Another great video. Your knowledge and expertise on the Miss is undeniable. I wish you could put all this knowledge into a book. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
By all accounts, the walleye gillnetting was excellent last week and done in record time throughput Iowa. The spawn ended up happening right on schedule despite the warmer temps this past winter and early spring. Light intensity and length are more important than we realize.
Nice end to the trip, that last spot was definitely it. You truly have a treasure on that river. Maybe one of these days I’ll get to try it. Enjoy watching your videos.
Most informative channel regarding Mississippi River anywhere on the Internet.......your current seam information, and back eddy locations are spot on,and viral to fishing the river...... looking forward to some high water location tips ,and techniques......
Thank you! It looks like the river may come up a bit. I’ll be out there either way trying to figure them out. I’ll make sure to mention a few things to look for in high water.
Great video. Do you hold your position using Spotlok with your trolling motor? Fished last weekend for the first time. Definitely different than lake fishing constantly dealing with the current. Found you definitely need to be at full-charge, since the trolling motor never turns off. Only saw one person with an anchor out and he was having trouble holding his spot (older boat without a trolling motor).
This is beautifully done, I normally fish inland lakes, and my river fishing is pretty bad other than fishing the Great Lakes tribs for salmon and trout, and a couple outings in De Pere. Last I was on the Mississippi, it was flooded, only found one boat launch that wasn't as sketchy, also didn't catch anything from boat, only from shore. How do you fish flooded rivers, or do you even try?
Great episode, I like the animations you're using now. They are very helpful- they remind me of the old days of watching In-Fisherman TV back in the 90's as a teenager. I really want to get out today with this nice weather, but we got a house to pack up so we can move to a nicer, bigger home with a heated garage to keep my boat in for winter Mississippi Pool 11 shenanigan's.
Nice job on the location explanation and graphics to show boat location in relation to the wing dam, very informative. Its funny, this trip out just goes to show that even if there is a theory of where they are often, it can still change, not Infront of or behind the wingdam, sometimes they could be just off the end tip of the wingdam or in the backwater eddy LOL. Shifty little buggars.
I think the key is being able to adjust and try something slightly different. Sometimes it's location other times its just the time of day. Remaining flexible and adapting can turn a slow day into success.
I'm surprised about two things. You never use any live bait like crawlers or minnows to further entice the Walleye yet you slay them! Also, that bright yellow line seems contrary to what i've been told over the years...do you think a fluorocarbon leader would make any difference in your catch rate? Thanks for the info. I'll be in LaCrosse from Colorado in a week and will try to use some of your techniques to bring a Walleye home for Mom.
Fluorocarbon line or any clear line is unnecessary on the Mississippi River. The bright line helps me catch more fish in my opinion. It allows me to fish a jig and use the line as a visual indicator as to when my jig has hit the bottom. Good luck out there!!!
I love watching your video's. I see that you are using that Liquid Willow cat fluke. I ordered some and will be using them in a couple weeks up at the Dells. I also see that you primarily use chrome for the jig head. Is that your go to color for the jig head? If so, why? I usually use white. especially in the darker water. Would chrome work better. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for supporting the channel! I'm of the belief that jighead color isn't a big player in catch rates. Fishing location and jig presentation is the biggest factor in catching more fish.

Maybe I’ll write a book someday. Thank you for the comment!
You are The Mississippi River OG
😊

The water warmed up fast then cooled back down putting things back in check. Good to know all is well with the walleye spawn.
By the best you tuber for fishing I appreciate all the hard work
I appreciate the comment!
Great day on the water!..
Yes it was!
@AnglerX I finally picked up a boat, a 1625 rebel XL tiller; going to drop it in our local lake and run it around for a bit to get used to it..
Good as always, thanks Lance!
My pleasure! Thank you for commenting.

The walleyes were definitely in there. The Mississippi River is an amazing fishery!

Yes. I use spot lock. It’s a game changer when fishing the Mississippi River

Catching the crawdad was different, pretty cool! Awesome video once again!
That was a first for me!

Congratulations on your new home! A heated garage will be nice. I don't have one myself but wish I did.

Great video (again ) what model is your Lund? Like the floor layout. Looks very stabil!
1625 Lund Fury XL, I think the XL model has been discontinued.
Havent found the time tobe out thr yet but i have heard everything is starting to hit at different areas.
Once the water temp hits the 50s everything starts to bite.

Super informative video as always! Is this pool 6? Looks like a blast. Do the wing dams hold smallies all summer or is it dependent on flow?
Smallmouth will use the wing dams throughout the summer. I like to throw topwater baits for them right over the tops of the rocks.
