Respected sir, being undisputedly the greatest grammarian of this generation across the globe, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to let me know which of the following answers is grammatically correct -Question -The sum was very easy.Everyone could solve it.(Join the sentences using 'too'). Answers -(A) The sum was too easy to solve (B) The sum was too easy not to solve (C) The sum was too easy for everyone not to solve (D) The sum was too easy for everyone to solve.Sir, do please let me know which of the above options, according to you, would be the most appropriate one both from the grammatical as well as semantic point of view.
Good video. What about pretty? How do we use pretty? I see many native speakers saying this word in different ways, but I can't understand well when they use it. Thanks
Great suggestion for a video! "Pretty" can be a bit vague. That is why you should avoid it in formal speech or in writing, where you want to be more exact. In informal speech, "pretty good" can mean "very good" or "fairly/moderately good." You understand it from the context.
In English the 2nd. Language we have learned in school about the " intensity of verbs" very ,too, & so" Example: too it is use to express 50% only in the sentence formation. The verb " too" it use to express as also in the sentence formation. Very it is use either verb or adverb in the sentence formation & its percentage is 75% . So it is use to express in the sentence formation the highest one like 100% . Example: And I love you so...
Sorry I didn't see this reply before. Only recently has UA-cam made it possible for creators to see replies to replies. Anyhow, I never heard the rules you mentioned or perhaps I misunderstand your explanation. "I love you so" is an expression used in a very specific context. You could also say, "I love you so much" (which some might consider ungrammatical) or "I love you very much." There are "rules" about, for example, "will," "may," and "might," where "will" expresses certainty and "may" and "might" less and less certainty. Even then, speakers do not think of these modal verbs in terms of percentages. Thanks for supporting the channel and for taking the time to leave a very interesting comment. :D
Correct usaage of each " Intensity of Verbs aer not explain very well. Too it is a verb but I don't know the exact correct usage. Very it is either a verb or adverb in the sentence formation again in your explanation is I don't know the correct usage. So another intensity of verb but I don't know exactly the correct usage in the sentence formation. Therefore, in your next lesson presentation is you must explain it to us each intensity of verb correct usage with a percentage fraction such as 25% 75%, or 100% .
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. As far as I know, "very" is never a verb. You can only use it to modify an adjective. A video on fractions and percentages is a good idea. Thanks!
Thank you very much! I learned so much in a short period. You are too generous to share your knowledge. ^.^
thank YOU! :)
