  • When Dan Gable, in 1970, stepped onto the mat for his third NCAA title and a combined high school and collegiate record of 181-0, there was only one person in the arena at Northwestern University that thought he could win. That man was Gable’s opponent, Larry Owings.
Mr. Perri who is a very young 97 gives a brief accounting of this match and his future contact decades later with Larry Owings. His sharp recall of a variety of points is very impressive!
It was an unbelievable honor to catch up with him at Bucknell University on March 9th, 2024 and hear his take on the match that had him ground zero when this upset occurred!
Listen to Mr. Perri as he discusses this amazing story and please SUBSCRIBE to Playing it Forward Coaching on UA-cam.
    Thank you!
