It's interesting because every point he made about there being no new players because there is an expectation to have 15+ years of knowledge and developed understanding of the game can also be applied to the new player to WoW experience.
I don't think so, yeah wow is difficult but there are so many difficulties to choose (LFR, myth0) especially now where myth+ is mega easy even high keys. I often have friends come to try the game, and they are more off-put by the general gameplay or lack of casual things, but difficulties are more than enough, making one eventually finds his spot where he can chill. I agree however that the game is complex to understand at first, with so many expansions and stuff, but once one tries the current expansion for a bit, he gets how they all work. This is not the case in LoL. In Lol if you make mistakes you are fucked, and the punishment for making them is 100times worse. If you go top the opponent can problably knowledge-check you in a million ways, and you can nothing but feed if you don't know what to do in that situation. If you are bronze and you found your spot in bronze, there you don't chill, you get bullied still, more often than not you never find a confortably spot, because the game is never comfortable. It pushes you and requires you to gain more knowledge without stop. Hell is have to look up a guide every time i play a new character, i never do that in wow, especially at low difficulties no one tells you anything if your dps is low, because they can carry by themselves.
@@robertrubas2634eh people hype up the knowledge checks in league but below gold players literally can't read. if you read your class' items tab and your 3 champion's tooltips you'll get gold.

The craziest part is watching these new streamer's like Forsen be CONVINCED they are 100% right and know what they're talking about. There is something about league that brings out people's EGO. Like day 1 of League someone is like "I'm terrible." Day 7 they're like "I should be challenger my teammates suck."
i think league is good but has a gigantic learning curve and its difficult to master, it doesn't help at all that the devs are constantly sabotaging and the playerbase is so deranged
Yeah, I kind of agree with that, but I don’t care how competitive your game is if one mistake can make you lose the match and matches are an hour long. That’s ridiculous.
@@Vexatiouss This is only the case once your past 30 mins in and no one can win ^^^^, so first team to dies, loses. First team to get caught, loses. Understanding this as well, is how you can go 4/9, and win the game for your team.

