a wee fact about the lore of that phrase, emesis blue is based lightly on a stephen king book where teleportation is viable now, however you need to be unconscious during the teleportation because the time moving between the two spaces is infinitely long to comprehend. that’s why when someone is conscious while being teleported, “it’s eternity in there”
Fun fact: There is a Stephen King book were they use teleporters to get to mars but theirs an issue when teleporting organic humans. The mind is active while it's being teleported and hence it takes way longer so before people are teleported people are put to sleep before they can enter. However, in the story a kid doesn't want to be put to sleep so he fakes being asleep and when he gets teleported, he gets teleported but the time he had spent inside between there and mars was so long it basically felt like an eternity with him saying," It's an eternity in there." before doing something bad. Probably not correct with the quote at least, but you get the idea the people who wrote Emesis blue are big horror fans especially of works from Stephen King.
The Stephen King novel is from “The Jaunt”. It’s my favorite short story from him. The line is actually said by one of the men who goes through the Jaunt in the initial teleportation experiments. The reason the story is so haunting is because the father spends most of it recounting the experiments of the teleportation. He estimates that the amount of time someone’s consciousness spends in the transitional space during a teleport must be billions, maybe even hundreds of billions of years to drive them so insane. After the kid holds his breath, when he comes out the other side with white hair, he gouges his eyes out while maniacally laughing, and as they drag him away, he screams to his father: “It’s longer than you think, Dad! It’s longer than you think!”
