This is genuinely hilarious 😂 the use of stuffed caricatures seems so timeless, I can already imagine the adults and kids laughing at this when it first came out.
Yes, we today are used to see the most baffling CGI or stunts doing crazy things but back there, it was much more simple.
Haha I thought the same thing. I imagined children and adults laughing when they saw this.
Nice to see things haven't changed much
Lol
People have been shenaniganing and getting up to ruckus since the first man stood and said, "pull my finger".
Nice? I find it existentially terrifying
@@jcalle2 You're easily shocked
🤣👍✨
This level of directing and special effects in 1899... it's truly amazing. It changes our preconceptions about the 19th century.
great film tricks for 125 years ago, I'm surprised to see them already cutting things together so well that long ago
Exactly
An early example of "sports entertainment".
The first two got them child-bearing hips
Serious gyatt for days in the 1800's
they probably had like 20
Awesome. A special effects extravaganza
1899 internet videos pretty much the same 125 years later 😂
"Eegads! What sorcery is this?!"
---- Viewer in 1899, probably
impressive for 1899
Imagine 125 years is but nothing in the grand scheme of the timeless earth. It's not even yesterday, it's less than a milli- second ago.
Are you familiar with Carl Sagan's "Cosmic Calendar"?
@@Mark73 no can't say I am..
Brilliant for 1899 and brilliantly restored for today.👈⬅
Brilliantly restored? They just passed it through some machine learning upscaling and recoloring algorithms. The faces of the actors look like they are made of jello.
If you search "Luttes Extravagantes" on this website you'll find what this channel most likely used as a source, uploaded to the spanish ministry of culture channel.
It is grainy, low resolution, low framerate, slightly blurry and monochromatic, but it is still ten times as sharp as this mess.
This is the bare minimum.
@@cerocero2817 Yes, Drip Stick, brilliantly restored. Get used to it.
I wonder how many in the audience fainted when the man started being pulled apart.
I would say zero.
@johnathandavis3693 I'd say probably almost everyone did. It was 1899 after all.
Разве что от смеха
@@OUTATIME84 The theater existed. Special effects pre-dated film
Pretty sure u would have gone insane
I agree with the comments about the century before lasts's clever use of cut scenes.🎬😁
0:25 That's part was so funny
Beautiful way to start my week...very entertaining and joyful!....
Much more realistic than the WWE.
The fact that this and the napoleonic wars are in the same century is mind boggling
Barely.
@@chasekays81 and? You would expect them to be 2 centuries apart
Ancient gyatt 🗣‼️‼️
00:25 where is the difector buried I gotta send him flowers for that one
I think he's buried in Les Invalides, in france. I'm not sure.
ahead of their time
No, trick photography was common early on.
@@svensvensson2724 This is early on
@@tpower1912 That's what I said.
@@svensvensson2724no you didn't
@@headshotmaster138 I did. You have poor reading comprehension.
Wow! That was fantastic for such early films. Great editing very funny.😊
I wonder if any viewers thought this was magic? They surely wouldn't be saying "Oh, those were special effects!" That concept wasn't in pop culture yet.
This could totally be a Monty Python skit!
The sure were a dank bunch back in those days!!
Wow! I was wondering when will there ever be any more films by Georges Melies!
That's really impressive.
That was fun. The moments with the dummies was hilarious. :D
I loved this 0:50
0:01 - 0:09 это женское гачимучи 🤣
♂️Girl next door♂️! ♂️Тhe leather club is two blocks down♂️
Nice film collections you have
Melies is The boss ❤
He knocked my block off !!!
The most difficult move in that whole sequence was the male wrestler on the right lifting his female counterpart at the very end !
The women were then arrested for wearing pants.
Oh I loved this! 😄
Amazing ❤
Looks like Mortal kombat prototype 😅
Put it on 0.70 playback speed for more realistic motion.
Very good! And funny too!
Is that the original matrix or fight club, the effects are awesome
I was just here because of the thumbnail.
CGI still better than in last disney movies
Mortal Kombat fatalities, PG version 😁
they thicc the girls
I see they appreciated the thicc as well.
Nice Thumbnail
Hilarious😂
Pensar que 1889 seguia siendo parte de la Era Victoriana, bueno parte de los últimos años...tambien tenia o cumpliria un año del asesinato de la Emperatriz Sissi ...
A reminder to not be too serious and pretentious with filmmaking. If the early pioneer of film was using a sense of play while doing special effects and visual effects work, you should too!
Ha ha! Very good :)
Wholley FAQ, the EDITS!!!
I hope that stache was real 🤩
I like the is version of Papageno & Papagena... 👍
Whatever the fuck this is... fucking rules!
Someone tell Catfight Joe about this.
Verdade é que a arte era mais criativa.
Better than just about 99.9 percent of the crap that's being made these days.
Notice there were indeed Women in this short. They were disappeared in the written commentary.
Harry Houdini's grandparents and uncles.
It would be nice to have music from the White Star Line Songbook instead of Mozart. Just to get more of that Edwardian feeling to it.
🕵️✨
Impressionante essas imagens do século passado.
Shame it cut away just as the guy on the right was about to pick up the fat woman.
I thought that was crinoline. Ladies' butts really were that big back then???
Absolutely! That's how the world's population grew from 1.6 billion in 1899 to 8 billion in 2024. It's all because of attractive women, and men who found them attractive.
Kind of strange choice of music to add
there is no capcut at that time
ha ha David Copperfield style
Victorian hardcore
😂😂😂😂👍
why add contemporary music?
🤣👍🏻
Thicc
Goofy ahh
Original mud wrestling
First filmed wrestling show? 😁
Ya momma films wrestling shows
WWE haven't changed much.😅
Un buen truco de edición. Esos cuerpos no tenían tal simetría en esa época . Es EDITADO
I remember seeing this back in the day, but I had to close my eyes until that moment at 0:09 . Before that its too rude. I still looked away at that first part
Please tell me you're joking.
@@Kommander_Rahnn About which bit? The rude bit? I dont wanna see that if yes.
From this to Shorts what´s the difference
There was no color film in 1899.
This is gayer than Olly Alexanders arse.
Made for Tiktok
Loved the video, still hate the music...
Boy does it suck...
It's all CGI..
Bullshit this is new film 😢
1899 bullshit more like 2024
Have most of de saved movies from Georges Méliès'. Almost believe this is an AI fake... Am I alone?
NOT EVERYTHING IS FUCKING AI GODDAMN IT
@@Kommander_Rahnn Then how did they manage to get a color film from 1899?
The first color film wasn't developed until after the turn of the 20th century, and nobody was using it for movies until the 1930's.
@@dogzebra2708
Have you never heard of colorization? Holy shit, do you live under a rock? Like WTF?