It's so true I made a new account pre 30 and it's basically no new players. Whoever has the most smurfs on your team wins I remember playing in season 3 and everyone was new no joke. Noone knew how to play thr game
Best advice I can give is just mute chat and try different characters. The best way to understand how a champion works is to play them. This is coming from someone who’s unfortunately played this game for 11 years.
Man I’ve been playing for over 8 years. My mmr is high plat but my actual rank is high iron. I don’t play ranked games. but if I did, a new player wouldn’t even have a chance.
League new player experiences is consistently playing vs several smurfs who are either leveling a throwaway acc or ppl doing their ranked restriction punishment games. I know cuz im playing mine rn and poor guys are just meat for slaughter. Why pit the poor new level 20 guy vs someone who played 10 years....
i remember learning to play league and my friends told me to pick a champion in the support tab that was free to play. i picked Nami and then the next day the rotation changed. i was floored that i had to start playing a different champ lmao keep in mind the only games i had played that were pvp before this were minecraft, dark souls, and CSGO. so EVERYTHING was a huge learning curve
Trying to climb Rank in an ELO based system IN A TEAM GAME as a solo player is fucking insanity. All you have to do to climb is pick the role with the most early game power and snowball/carry the game.
Last year I reinstalled the game with a fresh account after like 8 years of not playing. Wanted to just play ARAMs, cause I'm a filthy casual gamer dad now. To play aram you need to level your account to lvl 3. I actually uninstalled before getting there. The game is so incredibly HOSTILE to new players it's not even funny. Every single game there is at least 1 loser who loves to just stomp noobs and goes 20/0. For every off meta item you buy, every mistake you make you are flamed, or people just leave the game or they just report you so you end up banned. The game is insufferable.
I had 2 snipers when I had like 13 viewers and the snipers even came in my chat and told me they're sniping me lol. I can't even imagine how many snipers you would have with +20000 viewers
Ironic hearing Sodapoppin complaining up the new player experience/expectations when he has been hard on Tyler1 for learning classic WoW as a new player.
I started playing it a couple years ago. Played for about 2 weeks and then quit. New player experience is abysmal. The game itself is fun but felt that i had no impact whatsoever. Either got carried or steamrolled. Had no idea what I was doing.
This is kind of every moba experience. My mate asked me to play HOTS so i did, but after a few games you are already in games with dudes whos accounts are multiple thousands. You have no idea what most champs do, and most game mechanics. When to push, group or what objectives are important. But you instantly get told uninstall or whatever. Im from league so thats normal. But if i wasnt desensitized i would probably quit.
Dont really agree with the no new players because I just recently got my brother and his friends into league and none of them have played it before. They don’t know everything about it but are learning champs and are having fun with playing with each other
League shit, sucks to be a new player, yada yada, yet it's somehow remained relevant and played and streamed by so many people for so long. They're doing something right. Just don't know what the fuck it is.
@@Mr_Mistah Paragon died long ago and whatever extra they're making is very sub par. Also smite is different cause it's a 3d moba, I mean something similar to league eagle eye view.
What they're doing right is implementing micro dopamine releasers and so you're constantly taking hits of your drug that kills you at the same time. Last hitting CS, finding a ward to clear, successfully ganking, landing skills etc, etc.
I disabled chat 5 years ago. I wasnt angry a single minute since that day. Just play for you, your elo doesnt matter anyways. Who are you? A pro? - diable chat, queue into aram and stop crying.
and thats another reason korea is just better at the game. They arent making 100s of smurf accounts because they cant, so they are forced to actually get better on their main accounts. Riot has no idea how absolutely shiet it is play every single game against smurfs as a new player, it would actually be easier for a new player to climb out of platinum than silver due to the amount of smurfs.
Yup this whole debacle is stupid. Ranked PvP takes knowledge and confidence in any game, why jumping in as a noob? What does he hope to accomplish by doing that? Getting praise? If so many people started playing League it's because it was fun to play and fun to learn about champions, not because they wanted to flex their rank or "become a league personnality", his experience was just doomed to be a bad one from the start 😅
Everyone saying League is a bad game but ask yourself why you play it. Because it is actually a good game and very addicting. You just don't play it 12 hours a day
No it’s a garbage game… you just have played a long time.. as a new player to the game you cannot learn cause you have players that know the game and which items to buy dumping on you then emoting cause they killed you…. And if you buy the wrong item or die to much then your team quits on you and you get jumped on by 5 opponents… at least in Fortnite I can get 15 kills then get dumped on by someone better than me and feel like ok that was a good try on to the next
I’ve played league for like 12 years (with some breaks) and never had a problem with it. Just don’t take it so serious, don’t give a fuck about your rank, smoke some weed, chill out and enjoy it 👍🏻

