    How to use the shallot pork fat in other recipes:
    1. Put a tsp into your wonton soup, noodle soup, hot and sour soup. It will bring the dish to another level.
    2. Use it as regular oil to make stir fry vegetables. The fragrance will give you a nice feeling when you put the dish on the table.
    3. It can also be a replacement for sesame oil if you are allergic to sesame.

    I cooked it up yesterday. It's fantastic! Fireworks on the palate. I changed 2 little things for my taste: 1. I only used half of the sugar because I don't want to be too dominant in savory dishes. 2. I added some heat in the form of dried chilies as a counterweight to sweetness.

    Hi Mandy. Next is Taiwanese pork chops which this accompanies very frequently. Thanks for all these recipes including fu chai fei pien, assorted beef slices one of my favorites. Am lucky to live fairly close to NYC where all the dishes are readily available and many Taiwanese shops are growing popular. Your post here gives me a chance to be more familiar with what is served, thanks again.

    I used this recipe, and it's great! Thanks Mandy, love your channel. One thing I tried in addition to this recipe is to blanch the pork belly. I think when I did this, the sauce turned out even cleaner. To blanch, cut into big cubes, and put in warm (not boiling) water, then bring to slow boil for like 5m. Then, pour all the stuff out. Then, do the Mandy recipe :-)

    When I first found your channel, I made the braised pork belly (using your old video recipe) and used your Taiwanese popcorn chicken recipe (made cutlets instead of popcorn) with white rice, a side of bok choy, and some corn. My fiance and my roommate fell in love. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes. 😭😭😭

    I saw this dish for the first time yesterday. Like a musician reads a score, I went through this recipe in my head and was convinced that it must be absolutely great. I cooked it today and am just at the last taste. It's absolutely great. A firework of taste. I can only recommend this. That tastes sensational.

    Ok, I have to congratulate you on your marketing skills! I was watching this whole video thinking, “what the hell is a clay pot? I’ve never seen that in the store and I wouldn’t even know where to look.” Then BAM! Clay pot! I will very likely be purchasing that soon because I really want to eat this recipe

      Making the dish tonight in my instant pot but with beef chuck roast. Less water though only a cup of water. Have my rice going and about to sauté some Chinese cabbage. Yum!! Thank you for the recipe

    I wish I could buy the pork belly like that. The grocery stores in my area don’t carry it and the closest Chinese grocery store is over 3 hours away :(
