A great tutorial on how to properly slice a tomato for a burger or sandwich. Thanks for watching!

Slicing a tomato through the "equator" , east to west...is best for sandwiches and salad slices. Slicing a tomato North-to-South is better for cooking/stewing....more pulp, less seeds...at least that's my way. Thanks, again for a great tutorial!!

Chef John just downloaded you're book with the help of my better half as I m very old school. In short, congratulations are in order. The recipe selections are varied, well presented, and concisely written. Most important your recipes are doable for the novice like myself as well as for the more experienced foodie. . Honestly, in my opinion it's a great companion book to your show and it's a little gem among a sea of cook books out there. I hope you continue doing more extended speciality versions such as omelettes 101, or dinner in a pinch , (suggestions). Now my biggest wish is that one day you take the leap and have a hard copy compendium. So to all your fans may I give a shout out so that they download you're book as a show of support and appreciation for your excellent show and all the hard work that goes into producing it. Thanks Chef John for giving me the confidence to cook through your show. As for me I'm going to try your sour cream and Bacon dip. Cheers

Thanks Suede, I appreciate that very, very much! I am working on my second one as we speak and it will be Breakfast from the Orange Room....Now a small favor for me.. If you could write a review on Amazon for the book, that helps sales along and also gets the book pushed up in the rankings...might need the better half to help you on this as well, as I have no idea how to do it...Thanks again for all your support nd ides..I appreciate your being a friend of the show

No problem chef I will gladly write you a review as soon as possible. I don't have a Amazon account as that's my better half domain but I assure you it will be done. It's the least I can do for you considering you produce such a excellent show. Cheers.

Chef as promised the review is written. According to my wife it's takes a few hours to approve. May Laura and I wish your book the greatest success. Cheers and have a good weekend.

Thanks, John, I've never thought about it all, I probably just cut it so many different ways, but after watching your tutorial, I can relate how sometimes, the tomato is a little hard. Now it makes sense. Thanks for the explanation and how to cut it properly.

I think I'm mildly allergic to tomatoes. After cutting my tomatoes I made a BLT sandwich that I ate and my throat has the same lump in my throat feeling that I get after eating raw carrots. I'm 90% certain it's because I have pollen-food allergy syndrome since I also have hay-fever.
Is there a substitute I can use for a tomato or a way to cook it like with carrots so that it doesn't trigger a reaction? Would I just boil them beforehand?

I would talk to a doctor or allergist, maybe even a dietitian about these issues. I don't want to lead you down the wrong path

Thank you chef for a great video. Now if your preparing a basic salad is their a specific technique for cutting the tomatoes , or do we just go with cherry tomatoes . Also Chef any chance of doing your version of black beans and rice and suggesting which of your spice line would be a good complement. There appears to be many versions be it Cajun, Cuban ect. I would be really interested. Cheers and always enjoy your show.

Thanks for watching Suede. The beans and rice is a tough one because everyone and their brother has a version of it, I will put it on my list though...thanks for the idea

Whenever I cut tomatoes they come out all shapes and sizes, all wonky lookin, with the soggy parts. It HAS to be a mystery in how they get those PERFECT, CLEAN sliced tomatoes. It just aint fair.
You know..I loooovve deli sandwiches...and also I LOVE how theyre assembled. So absolutely perfect lol. I dream of perfecting a sandwich like that. Cutting a tomato is whats stopping me! What a rut!

Is it me? or.. I actually don't like to eat the middle thing inside the tomato I usually just cut a slice and then get rid of the thing in the middle and keep the red sides.
