For jobs like soldering to the top of that brass screw, that's when I break out the 140 watt soldering gun. It'll heat that screw real hot right NOW. Then just hit it with the solder and get back off of it. Works good.
You may have received an answer to this by now but the other wires are there for decoders which support additional lighting and locomotive functions. The decoder he installed only supports forward, reverse, front and rear directional lighting on/off, sound and depending on the loco, ditch lights and MARS light.
always enjoy how you show step by step. And using different manufactures locos helps everybody out. Thanks
Thank you. I try to show what I used to look for when I started installing decoders.
Hi are you installing on an N SCALE?
@@bonpitt55 ho i belive
I like your how to video on several different manufacturers locomotives for decoder installs
Thank you for watching.
Haven’t heard Of anyone using a Digitrax sound Decoder in forever. That’s very interesting.
Thanks, I have the same loco that I’m going to install that same encoder in. It’s my first attempt so thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching

can this fit on front-traction motor f7s? (the rear is completely empty)
These decoders will fit a variety of locomotives and brands.
@@SoloContracting thank you! ill defiantly consider buying for mine :)
How do you put the coupler snaps back on?
Could you install back-up lights?
Yes. If you wanted to . Rear lights could be installed.
Looks as if a lot of people could change to DCC. question where do all the other wires go on the other side?

The version of that same decoder they made has default steam sounds, how would I switch it over to the diesel sounds it also comes with?
Set cv 60 to 1
@@SoloContracting I have a bachmann ez command controller
I don't think you can change cv's with that system. Can you take the locomotive to a local hobby shop or club? One of them may be able to help.
@@SoloContracting my club has easydcc
How do you upload sound into the decoder?
I use a Digitrax PR3 for uploading sounds to the decoder. ua-cam.com/video/CKcOZi3aeHY/v-deo.html
How much will you charge to put Leds.in my Athearn genesis Ace 70
Please message me on Facebook for pricing. @solo contracting
Some hobbyists burn on the top back little holes so the sound is clearer in a circle pattern FYI.
