Just did this repair while I watched this video. Took 7 hours, 2 trips to the parts store to get the right tool to remove the fuel lines. I broke one heater core hose and the PCV vent hose, another trip to the store. But the transmission shop was going to charge over $800 to do this. THANK YOU! My truck runs great again with 226,000 miles
Just did this to a 2006 Suburban. It was really easy and I also changed out the cam shaft position sensor as well as oil pressure sensor. Figured I might as well since I had access to them. I also put a bead of silicon around the rubber boots of the knock sensors to help keep water out of them. Overall the job took me about 3 hours and I’m fairly new to working on my own vehicles.

Just did this for my construction bosses truck with 420,000 took 3 and a half hours, the guide was amazing. Was able to get the parts I needed and prep was super easy next times going to be alot less confusing
Great freaking video. Like how he's reading out the size of sockets and tips he gives as he's going along. I gotta replace my knock sensors on my 2004 Silverado and this will definitely help.
It took me just over 5 hours. I stopped for some water breaks but mostly just kept at it. Thank you for a great video! The positive tone in your voice really helped my confidence. I took the laptop to the garage with me and used it to make sure I didn't miss anything, which I did anyway. Duh.... EGR valve wasn't connected snugly.
just finished, took about 2 1/2 hours maybe 3. Really simple. Would have been faster but one of the sensors was rusted and I took a few breaks cause of the heatwave. Thank you so much for the video.
This video was super helpful. Took ab 4 hours including plugs and wires while it was apart and having to clean the ports and vally was really the only hard part. Having a lift didn't do me any favors either! Great work guys!
If you're still getting codes after replacing knock sensors and clearing with scanner try resetting the ECM/ECU that's the only thing that I found to work.
You must be performing the LONG PROCEDURE... cause i'm definitely looking for the 5-minute version! DANG! Not looking forward to this! EXCELLENT INSTRUCTION VIDEO! Thanks! I'm gonna have to take my computer out to the truck to step thru this one!
Amazing video! Thank you. I plan on tackling this in the next few days. One question though... you didn't talk about a new harness? Dose the AC Delco wiring harness come with both ends connected to the engine harness?
Replaced cats and o2 sensors on mine drove 100 miles all good then battery is completely dead. Drive another 130 to now have a po327 code. I was going to get a smog today .... Great! Grand! Wonderful!!! 😅
Hi I have 2003 yukon xl 2500 6.0L. I encountered some problems and fixed them, but I have a problem for which I do not know the solution p0327, p0332, p0135, p0300. I changed the first and second knock sensors with the wiring harness, but 02 sensor I haven't changed it yet, and I cleared the codes, and with a test drive on RPM 2500 to 3000 (check engine) and after checking it showed p0327 p0332 p0135 p0300
I did replace the knock sensors and gaskets for intake manifold, so my question is the rubber hose (3:50) where does the other end connect? Cause when i loosen it, it wasnt connected
Would this be the same on a 08 5.3 Silverado. I've heard different locations, one was driver side behind engine mount, and one under intake? Just wondering..
+Brian Manning This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
What's the name of the tool used to remove the fuel line from the drivers side of the intake manifold? This repair is in the future for my wife's truck.
Where would the knock sensors be located in a 2001 chevy silverado 4.3? I just saw your video where you replaced the intake manifold gaskets on the same engine but did not see the slots for the knock sensors how they're on this video.
Great video. We got this done on my 05 in about 3.5 hours thanks to your guidance. One additional step is that we had to remove the outlet coolant line from the throttle body to get the TB out.
You guys do great videos, but how is a bad knock sensor not going to cause damage? I dont know much about knock sensors. Aren't they there to detect detonation and adjust timing and fuel? Without knock sensors, would that allow the engine to not protect itself if there's detonation? Again, Im not very familiar with more modern engines. Thanks.
Make sure the Die-Electric grease isn't covering the metal pins on the sensors. It's called Die-Electric because it kills conductivity. Put it around the the plastic instead.
hey guys just replaced the knock sensors, after driving a bit it showed a big improvement in endurance but eventually reduced power and threw the knock sensor circuit low code. is it most likely a wiring and electric problem?
Well before you get all the parts delete the ligh and drives for 200.mile if the lights come back you fix but don't be in a rush the ligh might never come back
Anyone know what the rear hose on the intake manifold is for? Mine is missing as well as the canister on the drivers side that it connects to. I've driven cross country without it just fine!

