- Nick and I was in the market for some new handmade custom blades. We searched and found 73Forge from San Diego California. In this video we show and carve a little while making some Bush coffee also known as cowboy coffee or hobo coffee. We also talk about Bush pots, and anoraks.
Oh I forgot to mention for those that are asking about the knifemaker 73forge@gmail.com
Those knives you guys have are amazing.
Hi Dave I couldn’t find the website can you send me the link
He is on UA-cam, Facebook and Instagram so he may not have a free standing web site. I usually deal with him through Instagram because that way I can see what handle material he has available
Thanks for the love brother 👍🏼🍺
@@73FORGE Thanks for the beautiful work you do brother!
I laughed so hard when the dog flew in for a visit!!!! Oh my gosh that was so hilarious. The dog probably missed y'all and was happy to see his friends again. Lol!!!! And I'm getting 2 knives from 73 Forge.....thanks for the fun and info!!!!
I couldnt believe that dog showed up again! Of course we were in the same area as the last video. Youre gonna love them knives. I'm glad you liked the video and Thanks for watching
The dogs owner doesn’t even know,he’s a UA-cam*Star* He is really a beautiful Golden Retriever, and I’m sure he’s just out in the woods doing his thing. I really love dogs.Anyway great Video, just love when you & Nick show your knives and machetes, very interesting and entertaining.l would bet the Knifemaker is also loving this video. “See Ya In The Next One”
What would be really funny is if the dogs owner just happened to stumble across this video! We are glad you liked it all and thanks for watching Randy!
That dog really wanted some love and attention! Very cute!
And he got it! Thanks for watching James
"you could beat a bear to death with that pot" had me laughing. What a turn of phrase! That dog stole the show though and needs to be in more videos!
@73 Forge knives are great looking. Good to showcase a custom maker.
Lol, I wouldn't wanna get hit with that pot! That was a very cool dog. Thanks for watching Rob
Pretty knives and strong coffee. Great start to the day.
Thanks Mike! I'm glad you liked it
Hey fellow minnesotan👋
@@libertyairbrushing7349 Wassup!
It's so good to hear "Heeeeey everybody" again. I've been wait for another video for a while now. You and Nick just made my week.
Great to hear that Mark and We are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Best father son duo on UA-cam for bushcraft fun. Beautiful knives.
Thanks!
When you said, "Your curls are mixed in with my course shavings." I thought of, "You got chocolate in my peanut butter!" "Well you got peanut butter on my chocolate!" LOL
Another highly enjoyable video from Dave and Nick!
Lol!
Thanks so much for making these videos! I have extremely bad depression and anxiety issues and when I’m not well, watching your videos is my best therapy! I also love primitive camping and bush craft and watching you and Nick always makes me feel so much better! Thanks for being such a great person and really caring about others! It really shows that you are a really good person! God bless !!!
You are very welcome and Im glad the videos help perk you up! I try my best to never be negative or too dramatic. The worlds got too much of that going on now anyway. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
I watch your videos, not because of the content, but because I just enjoy hanging out with you in the woods. Thanks for doing what you do. Don’t get me wrong, the content is great too. You just seem like someone anyone could hang out with and have a good time. Love the pot hanger! Never seen that simple idea before.
Always great hearing from you Brother. Too bad we dont live closer. No telling what kinda videos we could make! Take care and Thanks for watching Jason
Thanks David and Nick. Thanks for taking time to video, and having fun in the woods.
You are very welcome and we are glad you liked it!
Among the many wonderful things about your channel is your immense love for, and knowledge of, the wilderness experience which you generously share not only with your family members but the rest of us, as well. You don’t concentrate on the use of firearms or the skills required for hunting big game, but the joys of bushcraft and experiencing nature itself. 👏🏻
Thanks! You understand what I'm all about!
@@Reallybigmonkey1: Thank you, my friend. Finding your channel has been a blessing. 👍🏻
friendly, fun dog! Game me a good laugh!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all!
@@Reallybigmonkey1 I always enjoy your videos, even when you don't have strange dog suddenly showing up or your cats trying to be famous. lol
At least the dog is friendly. Beautiful knives. Its always great to see you and your son together. Thank you both for everything. God bless and stay safe.
Very friendly dog! We are happy you liked it Rich. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too
Thumbs up. You've been so patient and kind to the dog. You are a good man. Always interesting your videos, thank you for having a good time with you.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. That dog was too cool to not be nice to it! Thanks for watching
Cool! I love your videos! 👍
Thank you Ian!
It was Great to see Nick out from behind the camera in this video! Great video,
I love it when he gets more involved, We are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
My wool blankets came and the small kettle too...it's becoming real this camping adventure! Thank u. Thank u so much for your replies. They mean a lot.
Great to hear you're getting geared up for camping! I'm always happy to help Lana
I love it, you don't push products but fabricate what you have. Very important. Kudos
Absolutely! Making gear is half the fun! Thanks for watching Bill
My new favorite measurement... “somewheres in the neighborhood of right there.”
Lol! That's a southern measurement
I am still laughing on Dave's use of Alabama hammer :).
Nick is a great tripod/camera pointer partner. A stray dog chip fluffer is better than a stray dog that thinks your tent is a fire hydrant.
Lol! Well said Calvin
Now I'm expecting that dog to show up and crash the party on the next video. Beautiful knives! Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!
If he does it'll be his third video! I'm glad you liked the knives brother, thanks for watching
Hello Guy's, it is nice to see you in the video Nick and Dave snatch the dog. It seems to be a very nice and mellow poch. Hey great video I have never seen this way of coffee making before, easy and no filters to mess with. Are you ever going to come to Arizona, I have so many area's you would have a great time. Since I live here I have been to most place's, cave's, lakes, camping grounds, wilderness, hiding in the mountains and so on. If you ever think your going to come this was let me know and I would love to show you around the desert. Very nice video guys and Nick keep going out with your Dad and learn all you can, some day when you look back in time you will have a smile on your face just thinking about the fun you had with your Dad. God Bless guys and hope more videos are coming...
