    Super work Polina!. As someone from Clontarf, who went to Trinity (read Drama and Theater Studies) and has a good friend who works in the Lyceum, I love your very detailed and inspiring crytical analysis.

    I just recently read Dracula and you did a great job on the us vs. them concept! Wish I'd articulated that when I was trying putting into words how fascinating this book is for giving us a glimpse into society at the time. Love your deep dive. I'll be back for the rest 😁

    Bravo Polina! I am always dismayed that some find the novel DRACULA a bit dry. Perhaps they simply watch too many movies and read too few books. I greatly anticipate part 2 of your analysis.

      After I finished reading Dracula, I genuinely did not understand if I read the same book as other people, it's such a fascinating novel with so many witty moments! As you say perhaps the movie influence is what's harmful here. As always thank you so much for you kind comment, and I hope part 2 (coming today) does not disappoint:)

    Your tips are very helpful, thabk you for that. I'm currently reading Dracula in english (i'm from germany) and i found myself lost in the slang/dialects fe the old man, mina and lucy's friend. I had to skip a few of those passages because i got stuck pretty badly

      try learn the quotes through flashcards, writing them out, whatever helps. It will help you recognise the bits where the quotes are from and prompt your recall:)

    Harker was a fine lad. He was right about all his observations.

    • @PolinasPages
      @PolinasPages  Рік тому +3

      I think the train observation is far from the truth in modern society. UK trains have nearly always been late by at least a few minutes in my experience so far partly because of the strikes. The subway system is the worst I’ve used. Meanwhile the Asian system is far more organized and far more clean, countries like Korea have the cleanest subway, and the culture in the Japanese metro for example is great, everyone is quiet so as not to disturb each other. So as much as you can admire Harker, I don’t think he was right about everything. But that’s just my opinion re: trains

      @@PolinasPages I'm not sure you were around and kicking in 1897 to contradict Harker in any way. Don't be so salty, Mrs

      @@redappl3video happy I don’t look that old to be born in 1897:) not here to fight a war about his observations, just expressed my personal thoughts re: trains today.