I love how 26 minute video is gonna turn out to a five hour job for me😂😂
6 months for me. Everything that could break, did.
Oh I'm gonna be right here with ya man 👍
More like 15 mins 😂😂😂😂
mine come apart pretty easy, probably gonna spend 6 hours cleaning this greasy mess
Bro honestly… a brake job for me turned out to be a whole month ordeal and new rotors🤣🤣

Took me exactly 2 hours, bought all tools and parts suggested and
It went perfect . Followed and paused video as I moved along. Thanks!
Every time I watch a repair video like this I think to myself how much I miss carburetors.
One of the best mechanic I’ve seen on UA-cam by far, well explained and very experienced as seen. Awesome video
Followed this entire tutorial step by step, huge help! No code, no check engine light!

This video was precise and well documented and informed. Other video's didn't show the level of detail like this guy does. 5 out of 5 stars

I just finished installing the knock sensors in my 2003 Silverado 2500HD. Thank you so much!
finally a vid that shows how to disconnect the plugs , ty
Thank you for this video, it helped me immensely. Worth the effort to not pay big bucks for a mechanic to do it for me!
@2:44: "obviously i want to be careful not to damage the hose" instantly splits the hose then tries to pretend nothing happened 😆
Thank you for this video. I followed it step by step for the full video and it worked perfectly .

Just an FYI you do not have to remove the throttle body from the intake oh, save your money on the gasket and the extra work
You do if your coolant crossover hose passes through it like mine
@@zacheiriksson Same lol mine also had two fuel hoses going onto the fuel rail and the bottom was a nightmare
That's real talent. Thank you, I have learned a lot.

How'd it go
Stupid place to put knock sensors
Right?! Unbelievable, imo.
Good video although I snapped intake bolts 10 and 1 while torquing and u don't gotta take off the throttle body too
Always providing the best car maintenance quality videos 😎👍thank you
Excellent repair video, good job man!
Used this video again. Super helpful. Thank you.

Whats the name of that tool you used to help remove the fuel line hose ?
Amazing video! Thank you. I plan on tackling this in the next few days. One question though... you didn't talk about a new harness? Dose the AC Delco wiring harness come with both ends connected to the engine harness?
This just saved me over $800!
Your videos are so helpful brother

Thanks!
Great video! Made the job super easy!
Great video!! Got it done in 2hr
Excellent video i love the way you explain 👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌thank you
You gotta be kidding! Must be one of there better idea's. Got a nice 2002 for sale cheap.
You got your little clippies 😂 great video dude
My plans for next weekend including spark plugs and wires as well as the front wheel speed sensors
very through! Thanks for the tips and Demonstration.

Hi
I have 2003 yukon xl 2500 6.0L.

Is it recommended to use a new intake manifold or reuse the old?
It’s best to use a new one so that way you won’t have to replace it later on
Very well done. Thanks for the guidance
I installed the gm genuine knock sensors and new cables and I still have the same code low input on knock sensor what could be ?
Muy bien explicado y al punto. Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento
Does this require a crankshaft relearn procedure?
I did replace the knock sensors and gaskets for intake manifold, so my question is the rubber hose (3:50) where does the other end connect? Cause when i loosen it, it wasnt connected

