Shenmue was the game to play on Dreamcast. System wise yes it was the best sega system. Game wise it wasn’t around long enough to take the lead on that. Plus the features and graphics for its time were top notch.

Just in case no one said it, The Mega Drive and the Genesis are the same console. They were thinking of the Master System which was its 8-bit predecessor or maybe the 32x attachment.

The batteries were on both sides with the game gear because the cartridge slot was in the middle. That was the only way they could place the battery slots.
The Dreamcast was like The Thing or Gremlins...those were legitimately awesome movies, that got overshadowed by blockbusters...The Thing with E.T. and Gremlins with Ghostbusters. If the Dreamcast had come out a year earlier and basically had 1998 and 1999 to itself, it might be remembered completely differently had it established the footprint SEGA desperately needed it to in North America and Europe.

I always wanted a Dreamcast as a kid. Brody was right; it didn’t receive the love it truly deserve.
The Dreamcast was the beginning of the end for the arcade games, especially fighting games. Once Soul Caliber, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Virtua Fighter looked and played like, if not better, than the arcade ports, it was a wrap!! Nights Into Dreams, Panzer Dragoon, Time Cop, all the sports 2K games… and introduced online gaming!!! Dreamcast didn’t have the catalog, but the innovation puts it above the Genesis and most other systems, too. I agree with this “blasphemy”
No I'd say Genesis and Snes was the beginning of the end for arcade gaming.
Arcade games were dying before the DC was even announced. Gaming in the 80's and early 90's killed arcades.
@@CappinHoff in the mid 90’s in the US, maybe… but in Japan, arcades only recently started dying off. It’s why Tekken 7 Arcade came out a full year before consoles. But when games started to look like their arcade counterparts at home, we in the US was like “why go to an arcade when i got it at home and spent like $300-$500 to do so???” That was around 98’-99’ when the Dreamcast was introduced.
@@brothaNblue naw, both the Genesis & Super Nintendo ports were shitty visually and sound wise compared to the Arcades. It’s why games like Mortal Kombat were watered down when they got to consoles - they weren’t powerful enough machines to emulate arcade boards. When games moved from cartridges to CD’s is when the home versions of games started looking and playing like the arcade - and the Dreamcast is that line of demarcation

The Dreamcast was THE best Sega console easy. It started the 6th generation of home console gaming. It streamlined online gaming on the home console. Everything Capcom put it on it was God tier. The VMU was revolutionary. Soul Calibur. Jet Set Radio. Sonic Adventure. Power Stone 1 and 2. Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2. Mr. DRILLER. NBA Showtime.
AND it was the first system that introduced online play

BUT, if PS2 would've come out 6 months to a year later...We'd have a 4 console ecosystem (PS, XBOX, Switch, DC)
Nope. The DC and SEGA still would have failed. SEGA was losing money left and right on the DC and couldn't' even market it correctly past the release date. By the time the PS2 was released the DC was already barely selling and ending.
piracy killed the system, it was too easy to download and burn games to a blank cd. they made no money because of this. the current NBA 2K and madden have nothing on the OG NBA 2k and NFL 2k. best sports games ever and Shenmue was the truth.
Nope, piracy really did nothing to harm the DC sales. They didn't have money because of the failed Saturn and Sega CD. Piracy didn't really happen wide scale until after the DC was done. It's just a bad excuse of revisionist history users.

That dreamcast take is FACT not blasphemy. The 2K sports games alone made the console worth it. That said, Dreamcast was a GREAT console but it's catalog was suspect. Admittedly the reason it failed was because of Sega. If I remember right they did a surprise release ahead of schedule but because it was so early, game developers didn't have any games ready

Na Genesis had better games/ more games, it wasn’t better as a system. Dreamcast was ahead of its time, it did not get the chance to thrive that the Sega systems before it got. Dreamcast is definitely better than any other Sega system in every way, it just lacked games.

Huh? MS had nothing to do with the modem. That was a SEGA idea that they wanted to implement. Only thing MS did was Windows CE that was supposed work with certain games and future games/software.