Hello Thomas and we are glad you liked it! You really gotta try this coffee sometime. It's unbelievable smooth. I'd love to see Arizona some day. I've honestly never been out of the south. Thanks watching and may God bless you too
When Nick was talking about the knife edge. (Not a nick on it ) I expected him to reach around the Camara and put a finger on the blade and say (until now)
Lol! Now thats clever
Nearly choked in my coffee when the dog arrived. Great video!
Lol, That was pretty darn funny. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Love when you're out there with Nick. It's like having 50% boost to your exclusive ironic style :D
Lol, I love being out there with him. Thanks for watching
Stop working just to see the new video. The knife with the blue handle is beautiful. Thanks for another good video.
Thanks Joe! I'm glad you liked it.
Heyyy ever-body😉Those knives look great. The three thumbs down, are probably stuck in their moms basement, trying to figure out how to operate an Etch-a-Sketch. Love the dog! 😬😬🤪🤪😘
They need to be hung up by their thumbs! LOL!
Thanks! I'm glad you like em. Lol, pretty much all thumbs down happen in the first hour or an upload. I guess they have no life other than set up a command center in the basement and wait on old Daves upload so they can thumb it down. Lol, thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 Members of the "Thumbs Down" Society.....🤪🤪🤪
@@Reallybigmonkey1 I'm so proud... I got my first thumbs down on a video last week... I've hit the big time...hahahaha
@@Plain-Ole-Chuck Congrats! You must be doing something right!
Hey! Aye, o! Happy Friday!
Hey Mike!
Always good to see father and son enjoying a coffee a chat over a fire in the bush 👍🇦🇺, hi folks
Always great to be out there Eric and we are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
So far the dog is the best part of this one ! 😂
When I saw that dog show up again I was cracking up 🤣🤣🤣
Lol, that dog really cracked me up!
Good morning, Dave.
Good morning Dan!
That dog had me in tears 😂 and liking Nick's skills, but is he feeling alright, he didn't mention lighter fluid once lol. Thanks guys, take care 👍🙂
lighter fluid is nick's favourite drink.
we are glad you liked it Mike! That dog had me rolling too! I asked Nick if he could go one video without mentioning lighter fluid. Lol. Thanks for watching
There is absolutlely nothing not to like in this video: the appreciation of a good knife; delight in the company of a dog; dedication to making good coffee; and enjoying fine company for Fun in the Woods.
Oh, I did some research on fire temperature and coal temperature - each is about the same. So cook to your preference it makes little difference. (excepting bonfires, of course).
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all! Very good to hear about flame to coal temperature! I never heard that before. Thanks for watching
Wonderful variety of the things you guys demonstrate in your videos, but I never get tired of watching y’all make coffee or cooking in the woods. Blessings to you from your Louisiana friends!
Fantastic to hear that my friend!
That's a crazy dog but you're probably in his territory. Scooping the coffee from the pot seems to get less coffee grounds then pouring from the coffee pot. Welcome to the 73 Forge knife club. Stay safe Dave and Nick.
Lol, that dog was totally crazy but fun. Yep, coffee scooping is always the way to go. Thanks for introducing me to the 73forge knife club brother!
@@Reallybigmonkey1 Dog is not crazy, it's a Retriever! Even though you were in his terretory it welcomed you with love! Very normal for this breed. Always happy to see you and you're instantly a best friend.
A comment, a like and now on to the watching of the video! :)
Thanks for watching!
Yes I certainly had fun Dave. A very relaxing video. Good job Nick. The dogs visit is a hit. You've been blessed by his company.
Thanks Bob! Man that dog really made my day
That was brilliant guys. Your wee K9 friend was cute but destructive. Properly laughed out loud at that. 👍
Thanks, We are glad you liked it. Lol, destructive but quite funny! Thanks for watching
I loved this video. There is nothing better than seeing father & son having a coffee and chatting together out in the woods. It was great to see Nick showcase his skills in this one too 👍🏻 he did a fantastic job, especially with a new knife but then he’s had a great teacher. It’s great to see you both together. Here in the U.K. we’re under lockdown number 3! Not to mix with anyone you don’t live with, not even outdoors. It’s ridiculous & whether we stick to it, or not, 😉 I’m very much looking forward to our freedom again and spring coming. Thank you for an hour of relaxation. Much love 💕
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it that much Sheila! Yep, Nick is a chip off the ole block. Im proud of him. Lock down number 3? We have lockdowns more often in differing parts of the country but its opening up slowly now. Thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 Yep total lockdown for months on end now. Everything is closed, we’ve barely been out about 6/8 weeks of the last year of lockdowns I’m so sick of it & of people complying, but that’s my own personal opinion.
By the was this is one of the first of your videos that actually showed up into my notifications it was great
Really? That's fantastic!
Dave, Nick, as great as you all are I think the dog has been stealing the show. He or she is just adorable1
Lol! I'll admit that was pretty awesome! Thanks for watching Jlynn
♥️ "Pain" the Dog! He needs to be in all future vids! So glad y'all left him in.
If he comes back we'll leave him in for sure!
Very enjoyable. Thanks for bringing us along. Stay safe & god bless from your friends across the pond 🇬🇧
We are glad you liked it Michael! Thanks for watching and may God bless you too
LOL! Some dogs just have too much energy to stay home. One escaped Golden Retriever TRAINED me to throw rocks in the river:- I played complete idiot just to see.... she touched the rock with her nose, slapped my hand and turned towards the river, then looked at me looking like "get it?".... THE DOG TRAINED ME I TELL YOU!
3 hours later I was still trying to get away, but she came to herd me back to the shore and looked at me like "what are you doing? This is not the way to the water!" Great dog, I miss her.
Really? I knew dogs were smart but I didn't know they had that level of communication!
@@Reallybigmonkey1 The really smart ones do... Look up "dog talking with buttons" on YT.... it's really amazing!
It’s good to see Nick on this side of the camera. Great job guys!! 🇺🇸
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing information and a good time in the woods. The dog was happy his neighbors have returned home. There's nothing like a genuine home welcoming. ❤ A little inconvenience made the experience memorable and you've made a lifetime friend.
You are very welcome Theresa and we are glad you liked it! The dog enjoyed it too. Lol. Thanks for watching
Love those knives, I really like the color of the handle on Nick's, the dog cracked me up !!!
Great info and great video guys !!!