I have never played league but come from rainbow so I have some idea of what it’s like for a game to have a shit ton of hero’s. But I just had an idea for how to make the game more accessible to learn. It would be interesting to see how it would play out if there was ranked style game mode that restricted hero’s. So at copper or what ever you only have only have access to the basic hero’s , but as you climb, the more hero’s you have access to. So if you are stuck in say gold, it narrows down how much you have to learn. It could be stupid , but might be the only way to make games like that accessible to new players
@@vividly94 I would say the ban phase is to ban hero’s that are op or annoying to deal with, not hero’s who you don’t know what they do. There is certainly some overlap, but I think being able to limit how much you have to learn at once would be helpful to new players.
@@SuperDevilDucky I never ban the OP champions unless i'm playing a champion the OP champion counters. Most of the time, i literally ban champions i don't know how to play against lol ever since i first started.
I don't think anyone has mentioned yet that if there was no rank system or world's that the game just isn't fun to play. If I was told I had to only play draft I'd just not play it. Just a boring game with lopsided matchmaking.
i just play aram and have fun. it's also hilarious watching people tryhard and flame in ARAM games. then you have people calling them out because those people are simply having fun. haven't played ranked since season 7 and my mental is great
Well I can just counter your argument by saying that I stopped playing ranked back in season 6, and draft has made the game much more enjoyable for me. Maybe don't state your subjective opinion as fact, especially if you don't have data to back it up.
I've been saying this for a while man. If you are a new league player 2024, and actually continue playing, something is wrong with you buddy. I'm sry, but you need to be on a list. I started playing right after Nocturn came out and even back then it took ages before you actually knew what you were doing. Doing that today??? Bruh.
There has never been more tools and guides available online to progress in the game, if your goal is to actually perform it's way easier to learn now than it was back then
Will say his rant about people shouldnt be surprised when you have no clue what 180+ champs do...yes-- they should be upset if you dont know what champs do. ESPECIALLY in ranked. Why even bother qeueuing ranked if you have no idea what half the champs do? Everyone has to deal with your ignorance and suffer because of your lack of game knowledge? dont play ranked. Go into norms or practice tool, or bots and learn what champs do. You're griefing people at that point if you dont know what ppl do in a ranked game.
of coures it has lot to take in to understand because its moba, cmon all of you have been there no matter the game what you played DOTA2, LEAGUE, HON, anything cause this genre of game has a lot aspect and things that makes different genre from another like shooting game only just shoot, fighting game justt pressing the button and do inputs.
I wish dota had real characters, it’s absurdly cartoonish, doughy reslly. Like oh here Lux in Lol then Archer girl in dota. Like fuck. I wish I just had the hot women in lol in dota 2 and I’d play the game forever.
I’ve always been saying that league isn’t even a real game. Half of the streamers and content creators play 1 champion and say “climb to challenger” whilst using dollar store earbuds and a laptop.
only reason i play new accounts is because unlocking all champions takes forever so whenver i wanna try something new i just make new smurf my main got banned back in 2013 for typing and i quit until 2018 so yeah i cba they should just let you have every champ for free but instead they are greedy goblins and they extract money from you with the xbox game pass lol
Yeah, league is doomed. Based on my friends, I know for a fact that they would happily make the switch and play something else because they are all just fed up - ngl they are annoying as shit in discord too, cant believe I was one of them at some point. They play the game because they've been playing for so long, climbed to "above average" elo and just get a kick out of it when they stomp someone who isn't playing their usual role. They don't want to make the switch and compete with tryhards in other games who have been playing that game for years - because we all know they would get stomped there. League's trend may go up for another 1-5 years, but all it really takes imo for leagues downfall is a new esports title being released (not necessarily a moba) that has everyone - old or young, student or 9-5 andy, casual or streamer - start anew at a similar level. If youve read until here and you want to stop playing league this year. Try uninstalling league before you go on vacation. When you come back, there is a high chance you are either cured and dont want to play it or you reinstall, play a few games and realize how miserable this game makes your life and uninstall it again - worst case nothing changed and you continue playing.
ppl said that alrdy like 6 years ago xdd, reality is no game gives you such a emotional roller coaster and that's what keeps people addicted, not to mention it eats a tremendous amount of time so you're always missing another round
i got a fuckton of aram games so knowing what each champ does is not a problem but in the rift there is so much more shit to consider. Is the old faker take "if you want to learn league the easiest way, play ryze or twisted fate" still true?
