My mother's family is from Vinchiaturo. Thanks for this video. Never been, but hope to someday. There is a statue in the town of a man with a suitcase to represent those who left for Staten Island, NY, and it always reminds me of my grandfather, who did just that and helped others to come to America.
You should come visit. It's only 2 1/2 hours from Rome. It's really a lovely town. If you know where they lived and want me to take a picture or video for you, let me know.
My grandparents are from Vinchiaturo - part of the legion that left for Staten Island, NY and Toronto. I visited 14 years ago and have been itching to go back ever since. I’ve heard so much about the feast - hope to make it there for one soon! Just hearing the dialect as you passed by the homes - so comforting- just as my family spoke. ❤
Oh wow! My husband's family also went to Staten Island and Montreal. There is the statue in town for all the people that left and went to America and Canada. The feast is my favorite event in town. Seeing everyone just hanging out, reminds me of block parties in New York. I'm having a hard time with learning Italian because my husband learned dialect and I get confused with some words. Also all the young Italians speak the younger cooler version of proper Italian and speak really fast. If you know where you Grandparents lived and want me to go take a photo or a video for you. Let me know.
Our home is in Arpino, a little under two hours from you, though it is still a holiday home, not full time yet. We haven't made it to Molise yet, so this was a lovely introduction!
Buon Giorno!! Bob and Tammy Altavilla again! We just saw this video. You walked right by my Great Great Nonna's house - 2 story with no roof and just the side steps....can't believe we have this to share with our family members now! Her address is 46 via Borgo and its right down from where you live. We met your neighbors on the corner - that have all the olive trees in their yard. They were harvesting the olives and brought us over to your house because you spoke English they said. We knocked but no one was home. So wish we would have met you two! Until next time!!
Oh, I am so sorry we missed you. It would have been great to meet up and show you the town. Is it the house with our the roof directly across from the one with the water fountain or is it the one pass that house? I also have drone shots of the street and neighborhood. If you want I can send you some of them so you can see it from above. email me at ouritalianadventures1@gmail.com. Let us know next time you come and we can meet up. Thanks for watching our channel. More to come.
Hi Bob and Tammy, Another viewer sent me a photo of sketch of our street and I am pretty sure it shows your Great Great Nonna's house in the sketch before it became a ruin. I am happy to share the photo with you, email me at ouritalianadventures1@gmail.com
@@ouritalianadventures6190 my mom has a cousin that lives in the apartments in the piazza. Our trip there was great and we had a local paesano take us around. It was great for my kids to see where their nonna grew up. Toronto “vinchiaturese” here! 🇨🇦❤️🇮🇹 I’ve been to Vinchiaturo 3x in my life, will return again soon.
