The turrets are what prompted me to sell my Strike Eagle 5-25x56 shortly after purchasing it. Not only were they "squishy" feeling, but the hashmarks on my elevation turret were out of alignment at about 1 mrad and progressively got more out of alignment the further away I got from my zero. I found myself counting every tenth of a mil click to be certain I was dialing the correct elevation. It might not be a big deal for general plinking but in the competition setting it was a total deal-breaker. But you get what you pay for.
Tracking has been perfect on the 3 samples of the strike eagle that I tested. Not only did a box test but also measured and checked the values of the reticle markings and the clicks of the turrets. It was spot on! I must say I totally agree with his conclusions and I definitely find that the strike eagle is a much better value than the pst gen 2. Optical quality on the Strike Eagle is really not far from the pst (you really need to pay attention to details in certain situations to spot any difference). Whereas the difference between the strike eagle and the diamondback is just obvious, a totally different league! Nie little scope for a very reasonable budget. The market is definitely changing and bringing us some very good glass for less money than ever. I'd suggest you also give a look to the new Delta Optical Javelin! Made in Japan, excellent glass and tracking, 4.5-30 magnification for less than 1000$! Already loved the big sister (Delta Stryker) but this little baby is definitely not far behind for an incredible price! We're lucky!!!!

I was looking at comparisons on these 2 today. The strike eagle does not have these additional coatings & protection because it is more designed for long-distance target shooting than hunting.

So I've almost convinced myself to get the PST Gen II FFP riflescope, but something about the Strike Eagle is slowing me down from fully committing. I like the locking turrets on the Strike Eagle, but I believe once you install the RevStop Zero ring on the Strike Eagle, you are actually limited to fewer MOA of adjustment on the elevation turret than you would have with the PST Gen II. The wider field of view in the Strike Eagle is also enticing. I've been considering the PST Gen II for a considerably long time and have saved up the money for the PST Gen II. So I don't want to just talk myself into the Strike Eagle because it is cheaper. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. With the locking turrets and the wider field of view, why does the PST Gen II still remain considerably more expensive than the Strike Eagle, especially considering the Strike Eagle comes with a throw lever. Once again, thank you.
I’ve spent a good bit of time looking through both of these scopes, my conclusion is the same. The Strike Eagle is fantastic value. I think the only thing the PST Gen II has over the Strike Eagle is the glass. However unless you have them right next to each other you probably won’t be able to tell the difference. For the price point these scopes reside in and the purpose most people will use these scopes for, slight difference in glass will not be that impactful. I’ve got a feeling a PST Gen III is coming soon, and considering how advanced the Strike Eagle is, a Gen III PST will blow both these scopes out of the water. But that’s just a gut feeling.
If the strike eagle had an option for a 3-15 like the PST I'd pick that up instead of the PST. Prefer a scope I can take hunting and then go to the range to do some long distance shooting with. In my state a 5-25 is very much overkill considering most people I've met use a lower power scope or even a red dot. Some here even us an LVPO to confirm points on a deer before turning it back down to take a shot.

