Lee Daniels - Love Express

Lee Daniels, born on February 5, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, was a dynamic disco singer whose infectious energy and soulful vocals made her a standout star during the vibrant disco era of the 1970s. Breaking onto the scene with her debut album "Disco Nights" (1977), Lee quickly gained popularity with hits like "Love Express” and "Soul Shaker, Heart Breaker” which dominated club playlists and topped dance charts. Known for her flamboyant style and captivating stage presence, she became a regular performer at iconic venues such as Studio 54, mesmerizing audiences with her electrifying performances. Throughout the late '70s and '80s, Lee released several successful albums, and joined forces with Funk legend Baxter Gold for a number of international hit’s including “Gonna Get Funky”, earning accolades and a devoted following.
In the early '90s, seeking a new path, she retired from the music industry to pursue a career in education, dedicating herself to teaching music and inspiring young talents in underserved communities. Though she stepped away from the spotlight, Lee's legacy lived on, influencing a generation of artists and fostering creativity in the classroom.