"too much to learn" for new players? It's nothing compared to dota. I started my moba addiction with Dota2. Left the country, lost my group, stopped playing mobas. Came back to the states and just dipped my toe in league. Easy to pick up. Easy to understand. No issues. Tried to go back to dota? Impossible. I will never be able to play that game again. I have NO CLUE what is happening in the 2 games I played in. Just 0-100 dead with no impact or dmg done to anyone and I could not tell you why because that game has way to much going on.
part of why dota is even harder to comprehend than league is because there is absolutely no visual clarity on whats happening. when you get hit by a xerath q or eve pops her charm on you, you instantly see the thing that caused you to die/take damage, so now you know what to look for when reading the champion kits etc. in dota, when you die because you got hit by a point and click 2s cc that has basically no visual indication, you feel like cheated by the game and your learning process is stumped as a result. league does a much better job at giving feedback during gameplay, wether its your actions or the other players actions. its those details, along with the fact that its a little more streamlined in general, that are the reason why its more popular than dota. thats how i see it, as someone that has played and enjoys both of them.
nah man, too much bias from you. Just say you dont play dota as much as league. Dota is superior in technical, sound and visual aspects. Because who made it? Valve, who took good care of polishing their own games(but they suck at marketing them).@@sundanser
@@xdplayah i agree that dota is a more complex and polished game from a technical perspective. from a visual gameplay perspective, league is simply better. im not talking about how pretty the game is, im talking about how the visuals relate to the gameplay. its not like im going to change your mind anyway, since dota dickriders would rather watch their whole family be killed before accepting any fault of their favorite game. theres a reason why you leagues euw server has more players in ranked right now than dotas all time peak player count.
@@sundanser the reason why it has more players is for sure not game related, just because Riot is more engaged in promoting their game, dont mean a shit in terms of game-balance, visual/audio clarity, quality of tutorials/guides for new players. Riot updates league every 2 weeks, why they do that? So the game will keep 'fresh', otherwise loser mental players will cry and complain about another op character(s). Every quarter they drop 'new' character with overpowered kit on a paywall, and after half a year it goes into landfill. Nice balancing. By the way if you like league more, just say it. Don't state your opinion like a fact, when Riot literally milks their own playerbase in every possible way. 2025 is near like they said.
Bad players really have a coping problem with how many smurfs they think are in the game. You have to remember that the game works to where you're just as likely to have a smurf on your team as you are likely to be playing against a smurf. And even so, you really don't encounter that many and they really won't affect your ability to climb until Diamond1/Master+. That's where there's literal GrandMaster/Challenger smurfs in about 25-50% of your games and they have 3-4 smurf accounts in Master+ meaning they are occupying spots that other players should technically be allowed to hold. I mean if every challenger has 2-3 smurf accounts in Masters+, that means there's around 400-600 spots that are artificially filled by smurfs which at the top 1% of players is a MASSIVE chunk compared to Diamond 4 and below.
Here's a simple logic so you can understand. Smurf = good ratings in game = paired with other smurfs New player = mains 1 champion = gets good at it = good ratings in game = paired with other smurfs So when a good new player gets paired with other smurfs who knows the mechanics and skills of champions for years, he'd lose. Simple as that.
bro ever used op gg or anything like it? just count for one day how many level 50 or below players get into ur matchmaking... Ofc those are just new players with 60% and higher winrates that chose to just play one champ since they created the account.
His point is that even low elo players have secondary accounts which they play on to cool off from a tilt, play with friends etc. There's so many low level accounts even in low elo playing like you could obviously tell that these aren't new players and that's his point as an actual new player; level 30 accounts complaining why he doesn't know how all 160 champs work.
just cause someone is in silver doesn't mean they aren't a "smurf", you've people who play this game for 10years on/off and will prob play their 4th character rn and be stuck in silver. They might be bad but they still have already thousands of hours of experience and knowledge about the game. Longtime players literally can't understand how it must feel like to see Yasuo, Syndra or Nocturne and not even know wtf these characters even have for skills at all. You're correct tho that actual smurfs from good players are never even playing below anybody under p2. Idk how it is rn but for the last years starting MMR was E2
You can delay your stream up to 15 minutes, which means sniping your stream they would be 15 minutes behind making it pointless so i have no idea why they dont do that while streaming league.
LoL is a Very mid game when it comes to skill cap it's far from the high end but also far from the low it when he said there is so much to manage I almost laughed because yes it has more than the extreme low of Fortnite but nothing on the extreme high of star craft abilities take half the brain to decide to use than it would in a WoW arena and positioning takes up most of the games skill cap and I would place much value on something that is so easy to master