What blows my mind is why doesn't vortex put these same features in the higher level Viper? ..And make it 34mm, and make it 3-18, keep the objective 50mm or possibly 44mm, and find a way to make it lighter like around 21-24 ounces. Then you would have the perfect DMR scope. But nooooo... let's put all these features into the chinese made Strike Eagle.
Hello from America ! I really need some help, I was looking for a FN SPR and found one, 20 actually, now these rifles are discontinued and have been for a number of years. I had been looking for what seemed like forever for a brand new one......and GOT IT ! It arrived at my gun store and I knew that (after much research ) that I wanted to put the Vortex 5 x 25 x 56 Strike Eagle on it. The gun store owner tried to talk me into a Nightforce but I stood my ground. I bought the Vortex with matching PMR rings. My question is what are the limitations of that scope that you have found. The store owner stated that the Vortex is only good out to about 600 yards and from there things get sketchy. I would love to take my SPR out past 1000 yards but now I don’t know it it will do it. Any information will be greatly appreciated. I feel that direct knowledge from a professional shooter that actually uses his equipment is of more value that someone who just sells stuff.
If anyone is considering one of these two scopes the viper pst is currently on sale at Midway for only $700. I looked at a strike eagle which seemed nice but decided to get the viper due to the huge discount and I’ve heard the glass is a little better than the strike eagle
Hows the glass quality compared the two? My buddy has a Diamondback Tactical 5-25x and compared it to my Viper PST Gen 2 3-15x. My PST gen 2 glass is much better. Wondering that on the Strike Eagle is it noticable difference compared to a PST gen 2?
Great video and good comparison. BUT, you’re killing me with the “this” and “that” when referring to each scope. Made it really confusing which scope you were referring to.
The pst has a way better zero stop The zero stop in the strike eagle ruins that entire scope. It takes you from 110 moa down to 47 moa of adjustment. That’s ridiculous. Your best bet is to put it on a 55moa base and just bottom the scope out. They should make a PST Gen 3 with same turrets but 34mm tube and 56 objective and put 120 moa of adjustment with same glass as razor to complete with the atacr
Hi Pieter. Wat height rings are you using on the Strike Eagle? (I still need to get rings for mine to put on a Rem 700 ADL with picatinny but don't know what height will clear the profiled barrel)
PST gen 2 is WAY better than the new strike eagle anyone with decent set of eyes can tell, 300 bucks more well spent. I have both scopes, you cant hit what you can't see clearly. Vortex is doing some marketing tactics for sure, locking turrets is the only thing the PST is missing. Reminds me of how the camera industry plays us with features.
I don’t know if I agree with that but each to their own. Although, the strike eagle has 120 mins of vertical adjustment. Better for long range. Cheaper than alternatives in the long range category such as the nightforce Atacr, vortex razor, Schmidt and bender pm2, Athlon Eros etc.
More like past 300yrd it get blurry had to check to see if the glass was laser etched , and it was just not up to my standards. That scope got returned after really trying to like it, especially when my PST gen 2 gets it done. Even Athlon at half the price is a better value. IMHO
I really enjoy my PST GEN 11 , the strike eagle to me is a diamond back made at a price point like several rifles on the market , I have several Leupold , but they have priced me out of their market
PST Gen 2 is much better than Strike Eagle , why because there is no eye box when you are moving your eye around the scope & you can shoot it with 2 eyes open. Also with 1-6-24 I can go 700-800 meters without any problems , smaller & not so heavy scope .The lens are more clear than Eagle
I've got both scopes and to me my PST II seemed just a little bit more clear, or something coating the glass makes everything pop just a little bit more for my eyes. I got a smoking deal on my PST II otherwise I wouldn't have had the money to buy it, that being said when they released the Strike Eagle I jumped on it at the price point. With the Strike Eagle having the 34mm tube with more adjustments and the ability to adjust the parallax down to 15 yards, this scope can do it all. I may have to buy another Strike Eagle for a long distance rimfire setup. My PST II is on my Tika T3x Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor. My Strike Eagle is on my Aero precision AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor.
The turrets are what prompted me to sell my Strike Eagle 5-25x56 shortly after purchasing it. "takes the cake" is a thing in america, but i dont think it means "is better than". ive only ever heard it used sarcastically.
It's in between the two, but closer to the viper than the diamondback
Damn it, man, I was about set on the Viper, but now I'm back to figuring out if Strike Eagle is better choice. Always great content, thank you.
What reloading press do you use?
Hi qiuck question guys... What Vortex Scope would you recommend fore Hunting...good to see trough in the Dark and it shouldn't be that expensive?
The crossfire ii hoghunter 3-12 is a great value for what your after. Check it out! I have one on my ar10 and its great!
Great video and good comparison. BUT, you’re killing me with the “this” and “that” when referring to each scope. Made it really confusing which scope you were referring to.
Well done review. Good content. Thanks!
Have you changed the way you record audio? The audio quality does not sound good. Can you use a lapel mic?
Heard that too, but he said that's because of him at 1:17
Been having major issues with the lapel going down mid recording and having to re-record vids. Will look at a new solution next week :-)
@@IMPACTSHOOTING awesome mate, you do too quality videos. I would want that feedback if I was in your position. Keep up the amazing work
I just paid $699 US, for the Strike Eagle. Can’t be happier !!
Where at ?
@@p9raceway759 Shooters of Columbus, GA.
Love the wave!!
Id want ffp for distance shooting.. make life easier
Hey i was have been watching the vids and love the mdt chassis. Do you have any promo codes that give to rev to help you out
I own one and love it
I needed this info
Great video! 💥 🦅
Awesome scopes.
That little girl of yours is so precious!
I myself bought the Diamondback Tactical 6x24x50 MRAD FFp
So the eagle is ffp?
Yes
Kahles or Nightforce over Vortex imo.
Go Olivia!! Pragtig!!
I can buy for essentially the same cost. If so, pst or strike Eagle?

I'm still waiting for my strike eagle. Be on backorder for over a month.
I was told 8 months for Vortex
You’re daughters a sweetheart man that’s awesome.
Hi Pieter. Wat height rings are you using on the Strike Eagle?
(I still need to get rings for mine to put on a Rem 700 ADL with picatinny but don't know what height will clear the profiled barrel)
I’d go high even with rail
@@WRA838 Thank you!
Good info thank you
PST gen 2 is WAY better than the new strike eagle anyone with decent set of eyes can tell, 300 bucks more well spent. I have both scopes, you cant hit what
you can't see clearly.
@@jezsez5074 Past 500yds the cross hairs are blurry, so they give you a throw lever so they do feel like they ripped you off. IMHO
More like past 300yrd it get blurry had to check to see if the glass was laser etched , and it was just not up to my standards. That scope got returned after really trying to like it, especially when my PST gen 2 gets it done. Even Athlon at half the price is a better value. IMHO
I really don't understand the hierarchy of Vortex's lineup anymore. With these Strike Eagles and Venom scope now it's really muddied the water.
Time for an update video then :)
I really enjoy my PST GEN 11 , the strike eagle to me is a diamond back made at a price point like several rifles on the market , I have several Leupold , but they have priced me out of their market
Heard bad things about strike eagle.
This coming from a guy sponsored by vortex
