- It's time for a Closet Clean Out! I'm going to Declutter & refresh the Organization in my Closet to have a fresh start for 2024! My Master Bedroom Closet is a very Small Closet, so Decluttering & Organizing has become a routine chore in this space. Today I'm going to show you How To Declutter your Closet, and share some Tips on How To Find Your Motivation if you're struggling with Overwhelming Tasks. I hope this helps anyone who may be feeling like a Hoarder (like me) to go from Messy to Minimal!

I decluttered a full garbage bag of clothes today. I'm working on a second one. I only did part of my clothing today. I hope to have at least four bags by the time I'm done. It's time I get real with myself and put aside the things that no longer look good on my postpartum body and that's absolutely ok.

I am pretty good at organizing and decluttering. The one exception is clothes. I LOVED how you processed out loud the anxiety/fear around letting items go thinking you won’t have enough. That was super helpful. Also the making a list was a great idea. Glad I stumbled on your video.
I know that kind of anxiety is not an individual experience, so I thought it might be encouraging to others if I talked through it. 😊

I have de-cluttered my closet, bathroom and kitchen cabinets so far. It feels so nice to get all the "stuff" we don't use out of the house!! Have a great weekend Megan!!!
I’m doing my kitchen & my pantry this week!
It's very easy to get overwhelmed.....but once done, such a great feeling....we just did our walk-in closet yesterday, hubby built plastic shoe boxes that stack we got from Costco, baseboards dusted, everything organized equals happy.
It is always such a relief after tackling a project like this!
I'm like you. I pull every single thing out then declutter and organize it all back in! Its the only way I feel I can make it work! 😀❤

This is a good suggestion about books. If you've already read the books, donate them. You can look online or go to your Kindle and read the books online. books take up a lot of space in your closet. You say you needed to go get some more baskets that look alike... DON'T. Work with what you have because the more baskets you are the more junk you tend to keep. Last year, I decluttered 88 items out of our huge walkin closet and a LOT of items in all areas of our house. I made $122.00 at our yard sale and the rest went straight to Goodwill.
I don’t have a kindle. It’s okay to keep things that you enjoy & use. 😊
Beginning they are calling for rain all weekend, this is my husband and I weekend plan. Completely declutter and rearrange everything in our closet. His side is completely out of control and he has taken over my side,plus an extra clothes rack. He is EVERYWHERE in there!!!

It's so nice to hear about times that the wins don't come so easily, too!! It's so easy to think "I'll organize when I have as much motivation as they have" in whatever video you're watching, and then never feel that motivation come around. This is a great tip.
I struggle a lot with not having natural motivation because of my depression, so I have to find ways to create my own. ❤️ things aren’t always as they seem online. Not everyone is/can be go-go-go all of the time, and that’s totally fine. 😊
Love it, you gave me motivation to tackle my closet. Decluttering comes easy with the exception of my clothes in my closet. I really appreciate you being real and admitting you need to step back and take a moment. ❤

Sadly my partner won't declutter any of his clothing or stuff. We have a shared wardrobe as we're in a very small house with our little one. I won't let any of our stuff go into her room bless her. That gift stockpile has saved us for many birthday parties lol. It also makes gifting holidays much more affordable because I truly find the best deals, instead of buying on sale holidays that aren’t necessarily the lowest prices. 😊

So when I get diapers from Costco, I always save the box and put it in my 2byear old closet (has more space) and as I am always decluttering or getting rid of the clothes my boys grow out of, I put it in the box and when it's full, I take it to our local outreach center. I have gotten rid of so much crap and I'm still not done. You are doing awesome! I know how overwhelming it can be, but your mind and stress will be so much better ❤

I purchased wood hangers “Amazon, not expensive “ and it made my closet look so nice!!! Major difference for a small amount of money.

I feel that same way! It can be so hard to find clothing that feels flattering & comfortable, so I tend to wear those pieces out when I do have them.

Me too! I usually do my whole house in the new year/spring time, and sort through clothes & toys before the holidays.
Yes! Without realising that it was a 'thing', I too have been filling any box that comes into my home with items I have decluttered (I'm in my late 50s). It is such an empowering thing to do! And, like you, I have the same skirts, dresses and shirts that I just keep placing back into my wardrobe (even though I haven't worn them for years, they don't fit right or suit me). I just don't know why I do that 😔

I keep saying to myself I need to get my closet done and I been processing but it’s for a good reason bc I haven’t been feeling well and next week I find out if I need surgery and if I do I light need to be off from work and everything for 2 weeks I’m getting nervous but I need it done. Thank you for your motivation and posting it keeps me sane. I have a sack on the floor of my closet, and when i put on an item on if i dont like it, i put in the sack. Also, when i buy something new, something has to leave have a blessed weekend pretty lady ❤

I live in a small home. And we have a walk in closet in our bedroom. But it’s a disaster. I love the bins you have on the bottom. I need those. I have shoe racks and i can’t even see them. I share the back rod of the closet with my husband. But it’s the long bar that has my clothes on it that is a mess. I just want some kind of storage system. And I told my husband that and he said no. But the next time we’re out and at a store with some kind of closet system I’m looking. I want to get an idea of what we could do with it. I have three granddaughters that can wear my clothes. One who asks every time she comes over if she can look in my closet. She came today and had on the sweater I gave her the last time she was here. Nothing I buy and don’t keep goes to waste. Something’s they took were things I would have kept. But I told them to look in the tote. And it was full of shirts and sweaters. I let them take what they wanted. I have way too much ch stuff anyway. I have a large mirror my husband bought laying in my closet. It’s so heavy I’m afraid to hang it up. So I may see if my granddaughter wants it. She’ll have to take it back to her house. And she lives in a different state. And they have a baby. So, she always brings a lot when she comes. So I don’t know if she will have room. It may have to go to Goodwill. And I will probably go through my dresses that are in the guest closet and get rid of most of them. I don’t wear them so I might as well let someone else wear them.
Those organizers on the bottom of my closet have been a total game changer! I got them about a year ago…worth every single penny! We have so much more storage now, and I am able to sort through & reorganize my closet so much faster now. They are worth every single penny! The last time I decluttering my closets, I had many empty hangers, and I kept maybe six or eight and donated the rest of the hangers, so I would not be tempted to bring that many more clothing pieces into my wardrobe closet.
