  • With the loss of crucial survival equipment I experience a near disaster on Farqaday Lake, this in the context of a rockhounding trip near Glanmire in Ontario. It was an area well-knowen for its lead mines.

Another great adventure and never a dull moment I see :) No Scotch was harmed during the making of this film, good job! We're looking forward to Spring and getting back up there, maybe we'll cross paths some year! Thanks for taking us along.

Wow, for a while I thought I would have to cut off your channel. So glad Dad came to save the the day & my subscription😂.
Nice call from Dad, " you've had enough scotch" hahaha. At least you saved the the good drop.Great looking area and your description of the area & geology was first rate as always. Then there was dad, when he walked down with the oar, I thought he was going to clock you with it, 😂😂😂.
Luckily he had a different plan. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

I love the Old Hastings Rd! The drone footage over the river was neat. An incredible amount of water flows down those rapids in the spring!

Did you say Oban? One of my favorite Whiskeys. My other favorite is Talisker, from the island across the water from the Oban distillery. Glad you saved the bottle. I might have just stripped and jumped in, to grab it, but you don't want to see or imagine that!

I always enjoy your youtube videos, being a rockhound myself here in my state of Idaho, USA, I love seeing Rockhounding in other parts of the world. You live in a beautiful area of Canada. We have cave's here too, main ones are lavatube cave's, one limestone on the western side of Idaho. You can only get to it by rappelling down into & it's a protected cave system as it is an important bat hibernaculum.

Mick: Once again, you've proved that the only way to survive on a rockhounding trip in the north country, is to keep both oars in the water!! (We know what Dad REALLY did, with the scotch!) Keep 'em com ng!

I have. Rockhounding is a small world. I've probably crossed paths with most Ontario rockhounds at one time or another.

Are there stalagmites and stalagtites, we used to go in caves and we would say that the mites go up and the tights go down matey, lol we found caves In the bush over here, and they had all those things in them, we had to crawl along a long tunnel 100m you could hardly fit your arse in it, let alone crawl, the give knew about them, but wouldn't open them up and they were spectacular. Big caverns and openings venturing off them. There's a lot of caves in the State where l come from and their a chemist around here that knows almost every one of them, just thought you would like to know matey. LolXX

I has an opportunity to drink some whiskey that is made in Alberta. A friend if my dad's sent him a bottle as a thank you gift. We can't get it here on the US. It was really good.

There is a very small amount of facet grade sphalerite from the limestone quarries of Southern Ontario.

Eldorado is the site of Ontario's first gold mine and is right in this area. Lots of other old gold mines between Madoc and Bancroft.

For the love of all that is holy I beseech you, PLEASE throw this awful old camera in a fire and get something higher quality!!!! Even a $10 phone camera from 5 years ago is going to be practically IMAX like compared to this horrendous ancient potato quality.

@@noahpomeranchik5226 the cost is so utterly trivial it could be gotten off ebay for less than that bottle of scotch. if he opened a patreon account I'm sure his viewers WOULD buy him one with their money in about an hour.
