I cooked it up yesterday. It's fantastic! Fireworks on the palate. I changed 2 little things for my taste: 1. I only used half of the sugar because I don't want to be too dominant in savory dishes. 2. I added some heat in the form of dried chilies as a counterweight to sweetness.

I used this recipe, and it's great! Thanks Mandy, love your channel. One thing I tried in addition to this recipe is to blanch the pork belly. I think when I did this, the sauce turned out even cleaner. To blanch, cut into big cubes, and put in warm (not boiling) water, then bring to slow boil for like 5m. Then, pour all the stuff out. Then, do the Mandy recipe :-)
When I first found your channel, I made the braised pork belly (using your old video recipe) and used your Taiwanese popcorn chicken recipe (made cutlets instead of popcorn) with white rice, a side of bok choy, and some corn. I make it with a instant pot before I got that I used a sauce pan.