Thank you for this video, im used to older chevy this has wires everywhere 😂
What's the name of the tool used to remove the fuel line from the drivers side of the intake manifold? This repair is in the future for my wife's truck.
What happened with the red rtv sealer around the knock sensors cover?
Impressive tutorial
If I got to do all of that I'm replacing everything in the process if I do it myself otherwise I'm taking it to a shop😁
Did you replace the wire harness as well and did clean out all of the carbon out
Where would the knock sensors be located in a 2001 chevy silverado 4.3? I just saw your video where you replaced the intake manifold gaskets on the same engine but did not see the slots for the knock sensors how they're on this video.
Beautiful yeah well explained you are the best bro
5 hour job and one trip to the auto shop for me, never want to do that again…
Great video. We got this done on my 05 in about 3.5 hours thanks to your guidance. One additional step is that we had to remove the outlet coolant line from the throttle body to get the TB out.
i run into this problem as well
Can someone help please...... the tab he removes on 1:36 . What's the name of the wire or purpose? I notice mines was not connected to anything?
You guys do great videos, but how is a bad knock sensor not going to cause damage? I dont know much about knock sensors. Aren't they there to detect detonation and adjust timing and fuel? Without knock sensors, would that allow the engine to not protect itself if there's detonation? Again, Im not very familiar with more modern engines. Thanks.
Thanks for the video…Why is the gasket green when you are reassembling it?
I see that you didn't put any silicone half-moons on there to keep water and moisture from getting inside
Is this the same for a 4.3L 6cyl engine 07 Sierra 1500?
+Tomasi Wong We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Make sure the Die-Electric grease isn't covering the metal pins on the sensors. It's called Die-Electric because it kills conductivity. Put it around the the plastic instead.
Two thumbs up ^^^^ gracias amigo.....
Good job on the video
Would these procedures be the same for a 2003 Chevy Silverado 4.8L V8? Thank you
Yes
hey guys just replaced the knock sensors, after driving a bit it showed a big improvement in endurance but eventually reduced power and threw the knock sensor circuit low code. is it most likely a wiring and electric problem?
What do you take the engine out to get to it 😢😢😢😢
My 2007 silverado 4.3 wt doesn't look like that. I'm concerned if I take upper off and the knock sensor harness aren't there I'll go nut
😅
If you have the new body style truck it won't be there
Just curious. Why do you have to remove the throttle body? Is it because of clearance to slide out the manifold?
Does it matter is the blue or green wires are switched?
Great video, Thank you so much.
Would you do the knock sensor replacement on my Tahoe and I’ll supply the parts ??
Great video!
Is it absolutely necessary to remove the fuel injectors? The ones on my 05 sierra do not want to come off
Great video thsnks
Well before you get all the parts delete the ligh and drives for 200.mile if the lights come back you fix but don't be in a rush the ligh might never come back
I did mine no it idles high then low by itself. It wasn’t like that before. Any idea what went wrong?
There's a few things wrong here 😕why not blow the dirt off before hand, and why take off the throttle body
dont have access to the places where the gunk accumulates until the intake is removed,
Which Engine is This? The 7.4 454 is what I'm looking for
Good job how much do you charge and where are you located
Anyone know what the rear hose on the intake manifold is for? Mine is missing as well as the canister on the drivers side that it connects to. I've driven cross country without it just fine!
Good vid thank you TRQ
Does it matter which sensor connector goes to which sensor?
I noticed the oil sender back there, I would go ahead and replace that while I had the manifold off.
How much cost this job if a mechanic do?
My question is.... What will my truck be doing or how will it be running for me to know if I need to replace the ones on my truck?
If only it’s that easy
Should I disconnect the battery first? I'm afraid about messing with the fuel lines 😅 I'm a girl with a 2002 silverado so 🤷 I guess wish me luck
Nice way to show the real Deal when 6.0 is ILL
Tank you somuch
I just want to know why your new gaskets went from green old to red new to green old again ???
That would be good time valley gasket
Just go ahead and buy a new hose for the throttle body. He split his and might as well just be safe . You’ll save your money with time, trust .
Why do you remove the throttle body? It can be done without several of these steps.
Why would anyone design something like this? It’s absolutely insane.
4:37 what is that tool 🤨
