    I keep an oily rag specifically for cleaning impact sockets, leaves a thin film of oil behind and stops them rusting, wd40 cleans the rust off nicely if they have gotten bad

      Your right , it’s just right there!? But sometimes … it’s just too much chrome, 😕just too much chrome🥺.
      That’s a nice box, however, did you just warranty ALL tools except for rust, where’s the dirt? I know it’s STILL a $17,000 tool box w/o tools!!! Big props ..that’s BIG MONEY !!!!

    Go to harbor freight, buy some Evapo rust remover. Cut the evap rust remover down to 1:2, more water than solution in a 2 gallon bucket. Drop in rusty sockets. Return in a day and remove sockets from the water the rust should be gone, air dry with compressed air and lubricate with WD 40. No more rusty sockets.

    You should oil your tools a few times a year depending how much you use them. I clean and oil my tools with a rag sprayed with Kroil. I wipe my sockets, extensions, ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers. Almost anything metal in my box and some plastic stuff like power tools and handles. I do this about 2 times a year and it helps keep all my tools looking almost new if not new. Kroil is also great because it converts rust into back oxide or something of that sort.

    • @justinclark6053

    The Westling socket trays may help with your clearance issues on your 1/2” impact sockets in the back of your top drawer. They are really top notch billet aluminum trays.

    ATF is an awesome rust deterrent, I keep some on my tool box just to make sure my tools don't rust. Keep them coated with a thin layer and they will almost never rust. I live in Michigan and we drop tools in the rain and snow and salt all the time.

    The drawer does come out all 30 inches! You just gotta pull hard on that last little bit and it will come out! My master series does the same thing the slider gets gummed up and won’t come out that last little bit unless you regularly open it all the way

    Now that you don't use your tools that much anymore, get you some bags of color changing desiccant of ebay, they last about 3 months, then pop em in the oven to dry back out. Will save your tools. My garage is not climate controlled and wrenches started rusting, desiccant stopped it.

    Since my sockets sit at home in my box and don’t get used as much anymore, I oil them with Remington oil wipes. But I’m sure a light oil or WD-40 would do the same. It’s what’s going to happen when they sit out side in a non climate controlled environment. It’s not Snap On fault you don’t take care of your stuff. You could use a different socket storage device and then be able to utilize the depth of your drawer.

    • @justinclark6053
      @justinclark6053  4 роки тому

      If it’s not snap-on’s fault then why didn’t the other impact sockets rust...!!!!!😂

    • @stevenpope9304
      @stevenpope9304 4 роки тому +1

      It’s made of metal, it requires some care. The only Snap On sockets I have that are rusting or start to rust, are the ones I use a lot. So I keep them wiped down so they don’t rust.

  • @INNO222

    Give your drawer(s) a good pull. The sliders will allow your drawer out far enough so the back is flush with the front of your box, and therefore use all the space. Your sliders are just stiff at full extension, almost all do it.

    • @justinclark6053
      @justinclark6053  4 роки тому

      You misunderstood what I was talking about! The design of the drawer itself is what I am referring to. I do get what you are saying and sometimes the drawers do stick but again that’s not what I am referring to in this video. I’m guessing you don’t own an Epiq series box...

  • @stevebury6560

    You could buy a nice truck for what those boxes cost... Snap on tools are great but this is a box that locks up your tools, not wash and repair them while they're sitting inside overnight. As long as people keep throwing outrageous $ at snap on, they'll keep charging it. Everyone should get together and agree not to buy their tools for 1 year and see if they come down to earth with their prices! Great vid though dude!

Hell I use harbor freight 1/2” impact sockets deep and shallow haven’t broken a single one. Hell even the harbor fright 1/2” breaker bar guy next to me asked to use it to break a lug nuts on a Ford and I look over and he was standing on it bouncing. Best 20 dollars well spent

    As a starting mechanic while also taking business in college I chose not to go with tool truck brands because of the way the tool trucks act on the warranty process and just the mere fact of having to wait for them to show up. Instead I have found it cheaper and more reliable to go to harbor freight or get stuff off amazon gear wrench, tekton, Capri,etc and it’s been great and I don’t have to get on a payment plan or eat ramen noodles for the rest of my life. But nice box man!

    • @justinclark6053
      @justinclark6053  4 роки тому

      That was a very smart, educated and well thought out decision on your part. No need to sign your life away on a tool truck. Over the last decade I have seen some really shady tool truck owners/representatives! I have also seen some really good ones! I have been lucky 🍀 and not really had an issue with getting tools warrantied. In my opinion that is one benefit to using tool trucks. I don’t have to go anywhere they come to me. All I did was hand them the broken tool and they hand you a new one, or order it. My snap on rep will direct ship to my shop or house for free!!!!!

    Not hating just speaking from years of experience. Snap On's cordless power tools are absolute garbage compared to the competition. I was severely unimpressed and end selling all of mine. I end up making the switch to Milwaukee for anything cordless powered years ago. Sad as it sounds, I've seen a decrease in quality from Snap On over the past 5 years.

      @@justinclark6053 naw I get it. They got me too. It's the name. First thing that comes to mind when hearing the words "Snap On" is quality. That isnt the case though, they are trash in the cordless powered tools and they still come with a premium price. Tbh, I'm trying to get away from all Snap On tools because their quality isn't what they use to be.

      Blow molded cases take up to much room. I am kind of o.c.d when it comes to the tool box so I almost have to have it like this!! I have tried organizing it all different easy but this has worked out the best for me so far.

    The snap on impact sockets are just like your woman every once in a while you need to wipe her down and oil her up a little bit it’s called neglect

    Lightly oil the sockets

    • @justinclark6053
      @justinclark6053  4 роки тому

      No.... the sockets get oil and grease on them from being used and then wiped off before going back into the box. I don’t buy tools to have to baby them and make special accommodations so they don’t rust. I buy them to use and I expect them to last. Obviously the finish on snap-on sockets is not the same finish or material as they were many years ago.

      I’m not a Snapon fanboy but I’ve got numerous sets of their impact sockets that I’ve had for over 25 years. I’ve never had a rust issue with any of them. I haven’t purchased any in about 15 years so I cannot speak for newer products.