Thanks David!
David and Nick, thank you for taking me along ### what a great way to start my weekend :-) Bushcraft Greetings from Bavaria, Michael
We are glad you liked it Michael and thanks for watching!
Nicks looking more n more like his old man. So glad this channel exists
Thanks Juan!
Good looking Kid, just like his old man. Enjoyed your newest video thanks guys.
Thanks! And we are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Son looking more and more like you.
It is cold in Ohio.
Really cold.
My favorite knife is one I got from my childhood best friend's mother after he took his own life.
As children and young adults, he was pretty good at dragging me out into the woods, teaching me.
I take his knife everywhere I go and remember everything he taught me.
The knife barely fits in my purse.
Of course my purse also contains lots of other gear.
My friend taught me well.
We are used to 90F to 100F in the summer here so it doesn't take much for us to get cold. I'm sorry to hear about your friend but that is fantastic you have that knife. It's always good to have something from a lost loved one to keep the memories alive. Thanks for watching
Thanks for allowing me to join you two, having fun in the woods. :) ATB guys.
Always happy to have you along Brother!
Thank you gentlemen, our temperatures just took a turn. Tonights low is about -30 °C or -22°F. Just yet another reason to vicariously getting outdoors with you 2. You make every second Friday, a kickback and imagine being outside. All the best from Mr Kochanski's home province, lol.
You are very welcome and we are glad you liked it. -22F? Man thats unreal cold! RIP Mors and Thanks for watching
great to see the dog dave!
It added plenty of humor to the video!
You can call it military coffee also. When i was in the Army the cooks made it the same way just on a much larger scale. We just called it coffee. Good to see you two enjoying the woods.
Thanks for the info RoVin. I didnt know they made it that way. Thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 I remember that they would also tap the side of the pot after the cold water to help the grounds settle. Or was it before the cold water? Man it's been 30 years. They said it got the grounds off the sides and them settle. Maybe you could try it both ways. I started drinking coffee in the Army because it was the only thing hot at night that was sent out to the field. Ok, enough of my trip down memory lane dragging you kicking and screamin..lol
THANK YOU very much Dear Dave beautiful knives waiting for your next video
You are very welcome and We are glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
I really enjoy your videos, and that you are teaching your son the basic survival skills. Awesome Dad.
Thanks Darlene! I'm glad you like what all I do
GREAT VIDEO guys. When Nick said just mash it on the tree to break it. I was saying, Nick he's testing his knife out & quit trying to take all of your Dad's fun away.... lol...
I think you did a great job on this video. If he's going to try to take out the fun of David in the woods! He's got another thing coming..... RIGHT?
Anymore this is where I live my life in the woods is through y'all. Being disabled & right now I can't get out in the woods to play, I'm having back surgery next Wednesday Feb. 10th, 2021 So I'm going to be stir crazy for awhile.
Dreadful sigh ................, bc I'll be down for a week or so. Not mentioning the pain is going to drive me batty & my husband who gets stuck w/me, bc where both not good patients @ all & y'all move so slow, my kids, for my pace.
Does it bother anyone else, like it does me? I wonder!
Well anyways looked like y'all still had fun, although Nick tried to steel your fun. Be safe & one day we'll all meet by the fire pit.
Chris from Missouri
Thanks Chris! We are glad you liked it. Lol, Nick just likes smashing sticks over trees hearing that popping sound. I used to work with a guy that had back issues. He was all humped over, slowly walked and had to prop up on everything. He went out for back surgery and came back to work like an 18 year old kid! I hope your surgery goes well. Just stay sane while stuck in the house. Take care and Thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 thank you David. When I started reading he was all hunched over I almost quit reading & was going to say DON'T TELL ME THAT.... lol.... but glad I keep reading & he was all good. I'm praying it'll all goes good.
Take care & have fun in the woods w/o me. I'm there in spirit w/y'all. Someday I would like to meet you & Nick,

