who is non custodial yeh the child is long term effected into adulthood in that they never call that parent up or visit. I married man who loved his kids but the mom sort of did that parental alianation on him now there dad is sort of ill but none of those kids come to visit him. Esp older one. He sort sad about it but also yeh as stepmom i am also get some of that alienation.

Only today I have decided to let go. This is not cutting myself off but a realisation and acceptance that it takes two to co-parent. I cannot control another persons mindset. Parental alienation should be a crime. I’ve not given up but taken a step back. I am always here for my daughter if she wants to reach out and have expressed this on many occasions. I’ve fought for 14 years and gone above and beyond what’s in my power to try and be a father. And yes, I pay maintenance. I am a cash machine and nothing more. I sought a DNA test to prove she was mine (after mother denied that I was the father), circa 50 court appearances over 7 years, 32 contact orders - all worth shit. Non-compliance is the order of the day because these evil people know they can get away with it and this is a very profitable industry. I’m not saying I agree with Alec Baldwin, I didn’t even watch the full video, but as he’s a celebrity there is more exposure

As a parent and an adult child of alienation and an alienated parent currently with whom my alienating mother is aiding my ec husband 100% The simplest form of this is ; at birth you have rights to your children. To spend time with, teach, take care of ect. There are certain processes that should take a effect in one having their rights removed ... Period. Don't want it to be hard on your children? Sit down with your ex and work it out and be an example that they will have in the event they grow up and need one. Move closer to each other. Get along. Forgive one another, focus on your child and pay attention to make sure they know they don't have to choose. Move closer accept what is whatever it takes to make their lives more simple. It's not about you or your ex spouse ... While my ex husband feels he has won by gaining control over our child ... Our child has indeed been the one to lose. He already is. This offense should be criminal. It should be punishable by law but instead it isn't enforced in the least. It's a shame how horribly corrupt our justice system is. I am getting prepared to try to make it law that it is considered a criminal offense with mandatory jail time.

I have one brother who communicates with but no longer sees 3 out of his 4 children because of this very thing. One daughter has come to live with him only because the mother kicked her out of the house. Another brother has been tempted to give up custody of his two sons because the mother makes life so difficult for him. Kudos to Alec for bringing public attention to this issue.

PAM Helper 50/50 custody doesn't always mean the child move back and forth. It MEANS the other parent is equally involved in the parenting , decision making and support and should spend as much time with the child(ren) as the "custodial/prime residence" parent. It also means that both parents are mature and responsible working together despite the separation/divorce issues and not allow the child(ren) to take advantage of the situation and manipulate both parents lol. But then again, if this works then the family law lawyers and judges don't get paid in such cases...