such a bad take honestly. the worst thing about league is as worse as you and your teammate's mental. sure there are frustrating things that are out of your control ( bad teammates, ego smurfs on your team inting, smurfs on enemy team diffing, stream sniping ) but let's not pretend that when these things happen ( to even us ) and we complain, we are complaining out of a blameless position. you could have played better too and probably made MANY mistakes (especially if you're gold elo). rarely do I see players have the humility to say "MB" and be accountable for their OWN faults. positive mindset to improve on your own gameplay will make you enjoy the game because it is actually enjoyable and not focusing things outside of your control
Insanly stupid take from you. With the way snowballing works the average silver and below game is just who has the lane with the brain dead pice of a monkey who will die 5 times before min ten, lol is a team game where you can hardly win allone but one teammate can run it down and your forced to pretend that there is a likelyhood above the avaerage dc rate to still win. About "rarely do I see players have the humility to say "MB"" what could be the reason the cancer community which only catalyst for there selfhatred is to devalue other people even more than they do to them self? No, the 1/8 top lane would never start blaming the jungler after one failed gank at min 15 for there inability to use there brain...

Only thing i'm perplexed by is why play ranked so early in such a deep game

It could be stupid , but might be the only way to make games like that accessible to new players
but isn't that what the ban phase is for? lol
@@vividly94 I would say the ban phase is to ban hero’s that are op or annoying to deal with, not hero’s who you don’t know what they do. There is certainly some overlap, but I think being able to limit how much you have to learn at once would be helpful to new players.

So streamers that hit challenger while streaming are actually a tier above normal player.
You're griefing people at that point if you dont know what ppl do in a ranked game.

im a new player and i enjoyed everything with league except my first 5-10 games honestly, it just takes a lil to get used to thats all
Yeah, league is doomed.

Is the old faker take "if you want to learn league the easiest way, play ryze or twisted fate" still true?
Also playing against a champion in lane is vastly different than playing against them in aram
Yeah that's a bad thing brother, that's why no one plays dota
part of why dota is even harder to comprehend than league is because there is absolutely no visual clarity on whats happening. when you get hit by a xerath q or eve pops her charm on you, you instantly see the thing that caused you to die/take damage, so now you know what to look for when reading the champion kits etc. in dota, when you die because you got hit by a point and click 2s cc that has basically no visual indication, you feel like cheated by the game and your learning process is stumped as a result. league does a much better job at giving feedback during gameplay, wether its your actions or the other players actions. its those details, along with the fact that its a little more streamlined in general, that are the reason why its more popular than dota. thats how i see it, as someone that has played and enjoys both of them.
nah man, too much bias from you. Just say you dont play dota as much as league. Dota is superior in technical, sound and visual aspects. Because who made it? Valve, who took good care of polishing their own games(but they suck at marketing them).@@sundanser
@@xdplayah i agree that dota is a more complex and polished game from a technical perspective. from a visual gameplay perspective, league is simply better. im not talking about how pretty the game is, im talking about how the visuals relate to the gameplay.

theres a reason why you leagues euw server has more players in ranked right now than dotas all time peak player count.
@@sundanser the reason why it has more players is for sure not game related, just because Riot is more engaged in promoting their game, dont mean a shit in terms of game-balance, visual/audio clarity, quality of tutorials/guides for new players.

League just sucks ur time away, no shit you can get good at cod faster than a game with 50+ champs
Smurf = good ratings in game = paired with other smurfs
New player = mains 1 champion = gets good at it = good ratings in game = paired with other smurfs
So when a good new player gets paired with other smurfs who knows the mechanics and skills of champions for years, he'd lose. Simple as that.
Ok league cuck😂
bro ever used op gg or anything like it? just count for one day how many level 50 or below players get into ur matchmaking...