Great when the dog showed up AGAIN ! Got a big laugh on that. Lets name him "Reallybigpain" !
Lol, good one Julius!
Dave, Nick and a yet to be named pooch having fun in the woods. Doesn’t get much better than that! Dave what about the guy that made a signature knife in your name? From Colorado if I remember correctly?
Lol! We are glad you liked it Steve! That was Jerrys woodshop and outdoors from West Virginia. He made them and they were sold through Colorado Bushcraft. He made them in small batches, all with the same wooden handles. I think he took a break from knife making foe a little while. Thanks for watching
I really like your anorak young man. Knife is sweet too. Aww , just loved the dog coming to visit!

Hi Dave & Nick. Here in Western, NY it will be a LONG time until I get out Camping and making coffee. We are in our Frigid time of year, and DEEP snow. Enjoyed the Video. That Dog seems very friendly. He just wants to hang out with you guys and be a Bush Buddy:)

See Nick’s doing a great job maybe if you trade places for a while he will be more confident in his work you can teach him so much brother
Who knows, we may do that! Thanks for watching
Sure fire way of making sure “Pain” doesn’t return is go to the woods specifically to do a video about him. It’s kinda like doing a fishing video..... the fish never show up! Ha Ha! Man, I’m loving my 73 Forge knife more and more everyday. Partly because it’s simply a “B.A.” knife, but mostly because of who made it. Steve is such a cool guy and it’s been awesome seeing how far he has advanced his skills. Just think how good he’s going to be in 3 or 4 more years! 🇺🇸🔪💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻 Oh..... the coffee looked great too 😉 (and the M43)
Lol! You are so right! Kinda like wanting Bigfoot to show up but never does until you least expect it. Im amazed at Steves skills. His knives are literally like works of art compared to others. We are glad you liked the video, Thanks for watching Chris!

I'm sitting here drinking coffee while watching this and I got to wondering if you can look at the stats on people watching your videos to see where they pause. If you can, I bet a bunch of people pause shortly after 46:30 to go pee after listening to you dribble the cold water to shock the grounds.
No, you can't see when people pause.

The closeup of the cold water going into the pot reminded me of something else, and, at my age (79), that generates an urge that cannot be ignored.
Lol! Sorry bout that

Wow! Another great video. It’s always great to see you and Nick out in the woods. It’s so funny I’ve been watching your videos for so long that I remember way back when you first started and you made the sacrilegious statement that a knife is a knife. All it took was using using them a lot and buying more to get you hooked. God bless you both. John
Thanks Brother John! glad you liked it. Lol, Well that was years ago when I had a tiny collection of knives. The more I bought the more I understood how some knives features excel at some tasks and are just adequate at other tasks. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too Brother!
