David’s impersonation of his dad is hilarious. Fun interview.
David was an actual Nigerian prince! I'd love to get an email from him
🤣🤣🤣
Whether it’s playing as Dr. MLK or Callus in Star Wars Rebels, David Oyelowo ALWAYS brings gravitas!
I think you meant “gravites”
I follow David on IG and his late father was a absolute delight. His leaf blower commitment was top notch. 😊
🍂 DA LEAVES! 🍂
9:37-9:57
I got teary eyed 🥹
@@tiffanygrace85 😥 me too
I got goosebumps & welled up 🥺 It was a lovely story
I worked on many sets of Bass Reeves, with David Oyelowo as the title role. He is incredibly talented, yet very down to earth and kind to those around him. A class act for sure.
Sona's yeahhhh when Conan says all he's got is he's kinda funny had me. 😂
I love David Oyelowo! I’ve been a fan of his Shakespeare work for years, so happy to see him here 👏
Conan is tall, I gave him a hug decades ago in 1999 before the show when I was in the audience. This was when they brought the late night show to LA briefly...I didn't realize how tall he is... Conan also wrote me a hand written signed letter when I was a kid on public access t.v. Awesome seeing him make all this material over the years. He's a stand up guy and really appreciates his fans!
Anyone with Team Coco is winningest.
It's very rare that I feel like crying when I watch this podcast, but Conan's face after David said what his father told him after the play... such a beautiful yet painful reaction, and I felt exactly the same. I wish the world was a better place.
I’m so sad to hear that David’s dad has passed away. His legendary obsession with the leaf blower will be missed!
Dang! Now I need to see a movie with Tom Crew directed by Stephen Spielburger
I have loved this man since MI5. Everything else is a bonus.
Is MI5 what they call Spooks in the States?
That ranks as one of the funniest Team Cocos I have seen!
Came to see the Dad as cabbie story, hilarious!
David is hysterical 😂 I want the whole episode!!!!
what a charming individual, and a touching story. good for him
Conan is an amazing improv comedian. He seems like if you hangout with him he would have you in stitches. 😅
This was so much fun... I want more of them together!
9:45 just wow. If they ever do more Black Panther movies… I nominate him to take up the role. The gravitas that Chadwick Boseman also had… he would be proud. RIP 🖤
Well, now I know what the Shakespearean version of "I gotta see a man about a horse" is.
What an amazing guy. I think I first saw him in Jack Reacher, but had no idea of his background. And Conan's right, David has that old-school, British raconteur style. Charming dude.
Truly loved this episode, and now I have to watch all of David's films that I hadn't already seen
"Promiscuous Court jesters" sounds exactly like what my Nigerian dad used to say 😃. You only get 3 career choices as a Nigerian: Physician, lawyer, or engineer.
If they ever need someone to replace James Earl Jones, David has the chops.
But the chops lack the baritone.
Replace wtf? 🤨🤨🤨
Well, he's already played a Star Wars Villain, who had some glorious mutton chops.
@@yomamma359 He means if James passes away, he may do a great job as Darth Vader
Huh? Are humans replacing each other?
We need a tv mini series based around the late Mr Oyelowo, the taxi driver.
I love listening to him.
David is simply fantastic
David Oyelowo❤
I didn’t know this guy before watching this. Pardon me while I go watch everything he’s ever been in.
This episode was so good.
One of the best episodes
He's a magic man
Great episode!
But I came here to comment on something said on it by the Cocos about something unrelated to the guest and it was about the numbers of podcast listeners vs viewers here on youtube, specifically that more listen to the podcast than watch the snippets on youtube (and wherever else they upload them). I for one listen to the podcast because I want the whole thing and not just snippets. If they were to upload the whole video, I'd be watching that. 😉
Love that blue plaid shirt on Conan. Very handsome.
Together in perfect harmony 🎵😁
Dave is a fabulous actor.
1:44 Conan: "...and here you are an accomplished Shakespearean actor and one of the funnier people I've talked to"
Oyelowo returns the compliment: (as interpreted by Sona/Conan) "And you are tall.
And not unwomanlike."
😎
my adidas' have some gravidas
It took me a while to figure out where I seen him, and it is in Jack Reacher, but he is very different.
I wouldn't have thought he was British
Winningest
7:23 😂
This is great 😂👏👏👏👏
Loved him in Silo!
The ultimate court jester.
In addition to being a good actor and storyteller with a great sense of humor, he is so elegant and eloquent. Reminds me of the late great Sidney Poitier.
As a Nigerian, I can attest that he is 100% correct. Our parents are so badly behaved 😂😂😂 nobody will show you off as much as a Nigerian parent shows off their successful children
He could be the next Bond 🤔
James Bond isn’t black 🥰
I'm not sure he's "gritty" enough, but sure maybe
@@culwinHe's "grittier" than Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan put together.
@@NovarchareskHe will be soon 😘😘😘
@@arsmor1end1 No he isn't, that's why I said that.
Nice 🧡🧡
So many people in the comments enjoying the wonderful interview, laughing at the interesting anecdotes and hilarious quips, meanwhile I'm over here, fawning over Sona, like a pathetic, lovesick puppy. Somebody please help fund my therapy. 😵
5:56 😂
David Oyelowo was amazing in the BBC mini-series of "Les Miserables" as Javert.
There’s something about the timbre and quality of voice between David and Sacha Baron Cohen that is really similar. Side note: if anyone has Isla’s number, let her know I’m free (;
❤
SHEEPS AND GOATS
what do conan and the statue of liberty have in common?
Is Coco getting bigger?
Gravitass 😂
Any Star Wars Rebels fans out there?
Woahhhhhhh firsty mcthirsty
King of a part of Nigeria to a pedicab driver??
I thought the same thing. What's up with that?
His grandfather was the king - but in Nigeria. As an African immigrant in 1960s England, David’s dad could likely only get that type of work. His social status was only recognized in his home country.
@@kstepko I'm more surprised he would then stay in the UK. I would rather live in a country where I'm royalty/politically significant than do menial labor
@@CeeLoGreen666 In a different interview, David said that they did move back to Nigeria when he was six for a period of time: perhaps there were political or personal issues that we don’t know about.
Why are we not commenting about all those emails from the Nigerian Prince?
What was that all about!?
If Britain provided such unbelievable racism back in the day, then why did they move there? I’m certainly not saying things were perfect, but I’m pretty sure a fuckload of good stuff was also present to justify the move.
Conan has eye slits, what happened to his eyes

Conan? I thought he retired a long long time ago. Lol
Conan’s presence is creepy😂, how he hasn’t been cancelled bewilders me , this is a Harvey Weinstein that hides in plain sight 😂
I agree with the creepy factor, but it's just a face of his comedic factor and bits. You can clearly feel and see in his work how respectful he is of other people.
To compare him to HW.. idk, a bit much?
You probably think that 12 people shot JFK, right?
What a weird comment, go outside 🤨
